Since yesterday, I have been in a foul mood. I had to stay up until midnight to calm down Benjamin,
mostly myself.
Sigh.
I can't blame him for being the most talented mage ever. But I would be lying if I said I'm not jealous.
A single day, not even a single day, just 6 hours, was enough for him to grasp my lesson and form his core. I bet even in God's Realm, there isn't a single more talented mage, or I will start to believe that all the souls who taught me hated me.
And there is no way in hell I'm that good at teaching, no chance.
After I calmed down a bit, Benjamin bombarded me with questions, which I can only recall half of. But I managed to shut him down by pointing out how late it was.
When I woke up the next day, I was immediately greeted by a knock on the door and the delicious smell of grilled Centigore Meat. A Centigore is a Monster with the body and tail of a lion, the horns and feet of a goat, and the stubby snout and tusks of a boar. It looked revolting, but its meat was heavenly.
I was still agitated in the morning, but the Centigore meat calmed me down again.
But my blood pressure rose right back up when I opened the clinic door. There are still no Patients, and the clinic is almost empty except for the blurry Image of Benjamin nearly tackling me to the ground, already asking me,
"RUBY! How do I...". But I wouldn't let him finish.
"STOP! At least let me settle down before you bombard me with questions." I'm starting to feel the beginning of a headache.
I hang up my jacket, give the clinic a quick look over, and sit in the same chair we had yesterday's lesson. Throughout all this, Benjamin was never less than a meter away from me. I can see by his baggy, bloodshot eyes that he hasn't even got a wick of sleep.
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
Sigh.
"Fine, what do you want to ask me?"
"How can you regrow limbs?" at least his tone of voice has come down a bit.
"Just that?"
"What do you mean by just that? You still have no idea how hard that is, right?"
"It's just judging by how you almost flew at me earlier. I feared you would ask me how to resurrect the dead or something. But if it's just how to regrow Body Parts, I can teach you that."
Benjamin finally seemed to get a bit embarrassed by his behavior and apologized. "I'm sorry, it's just yesterday after you went to sleep, I couldn't stop trying."
"Ehm, you haven't cut off anything, have you?" I gave Benjamins a worried look.
"Heavens, no, I tried to regrow one of my teeth." He opened his mouth and showed me a row of slightly yellowed teeth with a visible gap in the lower right jaw. Toothbrushes and Toothpaste are still just ideas. Always brush your teeth, kids!
I reply to him, a bit amused, "It only makes sense for you to fail."
"But I thought since Humans have Baby teeth and adult teeth, it would be easier to tell the body just to do the same thing again."
"Not bad thinking. Teeth are indeed one of the easiest to regrow, but your Mental Image and shaping skills are still in their infancy."
At these words, the previously enthusiastic Benjamin deflated a bit.
"For a good Mental Image, you must know exactly what you want your Mana to do. For good shaping skills, you must focus and direct your Mana flow efficiently."
"And how do I know what mental image to use or the best way for my Mana to flow 'efficiently '?"
"Case by case, Bennie. But don't worry, if you train enough, you should start to see some Patterns, and before you know it, you will be able to heal everything as I can."
"Ehm, but Father Roland said that you can't heal everything with healing magic. Even all the Books say it's impossible."
"That is indeed true, but trust me, I can heal any disease or injury. And so will you once I am finished teaching you."
Even though I reassured him of my prowess and teaching skills, Benjamin still seemed skeptical.
"Ok then, let's start with the most important thing: Cells."
After my declaration, a long and arduous lesson about cells, DNA, and basic Human anatomy followed. By the end, it was already time for dinner, and Benjamin's Head seemed ready to burst. On the other hand, I finally understood why Otto seemed to like teaching so much.
I hope Otto won't be too mad about me skipping class today...right?
