*Chapter 33: The Haunted Mansion Murder Mystery (Part 26)

The eldest young lady, as the deceased's most beloved person, indeed had no motive.

However, if she had learned the deceased's secret, it would make more sense for her to kill him directly rather than castrate him.

Mu Xin scoffed, "Perhaps love is greater than anything else."

Upon hearing this, Qin Nan understood and exchanged a knowing glance with Jian Fan, who was walking ahead. "Is it because of our Dr. Jian Fan?"

"Be more precise," Jian Fan coldly reminded.

  Qin Nan chuckled.

Mu Xin continued, "On the day of the murder, Lin Junru chose to go to the deceased's courtyard. By the time she arrived, the deceased was already sitting in a chair with a dagger in his forehead. The eldest young lady then pulled the dagger from his chest and castrated him."

"She used the dagger from the deceased's chest?" Jian Fan caught the crucial detail.

  Mu Xin nodded.

When they last saw the deceased, the dagger was still embedded in his chest.

"After she castrated him, what happened to the dagger?" Jian Fan asked.

"Lin Junru witnessed that after the eldest young lady did all that, she was terrified and didn't think to grab the dagger. She must have just thrown it on the ground. After castrating the deceased, she took away his... well, she wrapped it in the deceased's undergarments. As for where that ended up, Lin Junru didn't know, but she never found it in her room," Mu Xin explained.

Jian Fan paused. "She must have given it to the doctor. I found a bloody pair of undergarments in the room."

As for that item, it likely found another destination.

"So how do you know it was because of love?" Qin Nan asked.

Mu Xin replied, "This brings us to the second time reversal that happened not long ago."

Qin Nan felt a jolt in his brow. Lin Junru really trusted Mu Xin; she had just shared her information with her after the death of the third young master.

Mu Xin continued, "When Lin Junru saw the situation, the eldest young lady and the doctor had already developed a deep affection for each other. But one day, the doctor suddenly distanced himself from her, seeming to want to cut ties completely."

This period must have occurred after Jian Fan's experiences.

The once-loving couple suddenly turned cold overnight; how could the eldest young lady accept that? She needed an answer.

She began to cling to the doctor more frequently, trying every means to investigate. Until one day, she discovered the doctor was secretly involved with a young woman. She confronted that woman and learned something shocking.

Unauthorized tale usage: if you spot this story on Amazon, report the violation.

The woman told the eldest young lady, "He can never be with you because he is your half-brother."

At this point, Qin Nan was at a loss for words.

When you think it’s a cliché story, it turns out to be horror; and when you think it’s horror, it becomes cliché.

Mu Xin continued, "Lin Junru had to choose whether to believe this woman's words or not, and she chose to believe."

Qin Nan quickly grasped the inconsistency in this situation. "So this woman was deceiving the eldest young lady?"

"I think that’s obvious," Mu Xin said.

If it were the truth, why would there be a choice? If Lin Junru had chosen not to believe, she might have discovered more about the doctor. But it seemed Lin Junru had watched too many melodramas and truly believed the claim.

"So the eldest young lady felt that her father couldn't control himself, which led to her losing love, so she despised the deceased. But she didn't hate him enough to want him dead, so she castrated her own father and then gave that... to the doctor?" Qin Nan pondered the eldest young lady's logic.

He found himself in awe of her reasoning.

"She's quite a character," Qin Nan finally remarked.

  Mu Xin shrugged.

"Actually, I’m quite curious about the doctor's identity," Mu Xin said, turning her gaze to Jian Fan.

The doctor’s elaborate scheme didn’t seem aimed at having the eldest young lady castrate the deceased. So what was his true motive behind such a convoluted plan?

"He must be trying to stop the resurrection plan," Jian Fan explained succinctly.

  Mu Xin immediately understood.

The doctor's goal was to sow discord between the eldest young lady and the deceased. As long as she remembered the doctor, she could never interact with her father without any reservations, so she would inevitably keep her distance from the deceased.

The logic made sense, but the method—Mu Xin smirked, finding it rather ingenious.

"Perhaps there's another point: he probably hoped the eldest young lady would prevent the deceased from harming other girls," Jian Fan added.

This made even more sense because the deceased's reckless behavior had led to his own tragedy, making it more likely that the eldest young lady would want to stop him to prevent similar misfortunes from occurring again.

At this point, the general story background was clear.

The conversation returned to the main topic.

"From what I know about Lin Junru, she’s telling the truth; she’s not the murderer. So that leaves the other two. The player of the third young master is already dead, and the outcome is evident," Mu Xin said.

  That was indeed the case.

However, there was still one question.

"Even though we know who the murderer is, I’m not sure if the logic behind our analysis will be accepted in the realm of death," Mu Xin expressed her concern. This was also why she had proposed joining Jian Fan and Qin Nan's team at this moment.

She needed more information to piece together the full story.

She couldn’t just say that someone wasn’t the murderer because they were clever or because they were teammates; that wouldn’t hold up.

"Every line has its significance," Qin Nan suddenly said.

Mu Xin understood this point, but she was puzzled. "What are you trying to say?"

"If we assert that the murderer is Zheng Jueming, then let’s consider the accountant's perspective. The murderer used the Tai Chi diagram, which means he must also know the deceased's secret. So how did he find out? Connect the deceased's secret with his relationship with the third young lady," Qin Nan smirked. "Isn’t it all too obvious?"

"You think the accountant discovered the deceased's secret and then told the third young lady?" Jian Fan grasped Qin Nan's implication.

Given the current relationships, the third young lady couldn’t have informed the accountant, so it must have been the other way around. After that, the third young lady informed the third young master, and they began their act. If that were the case, then the accountant would have even more reason to want to take the third young lady away after her declaration; he didn't think the third young lady didn’t love the third young master; he just wanted to save his beloved.

"But what about the debts he owes? Doesn’t that connect?" Mu Xin raised a doubt.
