Prologue- A princess

  Avian capital, Jaritan (2010)

Returning to my father and my childhood home was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made. The pain of separation from the two people I treasured most created a tender ache. The love and warmth ripped away because of one horrific, life changing truth.

Forgive me. Oh, GODS forgive me.

Even now, being escorted by a dark knight, I wanted more than ever to return, but that was no longer an option. I made my choice, and there is no chance of going back. For their safety, I couldn’t.

The dark knight towered over me, monitoring my every move. His black armor barely made a noise despite its heavy appearance. Strange symbols lined across his arms and legs, yet the one that stood out the most was the one adorning his chest. His presence demanded attention, and forced others to look in his direction. And every time I glanced at him, I felt a strong sense of fear and a deep, terrible awe. There was no defying him, much less my father whom I was now returning to. Such a contrast to those I had left behind me.

I sent one final plea to the Gods above.

Please take care of them. Keep them safe. May they always know my love.

With tears flowing from my eyes, knowing they wouldn’t be the last as I stepped into the throne room to greet my father.
