Chapter 11: War to Come
Kaz was wearing the Ring of Zulldion and wielding the Poleaxe of Zulldion, both gifts from the king of the Blue Ice Mountains. She also wore a special armor of chainmail made for her, which he just called “The Armor of Leb”.
Never before had a wide variety of races gather together for the same cause. The members were great but also small and meek. Millennium long enemies had gathered together. Racial prejudices, apathies, and hatreds were put aside.
To Kaz’s right right was a medium sized ogre, big and green, wielding a large club, almost the size of a small tree. He looked at her and smiled. He pounded his club against the ground a few times.
Kaz looked at him, and said, “Ready Cog?, and he nodded his head in confirmation.
On the other side of him was Brother Maul wielding his gigantic hammer. The maul was made completely of wood. The war priest was wearing plate armor that had a crest with a pointed ear person riding a black unicorn. The person had long black hair.
Kez was on the other side of him. He was wearing full plates, but his breast plate’s crest was the same as the war priest’s. It was the same pointed ear person riding a black unicorn. He had his reliable two-handed sword grasped by both hands.
To the right of Kez was a quicken. The quicken were special entities that would live an entire lifespan in about 100 days. It was like each day was a year. They had the appearance of thin humans. Janna the 87th was the quicken’s name, and she left her tribe at 50 days old. It took her three days to get there. She had on a simple white gown and wielded a small dagger.
The sight to her right has one that was very uncommon. An ogre, human, and orc fighting on the same side. To her left was a similar unlikely combination. There was a black unicorn wearing chainmail barding. It was a majestic creature. Unicorns were rare. Black unicorns were unheard of.
On the other side of the unicorn, Dane was wielding his battle axe. He got his axe and banged it upon his chainmail covered chest. Of all dwarves that had trained with Kaz, Dane was the only dwarf that had made it.
Brother Jessotup was on the other side of Dane. He wielded a plain round metal shield and a simple round headed mace. He wore scale mail armor, with leather boots.
To the left of Brother Jessptup was a healer named Jeno Fleer. She was not only a healer but she could turn the undead. She too wielded a simple mace, with a tower shield. On her shield was a simple drawn outline of a fish. She wore banded mail armor. On the right side of her great helm was a smaller duplicate of the fish on her shield.

From across the battlefield, came a loud roar. That gave notice that the enemy had a mature black dragon. In response, Clevintree, the younger bronze dragon roared from behind Kaz. Looking upward, he produced bright lightning that brightened the ever darkening sky.
Faynia landed on Kaz’s left shoulder, and whispered, “I am ready mam.”
She was an eight inch high fairy. Fayna’s wings were similar to those of a large butterfly, dark blue, with numerous white specks. She wore chainmail and had a helm that was fashioned to match Kaz’s. She wielded a two-handed sword that had a blue flame for the blade. The entire weapon was a conjuration of her magic.
Kaz nodded to the fairy, and said, “May your aim be every true Sergeant.”
For a quick second, Kaz looked before her. Under Clevintree were two squads of Faynia’s troops. One of them, Sirdem, looked like he was preparing a magic shield. It was small now, but when he would say the last part, it could protect a large number.
Kaz also knew behind her were two dwarven armies and an elven army. It was a long time since the two races had fought side by side, instead of having petty skirmishes with each other. They all were facing deadly force.
A loud horn was heard. It was Jorg of The Darkened Forest. He and his armies were once a powerful enemy against the dwarf and elf kingdoms. He and his orcs were now unexpected allies. Living was more important than racial apathy. Their opponent was a necromancer, Lord Pidsu, who desired a world of death.
A needling eagle flew over and called. It was Perett’s eyes, and its name was Everst. Perret was a blind nature defender. He had on simple furs and pieces of cloth covered his eyes. He was also one of Cog’s friends.
Many of Cog’s associates had what some would call deficits, but they also had strengths. Cog himself was different from the others in his kingdom. Even though he was a prince, he had socialization challenges, and did not speak until he was almost an adult. Few knew that he had an almost perfect memory.
Perret had a fairy on his shoulder too. Unlike Fainta, Karlay could not fly. She had had a great laugh when Clevintree had breathed lightning into the sky. Her wings were like those of a dragonfly. She could not fly, but not many knew what she could do.
“Arrows!”, yelled Darchnie, the forward observer.
Before he could give more information, he was struck by one. A shield bearer jumped in front of Kaz, and prevented two from reaching her. Many were struck, and screams of pain were heard, but in times of battle, the plans must continue.
“Kaz, wake up,” said an unfamiliar voice.
Kaz woke up in her room at the inn. Next to her bed was a tall lady with curly black hair that had white wings on her back. She seemed to have a slight glow around her. Her breastplate was silver and shiny. She wore a white gown under the armor. Her sandals were gold, with shiny diamonds on them.
“I am Hope, Kaz,” introduced the angel.
She continued, “You have had a vision of a war that is to come. It is years from now, but you must be preparing now.”
“What I dreamt will happen?” asked Kaz.
“Yes, it will. Now that you have had a small glimpse, some details may change, but it will still happen,” confirmed Hope.
Kaz then fell back asleep.
