Prologue

  The Killer King

No one truly knows when it all began, but there was always a trace of fear: the King's Eye. They say the dark mist that shrouds the world was woven to blind souls, imprison hearts, and silence hope. Over the ages, a black fog, as putrid as ash, rotted the air, smothered the light, and suffocated life itself.

Beneath this oppressive veil, five great nations rose, each ruled by a monarch with violet irises—eyes capable of transmitting pain and fury with a single glance. Humanity ceased to be defined by the color of skin and became marked instead by the color of their eyes — the inescapable seal of fate.

From the primordial Void emerged a land of nightmares, whispered only as the Red Continent. There, the Void birthed aberrant creatures: ravenous beasts, sentient demons, and indescribable horrors that hunt humans as prey, turning flesh into currency. Even the name of that place should not be spoken aloud, for fear of desecrating one's very soul.

Among all the colored irises, the most feared is absolute darkness: those born with the Black Eyes of the Void are considered abominations and are executed without mercy. For millennia, kings and their subjects have waged a relentless hunt for the Black-Eyed.

In contrast, there are the Golden Eyes — as rare as the dawn — that radiate peace, beauty, and passion. Only those blessed by the Holy God are born with them, celebrated with songs and prayers from their first breath, destined to reshape the fate of kingdoms.

It is in this ruined world that Zack Fair awakens, marked since birth by the Black Eyes of the Void. His fate seems sealed: hunted by the king's emissaries and pursued by the very darkness flowing through his veins. Yet, a stubborn flame still burns in his chest — and not even the Void will be able to extinguish it.
