Prelude: "Worlds End"

  Drip Drop Drip Drop

Rain falls from the dark, black sky.

Rubble was scattered across the land. A city decimated. Houses were destroyed, walls were broken down, and a castle was split in half.

Multiple lifeless bodies are laid out with the color red following each.

A being of all-encompassing power stands above all, levitating and scoping out the decimated landscape.

"This world shall end," the being speaks.

"No, no, it shall not," a male says as he stumbles to regain his footing amongst the rubble.

  CLANK

"You still draw breath, Heavenly Flame?" the being questions.

  SLAM

A sword smashes into "I will not let this world down," the swordsman says as he uses his sword to pick himself up.

  WHIRL WHIRL

"May the winds bless me and bring me new life," a woman says as the wind raises her up from the ground.

  SHINE

A bright light shines from the opposite end of the castle.

"As long as there's light there shall be no darkness," a male says, being encompassed with white lights around his body.

  Drip Drop Drip Drop

  Drip Drop Drip

  Drip Drop

The rain begins to slowly stop dropping from the sky as to begins to glow a blue hue.

"Rainy days shall pass as the sun will eventually arrive," a mage says as he walks towards the being.

The five mages come side by side to confront the being.

"NYX, the world will not end today, only you."

"If you are successful today,y you will always. Always. Come back. You cannot kill death. You can only avoid it. As all living things will meet their end. So will this world. Your world you call perfect. With all this life, money, wars, wrath, greed, envy, pride, lust, sloth, and gluttony. It all too shall end"

"WE SHALL CHANGE THAT," the five mages say in unison as they charge into battle.

"Haha, come to your demise then."

Shadows emerge as they engulf the area.

  SHINE

A blinding inferno combats the shadow as light shines through the night sky. The rain begins to stop.

  MANY YEARS LATER

  Inside a dimly lit bedroom.

"Then what happens, father?" a young boy questions.

"Well, the Five Heavenly Mages defeat NYX and the story ends," the man responds.

"That's a really good story. How did you come up with it?"

"Story?!" The man's tone changes." He then fixes himself up. "Of course, it's a great story. Now it's getting late. Time to head to bed, Axelle."

  "Ok, goodnight, father."

  "Goodnight, son."

The man walks to the bedroom door.

"Father, are you and Mother still mad at me for burning the apple tree down?" the young boy asks.

He turns around with a calm and empathetic expression. "No, of course not, we have more than one apple tree." The father pats his son's head. "Plus, that one was getting old anyway. If it makes you feel better, your flames are getting more accurate."

  "Alright, goodnight then."

  CREAK

  SHUT

"Is Axelle fast asleep?" a woman's voice asks, lying on a sofa, reading a book.

"Yes, dear, he is. Ha," A man sits at the edge of the sofa as he lies down exhausted.

The woman meets him there as she sits beside him. "You're still thinking about it, aren't you?"

  "About what?" he asks.

"Axton, don't play dumb with me." The woman's tone changes.

The man messes with his hair. "Etna, I'm sorry." Axton goes to sit upright on the bed." It's just, it could be possible with candidates popping up, it may be time for its return."

Etna leans forward with a concerned expression, "T-there are many fire mages out there no-"

"Dear." Axton looks at his wife with a solemn expression as he puts his hands on hers. "It's possible. Since the Le Fleur family stated that their heir is a candidate for one of the Heavenly Mages."

"But that's a royal family now. Their standards are different, they have the proper training and-"

"I also heard rumors of the son of the War Hero Galen Rossi being a candidate as well."

His wife pouts, "The main difference here is that their families are with nobility. We're just normal commoners who don't even live in any of the main regions. We're in the in-between. You hadn't had any ties with the royal families since the war."

Axton stands up from the bed as Etna's eyes follow him toward their window. "Were the first set of Heavenly Mages royalty?"

Silence fills the room for a moment.

  "I don't know-"

The man turns around and puts his arms on his wife's shoulder. "We may have to accept the fact that our child may be a candidate. We must train him together, and when he becomes of age, he'll be sent to Casadora and attend Ardian Magic Academy."

Etna's eyes begin to water as tears begin to stream from her face.

  Axton hugs her.

"I just wanted him to live a normal life without all this war and violence."

"I know, I know, we should know firsthand. Word will get around soon."

They embrace in a warm hug.

"'I'm just scared for him. Sniff sniff, do you think he'll be ready to fight that monster?"

  "He will"

As the two parents embrace, they aren't aware of the boy who heard everything from a crack in the door.

"Am I going to fight that monster?" a young, frightened Axelle wonders.
