Chapter 8: Kez’s Short Speech
A tall orc, a little shorter than Brother Maul, wearing full plate, bearing the Hope Sanctuary emblem on the breastplate, wielding a thick grand two-handed sword, walked up to his introducer, and gave him a friendly punch on his right shoulder. The holy knight was wearing demi-gauntlets, which would allow him to use his sword better. His surcoat was green, almost as green as his skin, and it also had the same heraldic coat of arms of Hope Sanctuary.
“I am Kez, and I am your trainer,” the paladin introduced himself.
Looking at Brother Maul, the knight said, “I have known Tduvv for almost all of our lives. I knew him before he became a brother. I knew him when he could barely carry a simple mace. Now he goes around as Brother Maul, a war priest who has vowed not to use sharp weapons.”
The paladin looked at his friend’s weapon, he chuckled, looked at his own, and stated, “Do not let him confuse you. That grand maul can do just as much damage as my sword.”
“You boots are about to train for one simple purpose, and that is to go to war,” announced

“Each of you was hand-picked by General Xia to be part of this platoon,” Kez stated.
He added, “Each of you might die and each of you must kill.”
Kez looked at each one of the trainees, and said, “It is more important to train your mind than to train your body.”
He walked in front of the first boot, and told him, “Garnosht, you will find things much more precious than the perfect rune stones.”
He went in front of the second boot, and stated, “Dartkin, you will do more than tend livestock.”
Kez then went in front of the tallest dwarf, and told him, “Dane, you will be the master of natural fortifications.”
He went in front of the next boot, and revealed, “Jessotup, remember what you have learned at the sanctuary.”
Finally he went up to Kaz, he started to do a slight bow, but stopped himself, and told her, “You and I have so much in common, but that is to be told on another day. You will freak the enemy out.”
That was the end of his short speech, but he went up to General Xia and whispered, “She will confuse the enemy. She even smells like a dwarf. I apologize for the bow. I forgot that she does not yet know. You know that I cannot hold that information for too long.”
The general whispered back, “It will have to wait until after training.”
