The next day and night, the ship was calm. The only drawback was that the weather was not very good. It rained heavily for a whole night, and during the day it was overcast with occasional rain. Many passengers complained about this, because the scenery on both banks was greatly discounted, and everything looked gray and hazy. However, complaints aside, no one could suggest getting off halfway, as the Dianmei Ren had already sailed into the deep mountains where there were no people.
I went to the wheelhouse and asked the captain. The captain was very confident: "Don't worry, kid. We have a reservoir downstream, and we're releasing water all the way, so the water level won't rise up here. I've seen bigger rains than this before, and nothing's ever happened."
It sounds reasonable and there seems nothing to worry about. But both Tan Jiao and I are clear that there must be some abnormal situation waiting for us ahead.
However, at that time, we did not think that it would be in a way that no one could have predicted. It was also the first time I witnessed the great power of nature.
The next evening, the boat sailed into a vast plateau lake. The sky was unexpectedly clear. The journey seemed more peaceful. My mood also became somewhat lighter.
The boat docks beside a lakeside meadow, and the tour guide organizes everyone to disembark for sightseeing. With great pride, he introduces: "This is an undeveloped no man's land, completely pristine highland meadows..."
I helped Wu Miao off the boat, with Tan Jiao following behind us. After Wu Miao went down, I turned around and stretched out my hand to her, but she ignored me and nimbly stepped down with one foot. Then she smiled and warmly took Wu Miao's arm in hers.
I can only follow behind them and watch her.
"A Yu......" Chen Ruying called out from behind me, quickening her pace as if trying to catch up.
I ignored him and quickened my pace.
After landing, tourists scattered in all directions.
It has to be said that the scenery here is breathtakingly beautiful. The surrounding mountains are like a masterpiece of the gods, with each one uniquely shaped. It's as if the universe's divine craftsman had secretly hidden his work here. The water is a deep blue, and in many places it's crystal clear all the way to the bottom. This isn't the bright blue of the open sea, but rather a quiet, enchanting blue.
The meadow is extremely vast, with a broad expanse of yellow and green stretching far into the distance. From afar, it looks like a group of people bowing their heads on the shore, constantly rising and falling. The colors - green, blue, red, and yellow - are all incredibly pure, so much so that they seem empty and quiet. This is truly a secret realm that was once unknown to anyone.
Those birds are also there.
They were circling above the lake. They didn't look at me, nor did they look at Tan Jiao and Zhu Jiuyi who were not far away. It seemed that they didn't recognize anyone either, nor did they gather in groups. I stared at them for a while, turned my head to look around, and saw Tan Jiao standing not far away, also looking.
Later, I sat by the lake smoking a cigarette that I had bought on the boat. Wu Miao walked past me and exclaimed, "Ah! Brother, you're actually smoking! No way! Be careful or I'll tell mom on you for not studying well!"
I smiled and said, "Don't make a fuss. You see, I haven't even mentioned it to Mom." Wu Miao immediately shut her mouth.
Tan Jiao, who was with her, still didn't look at me. I don't know when she and Wu Miao took off their shoes together, barefoot, and stepped on the sandy ground by the lake. I faced the sun, squinting my eyes to watch them.
Compared to Wu Miao, who kept looking around and moving, Tan Jiao was more quiet and walked forward steadily. The sunlight shone on her long hair, revealing a subtle black glow. She wore a soft-looking T-shirt and a short black skirt. Such simple attire, yet my gaze couldn't help but be drawn to her. The skirt just passed her thighs, exposing her slender white legs. The lines were incredibly beautiful, as if they were naturally born that way.
I had noticed it long ago.
