College

I had my backpack, notebooks, pencils... what else do I need? Ah, my phone. Now off to my first day of college! The sun feels warm and inviting while the soft breeze brushes my hair from my face. What a nice summer day. I'm so excited. After my last boyfriend, romance didn't really seem possible anymore. So now, I'm putting alll my effort into college to become a Surgical Technologist. I'm so excited I can hardly wait. How was I so blessed to be able to attend this prestigious University? It was one of the top schools in the country. I adjusted my sweater that draped over my long, white skirt. Then, I brushed my long brown hair behind my ear. I was here. Time to go inside. I gulped the lump out of my throat and took my first step on the long marble staircase that led into the building. I quickly glanced down at my class schedule. Biology 1215: Room 1124E, this should be easy. I quickly found my class a few hallways down. Of course I was early. I didn't want to miss a second of my first lecture. I dropped my backpack on a seat near the middle. I didn't want to be too up front or too in the back. This was great. I glanced around the room. There were four other students mindlessly scrolling on their phones or setting up their notebooks. I should do the same. I started to reach down and gather my school materials to place on my desk. Then I sat up and looked towards the front of the room. There was my teacher. He had curly, sandy hair that was a bit tousled; and big, muted, green-blue eyes. He was sort of tan and wore a long sleeve button up with the sleeves rolled up and slacks that reached down to his brown shoes. We quickly made eye contact, then he continued writing on his white board. Why was he low-key cute. He's my teacher, I need to focus.

The other students eventually made their way into the room, and my teacher immediately took command of the class. He introduced himself as Mr. James Helder. The way he explained Biology made no sense to me. I could not comprehend his style of teaching. I wanted to make sure my notes were correct. How could I make sure I would be set up for success in this class? "Taiya?" That was my name. Why did I hear it? I looked up and the class was looking at me and the teacher staring directly at me. Sorry what was the question? I asked embarrassingly. "You raised your hand," he asked raising his eyebrow. Oh sorry I didn't realize. I answered meekly. Class was soon over. I walked over to the teacher. "How can I help you, Taiya?" He asked. Can you please read my notes and make sure I got all the information down correctly? I'm sorry for some reason I have a hard time retaining information today. I laughed to soften the blow of that horrible excuse. "Absolutely, so here in this section, domains actually have..." and he explained everything I got wrong.
