Chapter 28 – Teach me to write a love letter!

  "Is something wrong?"

Chen Xi looked at her friend, who had hesitated several times to speak, and asked in confusion.

Xue Lan, caught off guard, forced a slightly exaggerated awkward smile and waved her hand, saying, "No, nothing's wrong, really... Okay, fine, I do have something..."

Forgive her, but no one could withstand Chen Xi's stunning gaze for more than five seconds. If she didn't speak the truth, she felt her conscience would be troubled.

Xue Lan hesitated for a long time, clutching something in her hand, before timidly handing it over and whispering, "Well... um... Xi Xi... this is..."

  "I don't want it."

The response was cold and decisive, as always.

However, this time seemed a bit different. Xue Lan swallowed and continued to persuade, "Xi Xi... that guy just wanted you to see this, he has no other intentions. I felt sorry for him..."

Unexpectedly, Chen Xi saw through her little scheme at a gnce, took the item with a reverse grip, and said calmly, "Tell me, what did he give you in return?"

"No... nothing... I really just felt sorry for him..."

  "Then I won't accept it."

"Three... three bags of Wangwang snack packs..."

Seeing Chen Xi's speechless expression, Xue Lan quickly gestured and expined, "Xi Xi, you have to believe me, that guy really just wanted me to give this to you. I've checked, he's not the type to cling to others, he's tall and handsome..."

The young girl ignored her clumsy expnation, just sighed lightly through her nose, "Just this once."

"Yay! Xi Xi, you're the best~ Let me give you a kiss~"

Chen Xi dodged her friend's sneak attack, shook her head, and felt helpless. Her friend was great in every way, except for being a bit of a foodie. The courage to pass something on for someone else probably came from her love for those snack packs.

Oh well, she didn't have any other close friends anyway, so she might as well give it to her.

Although she still disliked interacting with others, once seemed bearable.

The young girl opened her palm, revealing a small envelope, now crumpled and unattractive from their handling.

Without a second thought, Chen Xi intended to throw it away, but Xue Lan snatched it back like a hungry tiger, holding it preciously and scolding, "Xi Xi, you can't just throw away something like this! It'd be perfect for me, I love reading awkward love letters from shy guys!"

With that, she tore it open and began reading with shining eyes and great interest.

Chen Xi was indifferent to such things, after all, it wasn't money. Receiving too many of anything could become tiresome. But seeing Xue Lan so eager, she couldn't resist her curiosity and frowned, asking, "You... you mentioned a love letter... what is that?"

As soon as she finished speaking, she was met with a peculiar look from Xue Lan, as if she were an alien.

Once Xue Lan confirmed she wasn't joking, she twitched her mouth and asked back, "Xi Xi... haven't you received a lot of love letters before? You mean you never opened a single one!?"

Chen Xi shook her head, her reasoning sound, "There were too many, no time to read, so I just threw them all away."

"So you have no idea what's written in them!?"

  The young girl nodded.

Xue Lan's expression shifted from shock to disbelief, to speechlessness, envy, and finally to a sense of...

  Overwhelming responsibility???

With a sp, a hand nded on Chen Xi's shoulder, too quick for her to dodge.

Xue Lan, looking solemn as if attending a pledge ceremony, said, "A love letter is a way for people to express their feelings for each other, usually during student years, though adults might write them too. But no matter what, it's a youthful yearning for love!"

  Chen Xi blinked, somewhat understanding.

Xue Lan released her hand from the young girl's shoulder, straightened up, and continued, "Typically, there are three types of love letters. The first is the self-exposing type."

"The beginning is usually fixed, often starting with 'Do you know' or 'I have something to tell you,' common in those who confess first, with little chance of success."

Chen Xi paused, then pointed to the opened letter and asked, "Is this what you're talking about?"

Xue Lan gnced at it and confidently said, "Yes! This is cssic clown material! Also, Xi Xi, please don't disrupt the css!"

  Chen Xi: "..."

Raising two fingers, Xue Lan continued, "The second type is self-deprecating at the start, like 'I know I'm not that great, but I still want to tell you,' and so on."

"This type usually appears more pitiable, written by someone quite insecure, so even if successful, it often results in a lower status!"

  Chen Xi frowned, contempting.

By this point, Xue Lan had forgotten her original intention, simply sharing her lifetime of forum knowledge, "The third type is the more ordinary letter."

"But don't underestimate it!" Xue Lan raised her voice, "This type hides its intentions well, subtly hinting at feelings or thoughts, so even if it fails, it doesn't feel too embarrassing, and you can keep trying!"

After expining, she took a breath, sat back down, and proudly asked, "So, Xi Xi, did you understand?"

Chen Xi was silent, frowning in thought for a while before asking an inexplicable question, "So, writing a love letter is a way to express your feelings for someone, right?"

Xue Lan was exasperated, "Come on, Xi Xi, I just expined so much, and that's all you got... But you're right, theoretically, that's how it is, but..."

  "I understand now."

Chen Xi interrupted, her eyes sparkling, biting her lip with a hint of a smile on her lips.
