Chapter Thirty: Supreme Spirit Pill

After returning from Xianglu Peak, Zhao Di almost flew to Bailu Pavilion every day. In the cultivation world for tens of thousands of years, there were countless strange and wonderful things and magical materials and techniques that could not be counted. Zhao Di was very interested in these things, and he also wanted to find clues about the Qiankun small cauldron and his past life in the classics. Moreover, he really didnt dare to take out the small cauldron from the stone house to cultivate Dan medicine, so he simply spent most of his time in Bailu Pavilion.

Bailu Pavilion, also known as Bailu Cave, was built in a natural cave on the White Deer Peak, occupying almost half of the mountain peak, much wider than the entire Xīn Rén Valley.

Unfortunately, Bai Lu Pavilion only opens its first floor to outer sect disciples, while the second floor and above are only open to inner sect disciples or foundation-building cultivators.

However, the number of books in this first layer is also astonishing, with more than tens of thousands. Half are made of jade slips, and some are recorded on paper or animal skin handkerchiefs.

Although Zhao Di had a talent for remembering everything he saw, even if he read at a speed of ten lines at a glance, these books would be enough to keep him occupied for a year and a half.

After a few days of casual browsing, Zhao Di divided the books on the first floor into four major categories.

One category is the foundational skills and techniques manual. There are actually over a thousand volumes, more than a hundred types of various foundational skills for the Qi Refining stage, and even several cultivation techniques for heterodox spiritual roots. The dozen or so foundational skills that Zhao Di saw in the Flowing Clouds Auction House were all present here. Its no wonder its a renowned sect, with thousands of years of accumulation, even the foundational skills are this comprehensive.

However, these basic exercises are of no use to Zhao Di. The "Zhu Lang Quan" he is currently learning is a basic exercise that has been passed down for over a thousand years and has been repeatedly proven to be relatively quick to practice. He would never do something as foolish as switching to another basic exercise to cultivate. Although there are many basic exercises here, the most suitable ones for the majority of cultivators to use are still the dozen or so most widely spread ones.

Zhao usually just reads the beginning of this kind of book and then immediately puts it aside.

The second type is books that introduce various common materials, spiritual medicines, and famous places for cultivation. There are not a few such books, but there is a lot of repetitive content between each book. Zhao Di only picked out a dozen or so more detailed ones to read carefully, and didnt bother with the rest.

The third category is books that introduce techniques such as talismans, alchemy, elixir refinement, and array methods. There are only over a hundred of these types of books, and they all record very rough details. However, these things are actually the most practical, and Zhao Di has read through every single one without exception.

The fourth category of books are biographies and strange stories. They are written by some cultivators about the various strange events they encountered during their cultivation career, as well as commentaries on certain things. These books have the largest number and the most chaotic content. However, they are the ones that Zhao Di reads the most.

Among them, an ancient jade slip called "Wang Luns Theory on Dan" particularly caught Zhao Dis attention. It was a book written by a Taoist named Wang Lun thousands of years ago, detailing the properties and effects of several types of elixirs. The dozen or so elixirs mentioned in the jade slip were all unheard of to Zhao Di, and he suspected that they had long since disappeared from the world of cultivation. However, Wang Luns theory on the classification and evaluation of elixirs deeply captivated Zhao Di.

In this jade scroll, Wang Lun divides elixirs into four grades: waste-grade elixir, inferior-grade elixir, accomplished-grade elixir and superior-grade elixir.

The so-called waste product pill is a large error in the refining of pills, resulting in a change in medicinal properties and producing toxic pills that must not be taken. The second-rate pill is when the fire is not well controlled during the refining process or the opening time is not precisely controlled, resulting in the loss of medicinal properties and the formation of ineffective pills. Taking second-rate pills has almost no effect, and taking too many can also cause the cultivators body to produce a certain degree of drug resistance, making it a kind of pill with little use.

As for the finished elixir, it is the usual spiritual medicine.

The classification methods of these Dan medicines are roughly the same as what Zhang, the boss of "Miao Dan Tang" in Liu Yun Fang Shi, said. However, Wang Lun also mentioned another type of Dan medicine - Extreme Grade Dan, which shocked Zhao Di greatly.

According to the Jade Annals, it is said that when ancient alchemists refined elixirs, if they used high-quality spiritual medicine materials for a long time, there was an extremely low probability of refining a top-grade elixir, roughly less than one in ten thousand. Only those who spent their entire lives refining only one or two types of elixirs had the opportunity to refine tens of thousands of the same type of elixir, and perhaps they might have a chance to witness the creation of a top-grade elixir once in their lifetime. The vast majority of alchemists were completely unaware of the existence of top-grade elixirs, let alone ordinary cultivators.

Wang Lun also described the so-called top-grade elixir in Yu Jian: it has an abundance of spiritual energy, several or even dozens of times that of ordinary finished elixirs. The quality of the elixir is also more transparent, appearing semi-transparent.

Zhao Di was shocked in his heart. The description of this top-grade elixir matched the spiritual elixir cultivated by his mysterious small cauldron very well. Could it be that he had obtained a top-grade spiritual elixir?

Yu Jian also records that Wang Lun himself had never taken the Extreme Pill, but he heard from cultivators who had taken this kind of pill that the Extreme Pill was too precious to be used just for cultivation. This rare spiritual elixir is very effective when a cultivator breaks through their bottleneck. If they take an Extreme Pill at the time of breaking through, the possibility of success will greatly increase.

Zhao Di nodded secretly in his heart, the things recorded by this cultivator from ten thousand years ago coincided with his own thoughts. When he took the extreme-grade spiritual elixir cultivated from the small cauldron to cultivate, he indeed rarely encountered a bottleneck feeling. Usually, as long as his cultivation and spiritual power were sufficient, he could smoothly advance to the next layer. It was also because of this that he was able to cultivate from the fifth layer of the Qi Refining stage to the eleventh layer in just over three years. If it were another cultivator, they might have been stuck at the bottleneck of the tenth layer for two or three years, unable to make any progress.

Since he had confirmed the miraculous effect of the top-grade spirit dan, Zhao Di made some adjustments to the order in which he would take his medicinal pills. He planned to use ordinary dan medicine that was upgraded from inferior dan during his usual cultivation to improve his cultivation; and only when he needed to break through a bottleneck and advance his cultivation to the next level would he use the top-grade spirit dan. This way, he wouldnt waste too many top-grade spirit dans in his daily cultivation, and then find himself developing resistance to them when it was time to make a breakthrough, thus missing a good opportunity.

About a month after Zhao Di entered the sect, he indeed received a notice from the sect and was assigned as an apprentice to refine equipment. He was told to report immediately to Master Kuang at Zhaoyin Peak.

"That old horse still has some credibility, he took the spirit stone and handled things properly." Zhao Di thought this as he flew towards Zhaoyin Peak. He welcomed this kind of direct benefit exchange, after all it was better than those hypocrites who were insincere and plotted in secret. But unfortunately, there were many more of the latter type.

After flying for several hours, Zhao Di arrived near the Zhaoyin Peak, which was shrouded in dense clouds and fog. He was attracted by the landmark of Zhaoyin Peak - Zhaoyin Spring. This is a spiritual spring at the foot of Zhaoyin Peak, formed by the convergence of countless streams between the mountain walls. It is also one of the three major spiritual springs in the Kuanglu Mountains, famous for its crystal-clear water quality and pure taste. Around the spiritual spring, there are several lush tea trees, which are the famous Yunwu Lingmeng tea. There is a delicate small pavilion with four corners beside the spring. Occasionally, some Taoist monks who love tea would gather here in twos and threes to boil Yunwu Lingmeng tea with Zhaoyin Spring water, tasting the tea while discussing the Tao, which was quite a leisurely and joyful scene.

Zhao Di saw that there were already two Qi-refining stage cultivators waiting in the small pavilion, and estimated that they were also outer disciples assigned to be refining tool apprentices.

One of them, Zhao Di, also knew that it was Ma Gao who proposed the theory of "Tai Xu Mens Four Great Immortal Families" on that day.

Ma Gao also recognized Zhao Di and greeted him from a distance. Zhao Di immediately landed beside the small pavilion, putting away his flying feather artifact.

"Brother Zhao, youve also been assigned to the Refining Equipment Division?" Ma Gao asked after bowing.

Zhao Di also bowed to the two monks and replied: "Right, both of you are the same, arent you?"

"Haha, this shows that our fates are not shallow. We must support each other in the future! Brother Zhao, this is Fang Fufang Daoyou. Brother Fang, this is Zhao Dizhao Daoyou." Ma Gao introduced the two men.

Zhao Di and the Taoist priest also clasped their fists in greeting, both saying "its fortunate we met".

Ma Gao said, "I arrived a moment earlier than the two fellow Taoists and have already sent out the transmission talisman. I suppose it wont be long before a passage opens up to allow us three to enter this Zhaoyin Peak. This Zhaoyin Peak is indeed a major site for our sects equipment refinement and alchemy, with this large-scale restrictive spell formation enveloping the entire peak being activated all year round. Its said that even Foundation Establishment cultivators cant easily break through the array and enter."

Three people gazed at the mountain peaks in front of them, where thick clouds were rolling, each lost in their own thoughts, and for a moment, they were speechless.
