Allie Vincent woke up on this beautiful Sunday morning full of glee. She got out of her bed and skipped over to her dresser. She picked out the fanciest dress she could find. Once she was dressed, she spun around, admiring herself in the mirror. Today was a special day for her. She imagined herself as Cinderella, walking down the steps of the palace. To herself, she would never be as beautiful as her favourite fairytale character. In reality, she matched up to it. She had long, wavy blonde hair that travelled past her shoulders and blue eyes that twinkled in the sunlight. She looked divine in the sparkly red dress she had picked out. Allie would be the perfect daughter.
"Ohmygod, really? You have to be kidding" A voice said from her bedroom door.
If only she didn't have a brother. Her brother, Cameron James, or CJ, was nothing like his sister. Unlike her, he had scruffy brown hair that was always messed up, his eyes were as dark green as a swamp and he had freckles all over his face. If you connected them, it would probably form a picture of his favourite superhero.
"You're not seriously wearing that?" CJ asked his sister.
"Yes, I am," Allie replied, "It's none of your business what I wear anyway"
"It's my party, too!" CJ whined.
"Yeah, well, I'm older" Allie retorted.
"By twenty minutes, big deal!" CJ complained, "I am not dressing fancy for my thriteenth birthday!"
"You don't have to" Allie scoffed.
"Ten bucks says I will if Mum sees that" CJ replied, pointing at the dress.
Allie just rolled her eyes at this statement.
"Put something else on or spend your birthday in your room" CJ commanded as he stormed downstairs.
Allie really felt that only children were lucky. They had noone to answer to besides their parents. CJ really got on her nerves sometimes. She took off the dress and threw on some blue jeans and a pink sweater, adjusting a red bow to her hair. With that, she, too, made her way downstairs. When she got to the kitchen, there on the table were about five boxes of cereal. CJ was already sitting down and digging into his.
"Happy birthday, dear" Her mother said.

Bonni Vincent was a spectacular woman. She had blonde hair that was almost always tied up in a ponytail. Not only that, she was the sweetest woman you'd ever meet. Allie saw clearly what traits she inherited from her mother.
"We decided since you are officially teenagers, you can have the breakfast of your choice" Her father told her.
Her father, Max, wasn't that much different from their mum. He worried more about maturity and adult things when it came to Allie and CJ getting older. He had short brown hair that he spiked in every direction. and blue eyes much like Allie's. Allie looked at the cereal boxes, then at CJ's bowl. Apparently, he decided to have a mix of all five cereals. She grabbed the box of Corn Flakes and began making her breakfast. Allie and CJ may have been twins but they were nothing alike. Apart from not looking alike, Allie was calm, collected and intelligent when it called for her to be. However, CJ showed his immaturity whenever he could. Not only could he form an argument out of just one sentence, he found interest in the most disgusting things noone could think of.
"You better get dressed before Lilah gets here" Bonni told CJ once the twins had finished their breakfast.
"Lilah?" Allie asked her parents, as CJ zoomed up the stairs in his Cars pyjamas.
"Yes, dear, we've invited her" Bonni told her.
"Just her?" Allie queried.
"Relax, sweetheart," Max calmed his daughter, "We've planned your whole thirteenth birthday"
"Planned it? What about mature decisions, Dad?" Allie asked him.
"Today's your birthday, Allie. It's all about having a good time," Max explained, "You can start a proper teenage life tomorrow"
"But why have you only invited Lilah?" Allie questioned her parents.
"There's something we haven't done at all in your thirteen years of life, sweetie," Bonni told her, "Your father and I have a little surprise for you and Cameron"
"Surprise? What is it?" CJ asked, walking back into the kitchen wearing a khaki green jacket and some baggy grey pants.
"Well, if we told you, it wouldn't be a surprise, would it, Rascal?" Max stated.
"'Spose not" CJ groaned as he kicked the floor.
Just then, the doorbell began ringing.
"That'll be Lilah, do you want to answer it?" Bonni asked her children.
Allie looked at CJ.
"She's your friend" CJ mumbled, glaring at her.
Allie sighed and got out of her chair. She walked out of the kitchen, through the hallway to the door. She opened it.
"Hey, happy birthday" The girl at the door said, waving.
Lilah Newberry was Allie's best friend. They'd known each other since they were three years old. Unlike Allie, Lilah had sandy blonde hair, which she always wore in pigtails. She wore triangular shaped glasses and had braces. Today, she was wearing a yellow t-shirt with a flower petal in the middle and a short pink skirt.
"Thanks, come in" Allie invited her friend in.
She led her into the kitchen, where Lilah greeted everyone.
"So, the surprise?" CJ asked.
You could tell he was getting anxious.
"As your mother told Allie earlier," Max began, "There is something you haven't done in your thirteen years"
"Made mature choices?" CJ asked sarcastically.
"Now, Cameron," Bonni scolded her son, and continued, "Your father and I have had this discussion for two weeks now and we've decided to finally do it"
CJ looked bored out of his brain, waiting for the revelation. Lilah obviously knew what it was, she was jumping with joy. And Allie stood patiently.
