Inside Veltins-Arena's VIP box,
Su's parents were hugging each other excitedly.
"Son's dad, goal, goal! Haha, our Su scored again!"
"Dear, how many times must I tell you - it's not a goal, it's an assist!"
"I don't care! It was still our Su who made it happen!"
This was the first time the elderly couple had watched Su play live. The earth-shaking atmosphere nearly gave them heart palpitations from excitement.
But what they felt most profoundly was the bone-deep pride radiating through them.
The name being chanted by the entire stadium belonged to their son.
Standing beside them, Wu and Zhang were equally exhilarated.
"NiuBi!!! Brother Su is amazing!"
"That pass was fucking brilliant! That was Robben and Ribéry he beat! I've got goosebumps all over!"
"Right, Zhang? At this level, Su could single-handedly dominate the entire CSL back home!"
Wu was already babbling excitedly.
Zhang, ever the more composed one, took out his notebook and began sketching the play he'd just witnessed.
With a few practiced strokes, Zhang quickly diagrammed Bayern's defensive positioning during the attack.
He carefully analyzed Lahm's movement - in his professional opinion, Lahm's positioning and decision-making had been flawless.
The timing of Lahm's interception attempt was perfect. But Su was simply too strong - that hurried, desperate pass at top speed would normally have a low success rate.
Yet Su made it.
This was the kind of skill and confidence only a true superstar possessed.
Any other player, and Lahm would have intercepted it 100%.
"Huh? Are you a coach?"
Carvajal suddenly noticed Zhang's notebook.
As a professional agent, Carvajal immediately recognized the tactical drawings. Seeing the well-worn notebook nearly filled to the end, he assumed this young man was a Chinese coach studying tactics.
Knowing Zhang didn't speak German, Carvajal switched to English.
Zhang, having studied English intensively for his overseas stay, easily handled this basic communication.
"No sir, I'm a player!"
"Oh! Su's friend, I see. Do you want to come play in Germany too?"
As soon as he heard "player," Carvajal immediately understood their aspirations.
"Well..."
Zhang hesitated at Carvajal's question. He did want to play in Germany, but his contract was currently held by Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao FC. The chances of going abroad now seemed slim.
The reason was simple:
Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao FC was simply too wealthy!
Their financial power overwhelmed all other considerations - even more so than in Su's case.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
Seeing Zhang's speechless expression, Carvajal just smiled knowingly.
After all, it was just casual conversation. In his view, for a football desert like China to produce one Su was already miraculous. Could they really produce another?
...........
On the sidelines, van Gaal was erupting in fury!
He directed his wrath at van Bommel on the field:
"Damn it! Play it wide!!! Don't even think about dribbling - just send it to the flanks!"
Van Gaal was no soft touch.
Even against the team's decorated captain, he showed no courtesy.
Perhaps his own mistake had led to that second conceded goal...
On the pitch, van Bommel hung his head under van Gaal's furious tirade.
He'd already experienced that Chinese player's speed firsthand.
Fine!
It was unbelievable, but this kid was genuinely too strong.
If I were eighteen too...
I...
I still couldn't fucking beat him! What the hell is this kid made of? How can someone improve this much in half a season?
Play resumed after Klaas-Jan Huntelaar finished celebrating with his Schalke 04 teammates.
Only fifteen minutes in,
this was Klose's third kickoff.
He'd barely touched the ball these past two possessions.
With Bayern's attack completely disjointed, he and Metzelder had actually been chatting idly.
This time, after receiving the ball from Klose,
the stubborn van Bommel finally abandoned thoughts of challenging Su again.
Dragging the ball back with his right foot,
van Bommel played it safely to Lahm on the right flank.
He immediately sprinted around Su and charged into the attacking third.
After receiving the pass, Lahm - before Klaas-Jan Huntelaar could close him down - made a wide lateral pass to Ribéry on the left flank.
A brilliant chest trap!
Ribéry controlled the ball perfectly while turning to launch his attack down the left wing.
Müller began drifting toward Ribéry's position.
Vardy tracked back to mark Ribéry despite the obvious physical mismatch.
But at 27 years old, Ribéry was in his absolute prime. Not even world-class fullbacks could contain him, let alone the diminutive Vardy.
With his right foot, he dragged the ball slightly backward. As it reached his heel, he flicked it left while sharply angling his body in that direction.
Simultaneously, his left foot planted firmly as his right foot propelled the ball forward!
This entire sequence happened in the blink of an eye -
literally faster than Vardy could blink!
Ribéry and the ball simply vanished from Vardy's sight!
Vardy desperately spun to chase, but he was facing peak Ribéry.
Though fast himself, Vardy stood no chance of recovery.
Now Bayern Munich was finally displaying the cutting edge that made them Bundesliga champions!
Klose charged furiously into the central area!
Müller continued his diagonal run leftward!
That movement forced Baby Baumann to shadow him closely.
Meanwhile, Schweinsteiger surged toward Schalke 04's penalty area -
with Su tightly marking him!
Ribéry rapidly advanced toward Atsuto Uchida.
Uchida had been struggling recently.
After being humiliated by Pedro in the Champions League, he'd barely regained confidence in the Bundesliga before encountering another world-class winger today.
Compared to Pedro's tricky footwork, Ribéry simply overpowered him with pure speed and directness.
Uchida couldn't match that pace.
One explosive burst -
and Uchida was beaten!
Without hesitation, Ribéry steadied himself and whipped a cross into the box.
There!
Klose had already positioned himself between Schweinsteiger and Müller - three aerial threats converging!
"Klose!!!"
"The jump!!!"
"Klose reaches it first at the near post!"
"Oh!!!"
"What a pity!"
"Metzelder's challenge made Klose put too much power into that header!"
"The ball sails over the crossbar!"
"Goal kick for Schalke 04!"
Klose's missed opportunity somewhat calmed van Gaal on the sidelines.
The manager shouted instructions to his players:
"Keep working the flanks!"
And the match -
it seemed only now had the real battle begun!
Bayern Munich attacking down the wings,
Schalke 04 pressing through the center!
The two teams engaged in one of the Bundesliga's most frenetic clashes!
