I rode a motorcycle with Tan Jiao and headed straight for the Zhu family's place.
On the road, she called Shen Shiyan, but no one answered.
"This kid is probably busy and didn't answer my call!" She was a bit annoyed.
I looked at her wide eyes in the rearview mirror and said, "If that kid can't be reached, I'm here."
She: "Uh-huh." Reaches out and gently grasps the hem of my pants, a bit shyly.
I looked ahead and said, "Hold on tight." I stepped on the gas pedal, hearing her take a light breath, tightly embracing my waist, with her head also leaning against my back.
I don't speak, facing the scorching sunlight, moving forward all the way.
"Wu Yu, when did you learn how to ride a motorcycle? Was it also this year?" she asked.
"No." I said, "I learned in high school. At that time, our family had no money and couldn't afford to buy one, so I rode my classmates'."
"Oh."
After a while, she said: "Next time I'll buy a motorcycle too, and learn to ride. Can you teach me?"
I calmed down and said: "Your driving skills are like that, riding a motorcycle, isn't it beyond your ability?"
"Take this!" She punched me in the back, "You're mocking me! I didn't think you were that kind of person!"
I smiled and said, "Just stating facts."
"I want to get off!" She said with feigned anger.
She accelerated, and he suddenly became flustered, his fingers grasping tighter, whispering: "You're being unreasonable."
I didn't say a word, grabbed one of her hands and pulled it forward again, placing it on my chest, making her hold me tighter. At that moment I felt the powerful heartbeat. She was motionless and silent.
We arrived at the entrance of Zhu's house.
I noticed that during the day, the curtains on the first and second floors were all closed. A car was parked at the entrance, with a faint light inside.
Not quite right.
We went forward and knocked on the door.
No one answered.
I increased my strength and knocked loudly. If there was someone inside, they couldn't ignore it. As expected, after a while, Shuoyan's voice came: "Who is it?"
I took a glance at Tan Jiao, she looked somewhat tense, I shielded her behind me.
The door opened halfway, and Yan Yuan's face appeared. It was still that dignified face, but now it seemed that his tall stature and delicate features really did bear some resemblance to the Zhu family.
His face was slightly red, and his hair was also sweaty. The weather was very hot, but he wore a black long-sleeved shirt and trousers, with some dark stains on them that couldn't be seen clearly. When he saw us, something flashed in his eyes, and then he immediately smiled and said: "It's you guys. Before I could even thank you for your help to our family, you suddenly came over... is there something going on?"
I also smiled: "Mr. Yan, we have some questions and would like to ask for your advice. Is it convenient to talk about it?"
Yan Yuan Jing said quietly: "Alright, you guys go ahead and say it."
The door was half-closed, blocking the view of the interior. I stepped forward and climbed the steps, saying: "We'd like to have a chat with Mr. Zhu."
Yan Yuan smiled and said, "That might not be too convenient. My father-in-law is old and tired after coming back from the police station, he just fell asleep. The elderly really work hard, or you can come again tomorrow? I'll tell him when he wakes up."
"I said: 'Never mind, we won't disturb him. Find your second brother, Zhu Zhongling is also okay.'"
His face changed slightly, and he said, "Unfortunately, my second brother and sister-in-law just left."
"What about Miss Zhu Jihui?"
"He said: 'She's gone out too.'"
We both remained silent for a while. He smiled and said, "Mr. Wu, Miss Tan, you two are very enthusiastic and have a strong sense of justice. Thank you so much, another day we will definitely go to visit and thank you in person. If there's nothing else, I'm also tired, so I won't keep you any longer."
