Chapter 127: The Scarlet Territory (6)

Chapter 127: The Scarlet Territory (6)

At times like this, he missed the system's Direction Feature. At least he would know where he was even going.

Xu Mo continued flying in the same direction, but even after flying for hours, he did not come across any sect’s disciples.

Could I be going the wrong way?

For a moment, doubts began to creep in. He thought he might've flown toward the exit, which was why there were no disciples. But he could also not see the exit.

"Just who created this place? It looks like it has no end," Xu Mo muttered as he rubbed his hair, rotating 360 degrees in the air and looking in all directions. Except for the beasts that roamed the land, he had not yet encountered even a profound stage beast.

  Oops... Jinxed it.

Xu Mo bit his tongue and forced himself to have optimistic thoughts, but his mind kept wandering back to the idea of encountering a profound stage beast.

If I keep flying like this, I might never even find any rare herb. I should travel on foot.

Xu Mo was not omnipotent; he knew that while he might be busy flying, many people searching on the ground would have already gotten something. It would really be embarrassing if the Verdant Sky Hall asked him to show what he had gotten inside the secret realm, and he could only shake his head saying he had gotten nothing except collecting corpses.

Xu Mo looked up at the sky and thought, Couldn't you have placed me in a better spot? Is my luck really that bad?

No one knew who he was talking to.

  Step—

He descended and stepped onto the ground. After flying for so long, the act of walking seemed to feel foreign to him.

I understand that the secret realm has been open for unknown years, and during this time many people would have already obtained the biggest opportunities. But looking at the sheer size of this place, I doubt there would be any less opportunities now. I really cannot imagine just who was kind enough to create something like this and then even let other sects take over the rights to this place.

In the distance, he saw a lone herb growing. Xu Mo cautiously approached the area. After checking the place for any traps, Xu Mo crouched in front of the herb and browsed through his mental library. He seemed to have seen and read about this type of plant somewhere.

  Wild Grass—

It was a common name, but the uses of this Wild Grass were no less than that of Ironbark Flower—a grass known to grow only under tough conditions and needing an ample supply of spiritual energy to age. Looking at the length of this grass, it should be around three and a half feet long.

  Treasure—

It was a rare Wild Grass that had not been harvested yet. Just when Xu Mo was about to uproot it and store it, his hands paused as he remembered that he had not carried any medium that could be used to store such a rare plant.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

Xu Mo casually looked back. Except for dust and air blowing, there was no one there.

  "Come out."

  "Hehe..."

When Xu Mo finished speaking, sounds of laughter appeared, and five disciples emerged behind him—one female and four male.

  Yawn—

Xu Mo stretched; he was almost sleepy. He looked at the disciples of some random sect who were still laughing.

"Say?" Xu Mo could not take it any longer and finally asked why they were following him.

"That Wild Grass belongs to us," one male disciple stepped forward and said while pointing his weapon at Xu Mo’s face.

"Old man, you are already half-buried in the grave. Why try to act cool at your age? Just let us harvest the Wild Grass, or else..."

"Or else?" Xu Mo continued where the male disciple had stopped. "Please... don't kill this old man. I have a grandson waiting at home. I am his only support."

Xu Mo changed his approach to suit his current appearance. Let’s test if these righteous disciples are really as righteous as they act.

  "Haha..."

Xu Mo stifled his laughter. Seeing these people try to act like villains in front of him—he knew that feeling very well. The feeling of superiority others had when they saw someone weaker than themselves groveling, who, ironically, did not have much influence in their own territory.

"Y-you can have this Wild Grass. You all are like my grandchildren too," Xu Mo said with an emotional look as he gazed right into the eyes of these people, his gaze pure of any extra thoughts.

  "Let's go collect that herb."

The team of five advanced as Xu Mo slowly backed away into a corner.

While the male disciples advanced toward the Wild Grass, the female disciple came to his side.

"Sorry, Senior. Here, take these spiritual stones. They might not be equal to the value of this Wild Grass," she said.

Xu Mo smirked a little. He saw that there were still people like her. He refused the spiritual stones and vanished from his spot.

These people, although at the seventh stage of Qi Condensation, which gave them the confidence to bully him, were still not a match for Xu Mo—who was not an ordinary seventh-stage Qi Condensation disciple, no less at the peak of that stage.

He pressed the Fengfu acupoint at the base of the skull (just below the back of the head). Before the four male disciples could even know what hit them, they lost consciousness one by one.

  Aah~

The female disciple let out a loud shriek when she saw her companions fall one after another. Before her screaming could even end, Xu Mo appeared in front of her.

She stepped back, afraid that this old man might have ill intentions toward her. Why else would he make only the male companions lose consciousness?

"S-stay away! I-I’m telling you, if you dare do anything, I will commit suicide, and news of my death will reach my sect. Then even if you escaped to the end of this region, you would be unable to escape!"

"Hehe... Go on, do it. I can still play with your dead body. Do you need poison? I don't want to see you bleeding as it would ruin the fun," Xu Mo said casually.

He decided to play along. Playing the villain was really fun. Xu Mo was just joking with her.

Seeing her face drain of color and become pale, Xu Mo continued walking closer, and she continued backing away—only to stumble upon a rock buried half in the sand, causing her to fall.

Xu Mo’s huge shadow loomed over her.

She closed her eyes and almost curled her body.

  She waited, but nothing happened.

Carefully, she opened her eyes, only to see Xu Mo was taking the storage ring off her team member’s finger and searching for other valuables on their bodies. Xu Mo carefully removed the soil around the Wild Grass and stored it inside the newly obtained storage ring.

"I was just joking. Your friends too will wake up in fifteen minutes," Xu Mo said as he walked back to where he had left the female disciple.

Seeing her pout made Xu Mo laugh.

He got ready to continue advancing but stopped and glanced at the female disciple who was still conscious.

  I should ask for directions.

"Can you guide me? I am separated from my team and sect," Xu Mo said to the girl.
