Knock, Knock, Knock

  “Hello, anybody home….”

  The police officer stood on the other side of the apartment door.

  He looked around as he waited, glancing at the apartment number “9”.

  “Yes, just a second” the voice exclaimed from the other side of the door.

  The door swayed open, the man's head peeking out from behind it to see the police officer standing in front of him.

  “Oh, Hello Officer”

  The Police officer stood at the average height for a man and was outfitted in standard police uniform, except for the set of three scarves tied around his arm.

  “Hey I’m Mike, do you mind if I ask you a few questions?” He spoke calmly and firm

  “Hey, I’m kage and yeah that's fine”

  “No worries” Mike exclaimed while he pulls out a notepad and flips through it while scanning its contents

  He observes kages appearance and jobs down a small description, “average height male, long hair, well dressed“

  “Okay so do you know anything about the disappearance of a girl that happened recently”

  Kage places one hand on his chin

  “Could you give me a little more to go off of”

  Sigh, “Well there was a girl who went missing, she was last seen at a coffee shop, you also happened to be there at the same time as her”

  A wave of shock comes over Kage

  “Did you see anyone shady? –or anyone with her when she left?”

  “No, I don't recall anything from when I was there, sorry…”

  Mike goes to say something but hesitates for a moment

  sigh “Well that's alright, call the station if you remember anything, Have a good day”

  Mike stepped away from the door, walking further down the hall

  Kage closes the door and stands facing away from the door

  THUD

  Kage fell to the ground in a shaking mess

  “HOW!”

  “H-How did they get this close to me”

  He wrapped his arms around his head and bunches his hair with his hands

  Mike was still outside in the hallway on the radio to another cop who was positioned in a car outside

  “Yeah so i questioned that guy about that girl who went missing”

  Mike begins to pace in a line across the hallway

  “We might push push him about it in further at a later date but lets question our other leads first”

  The voice on the radio came through crunchy and staticy

  “Righto, i’ll see you back at the car Mike”

  Mike lowers his radio and places it back into his pocket, He lights a cigarette and begins to walk towards the end of the hall

  Kage lightly swing open the door and walks quietly towards mike, a smirk forms across his face

  They suspect me.

  I know they do.

  They know it was me.

  Kage revealed a knife from his pocket after eventually catching up to mike

  He gripped the handle tightly grits his teeth and

  SLAASH!

  Kage had cut the back of Mike's neck, he stumbled forward about to fall over, blood running down his back.

  COUGH!– COUGH!

  A scarf around his arm bursts into flames and releases embers into the air before disappearing completely

  The wound had turned into a freshly healed scar

  Mike stands back up, turns around and points his gun directly at Kage

  “I knew you did it… Even though you played innocent i knew it had to be you, I wanted to arrest you but there wasn’t enough evidence”

  “But i think this will be evidence enough to convict you”

  Kage stood shaking

  “WHAT! I slashed your neck, WHAT HAPPENED!?”

  Kage begins to tremble, his eyes shaking

  “HOW DID THAT WOUND HEAL YOU ASSHOLE!”

  Kage lunged at Mike with the knife firmly held in his hand

  “What an idiot”

  BANG!!!

  Mike had pulled the trigger, the bullet grazed Kage's hand and nailed him directly in the chest, cracking his sternum along with a few ribs.

  Kage collapsed, his knife fell out of his hand and onto the ground along with him, he landed slumped over

  With that sharp motion one of his cracked ribs managed to stab a lung

  “AAAAAAHH!!!”

  His screams echoed throughout the halls

  With pained breath Kage Attempts to get out a laugh but releases a wheeze followed by him choking on the pool of blood forming in his lungs

  He looked up at Mike then back down to the hole in his chest

  “HOW”

  “How, did he do that”

  Kage fell onto his back with an agonising jolt of pain that flowed through his body

  Mike could be heard on the radio explaining what had happened to the other officer in the car

  “HOLY SHIT MIKE!”

  “Look it wasn’t my fault i was trying to shoot his hand to try and disarm him”

  “We are fuuuuuuucked, you know that right”

  Kages nervous system began to shut down

  Still laying on the ground looking up at mike, he gripped onto the last bit of life he had

  His eyes had lost all signs of life

  And his vision faded to black.
