ring ring
He was sitting in a chair, resting his elbows on a table in front of him. The table had all kinds of stuff any individual would imagine.
He turned around to pick up the phone, sunlight reached his eyes directly but he couldn't be mad. After all it was his fourth time getting blinded. He could not bring himself to close the window curtain due to not liking the dim environment.
He could just turn on the light but it would be a waste while there is sunlight present. At least, that's what he thinks. In reality, turning lights on won't do much to his wallet but who knows, maybe he's just a cheap guy.
He picked up the phone.
"Hey, old pal. We have a new guy over here, could you maybe um give him a new place to live in?" He was surprised to say the least, it had been over 3 years since he got a call from that specific department
"Who are you calling old pal, it has been only 10 years since we knew each other" It was annoying since he didn't like being called old. Well, not anymore. A heavy feeling fills his heart, he knew the other person was calling for a new place for the new employee, which can only mean one of the members have died. He sighed.
"Which one died?" A chuckle could be heard from the other side. Fortunately, he was the type of person that was able to control their temper.
"None, of course"
What.
"What do you mean none?"
"What you don't know the dictionary, now?"
'None have died? Then why is he asking for a new place'
This was a new experience for Qil. He had called him over 4 times now, asking for a new place. As far as he knows, a single group is only suppose to have 5 peoples. The other promising people are suppose to be sent to the a another department that's lacking in members.
Of course, there might be special cases where a group needs more than 5 people but that was only the case in a area that has high potential threat. The location which the department was located in was, in fact high in potential threat but not that serious enough to have more than 5 members.
"Qil, just search it. Don't ask any question"
Qil stopped thinking since what good would it even do if he knew the reason? After all, he's just a high quality property finder.
"What kind of house do they need?"
"I actually don't know. I'll send him to you later though" With that he hang up.

Loud sounds of rain dropping could be heard, Julo looked outside and closed the window.
It has been a few hours since he woke up since the captain told him to stay and he didn't have any places to go.
He could maybe go back to his dad's house but living with your family at the age of 16 was a little embarrassing to say the least.
"We got you a new place to stay at and don't worry we'll cover the cost" Captain opened the door to his office and walked in.
Julo faintly smiled. He wanted to smile even more but doing that would be a little rude. The faint smile was his limit of being able to hold back a smile.
"Although, you need to tell us what you want"
Julo, however could not be too picky since he was getting a free place to stay at. It was basic manners.
"I- I don't need anything" He tried to say it in his normal voice but most sane people would also stutter, of course.
"Are you sure? We don't want an individual saying they don't like the house after we bought it" Gino took out his cigarette case, lit it and blew it.
He paused for a bit.
"We could let you see the house before we buy it. Is that good?"
"Of cour- course" He looked at Gino's hand holding the cigarette case, it was slightly opened, revealing that only a third of the cigarettes were left.
'Is he a heavy smoker?'
"Why are you stuttering soo much? What? Is this shocking to you? Your heart isn't gonna be well if you keep getting surprised"
"Oh, sorry"
Gino let out another blow.
"Are you ready?"
Julo bent over.
"What are you trying to do?"
"Trying to tie my shoe laces"
Gino looked at Julo after a while. The reason? It has been 15 minutes and he didn't even get close to tying his shoe laces. In fact, he didn't even manage to tie one shoe let alone a pair.
The atmosphere in the room suddenly became heavy as if a powerful being had entered the room. Both of them suddenly froze. For Julo, it was because of his instinct but for Gino it was because he knew who entered.
"What's taking you soo long" A familiar voice entered Gino's ears, he could not forget the voice after all. It was the voice of his supervisor. He looked quite young, if one had to guess they would say he's around 25 years old. Of course, his age was higher than both Gino and Julo combined. The air around him smelled like roses.
"Oh. I see" He looked at Gino and smiled.
"Gino. I know you like this kind of stuff but you shouldn't do it during work you know"
'It's Winston'
"What do you mean?" Julo asked.
Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site.
"Ohhh you know what I mean"
Gino sighed.
"Winston, you should stop making these jokes I might be able to handle it but I don't know the rest of the members. Especially Travestita"
"Whatever. Are you ready to go now?"
Gino nodded. Julo quickly managed to tie his shoe and followed along. They went downstairs and left through the front door.
Unfortunately, there weren't any umbrellas so they were bound to get wet. Other than Winston, of course. He seems to be coated in a thin aura that prevents him from getting wet. Occasionally though, he didn't use it when it was crowded.
It was hard for Julo to catch up, they were simply too fast for him. The worst part was they weren't even sprinting. Before they even reached the destination, Julo was already stopping for a bit.
Winston noticed him, and quietly asked Gino.
"He doesn't look to be an uncoiled"
"That's because he isn't"
Winston looked at him and walked again, this time a bit more slowly.
Julo shivered in the rain due to the cold. His body felt a little bit more heavier than usual. He looked at the stores around him.
'Moe's Delight? Isn't that a restaurant only available in a city called Night Light?'
Night light was interesting to say the least. The night there was apparently soo beautiful, they decided to name it like this but how would he know? He haven't been in Night Light after all.
'Wait'
Julo quickly caught up with captain or at least he tried to. Unfortunately, he tripped and fell down. His clothes were covered in a little bit of dirt but he didn't mind it since he was planning to wash them later because of the rain.
He got up, those walking in the front were looking at him, Gino had a frowning expression while Winston on the other hand not soo much.
He looked at his clothes, it was dirty moments ago but it looked clean as new. The rain washed it off.
'The rain feels heavier than usual'
Remembering what he was going to ask, he walked beside captain.
"Can I ask where we're at?"
Gino looked at Moe's Delight and looked Julo.
"You already know the answer" He kept walking. Julo who was expecting it followed him. He looked up, trying to see the cloudy sky, it was currently 7 PM. He stayed at the department longer than expected, 6 hours to be exact.
He didn't dislike staying there, the place was better than his home but it lacked a normal bed to lay in, which was a bit of a let down.
The rain was calming, the lights from the stores was pleasing to look at, not to mention that the cars there weren't exactly noisy. All of that made the scenery looked like it was straight out of a artwork or a fantasy.
From what Julo have heard, rain was common in this city, especially at night. Sometimes, it might not rain but the chance of that happening were extremely low. One might even only see around 20 non rainy days per year.
As for why though, scientist don't really know. There are a few theories but most of them are unreliable.
They walked for around 40 minutes before reaching their destination. It would have been shorter if Julo was faster but since he wasn't it took longer than Gino expected.
In front of them was a normal looking house with two floors. It was pleasant to look at. There were a few flowers growing near the house.
Winston proceeded ringed the bell and waited. After a while, he ringed again. That didn't work, so he repeated the action over and over again. On the sixth attempt, the door finally opened, revealing man with white hairs, he had black spots under his eyes. It was clear that he didn't have enough sleep in the past week or so.
He carefully looked at Winston and rubbed his temple.
"Come in" He turned around and walked to the living room, however he seemed to be wobbling as if he had drank too much. Of course, he wasn't intoxicated at all. The wobbling was caused by the dizziness he was experiencing after waking up.
He carefully walked forward and sat down, Julo looked around the living room, there were ancient looking paintings and a large tv above the fireplace. The walls were painted in a cozy looking yellow and the decorations made the house look like an upper class's house. Most likely because it is.
He looked at Julo and asked Winston.
"Didn't you say he would come soon?"
"This isn't soon?" He said with a bit of confusion. Of course, he knew what he meant, he just wanted to tease him a little bit.
He paused for a bit and shook his head.
"You're going to make me have a bigger headache" he mumbled.
He took a long breather and spoke again.
"You made it sound like he was going to come in 3 hours but you made me wait over 6 hours. I'm a busy man, you know" There were a few hints of frustration in his voice but since he was used to Winston's shenanigans, he wasn't that angry.
"Oh, you're busy? Last time, I remember you were at a bar this morning" A tone of mockery was presented in his voice.
"Winston, You were also there and I can't work 24/7 without relieving myself"
"Let's just get to the point" He looked at me, size me up and asked.
"What kind of place do you want to live in?"
"A cozy place" Julo replied, thinking it was a good answer. It wasn't a good answer, Qil knew this.
"Yeah yeah a cozy place"
"Do you want to live in the woods or what?" Clearly mocking Julo, he looked at him in the eyes and sighed.
Julo paused for a bit, it was safe to say he wasn't expecting it. Who would after all. He quickly realized what was wrong with what he said. Julo looked away, he couldn't look Qil in the eyes due to embarrassment.
"You... know lo-fi right?" Every second, the pressure was becoming unbearable, Julo couldn't say Internet stuff in front of a senior without cringing.
'Gosh this is the worst'
Qil looked away, went straight to his work office and pulled out some papers. After careful consideration he pulled out two paper and went back to the living room.
"You want a house or an apartment?"
Julo answered without hesitation.
"A house" Julo wasn't an apartment person to say the least. Back when he was young, he stayed at an apartment for around 2 weeks. He did not enjoy the two weeks. The space there was super cramped meaning he couldn't walk around for hours before getting bored, the neighbors were arguing at least one time per week and he hated stairs.
'Now that I think about it maybe the problem was the place itself. From what I have heard, some buildings have elevators and large spaces with a lot of rooms. I wondered what an expensive apartment would get me'
Not that he was planning to live in an apartment anyway.
Qil handed him the keys and went to the kitchen. Julo looked at the keys, a bit confused. When his family rents or buys a house they have to wait a few weeks before moving in. This time, he just gave him the keys without saying anything.
'Aren't I supposed to do some paperwork?'
Winston noticed my face and sighed. It seemed like he had a lot of people getting confused so he filled me in about Qil.
"He buys good places and sells them to customers because 'it is faster'"
"Don't worry about the paperwork, we'll handle it and by we I meant him over there" he pointed to Gino. Gino didn't look pleased but he had to endure it. He would definitely get back at him.
"We should go now" Gino walked over to the door and exited. Julo and Winston followed him. That is until Julo remembered something.
'Wait where's the house in question'
"Where are we going next?" Julo asked nervously.
"Your new house"
"Can't we just take a taxi" Julo's legs are hurting at this point and he wasn't really strong. In fact, he was the weakest one at every school he went to. He couldn't really gain muscle because he was just too lazy and he couldn't even gain weight for some reason.
"My legs are hurting right now"
Gino and Winston looked back a little surprised, Gino managed to not let his surprised show in his face. they weren't expecting him to have soo little stamina. They decided to take a taxi since he got a little injured yesterday.
He got dropped off in front of the house but unfortunately they couldn't come in since they had something to discuss. Julo tried to get used to the new layout but the fact that the house was similar to his previous home he couldn't help but keep walking into walls.
The house itself was large, it was two stories high and there was a small place to plant some flowers. It was definitely cozier than his previous home. The bedroom had a large window with curtains as well as other decorations. Qil seemed to have decorated the house beforehand. There was some stuff that was definitely missing.
Julo decided to buy a few things to fill in the spots. He already got the card from Gino on his way to the house so he could buy a few things to make his life even more enjoyable. For example, a computer, a new phone, a coffee maker and much more.
He went through his phone and purchased a few things. Unfortunately, the card has a limit on how much money you can spend per week. However since he had the money his father gave him, he could buy a lot of things, infact, the amount his father gave him was slightly above the house's cost. Which was a fortune for Julo. If he doesn't waste it on useless pillows.
Julo turned off the lights and sat on the bed, looking at his window and the rain pouring down made a beautiful scene. The city lights made it even more enjoyable since it wasn't that blinding. His eyes were feeling heavy.
So he slept peacefully throughout the entire night.
