Chapter Fifteen: The Flaw of the Underground City

The black stone tower that suddenly appeared quickly became the center of discussion among the residents of Brandon Stone Castle. As underground dwellers in the northern wilderness, the gray dwarves of Brandon Stone Castle were probably experiencing the power of magic for the first time in such a direct way. In just one nights time, a stone tower of such grandeur could be built. The speed alone was terrifying to hear; if it were the gray dwarves doing it, even without rest or sleep, they would likely need at least a week to complete it.

But for that terrible lich wizard, it was just a blink of an eye.

In the face of this absolute power, Brandons stronghold finally calmed down. The cunning and treacherous gray dwarves certainly understood what this meant, although they had long known that Kardok, as the ruling official, invited the death mage, but privately not everyone agreed with Kardoks approach. However, now the opposing voices have completely dissipated. Perhaps in the dark shadows of the mine tunnels, there are still whispers of complaints, but no one is foolish enough to question this issue face-to-face again.

Kardel was also both pained and delighted by this. On the one hand, he rather enjoyed the fearful glances of those grey dwarves who thought they had already formed an alliance with the necromancer; on the other hand, he was worried that the mercurial necromancer might give him a "little lesson" due to his own complacency.

Unfortunately, once you get on a pirate ship, its not that easy to get off. Now, apart from using the intimidation of the Lich to consolidate his position and trying every means to get closer to Jan, Kardel has no other choice.

As for Kardoks idea, Jian didnt have the interest to pay attention. That gray dwarf official was a slippery fellow, and if it wasnt necessary, Jian wouldnt bother to deal with him either. For Jian, what was most important was still the construction work of the underground city, but unfortunately, although the upgrade and renovation of the underground city system had been completed, there was still a troublesome problem...

"I think we should stop summoning undead creatures, Master."

Standing beside Jann, Enyas expression was still calm as usual, but her eyes revealed a deep concern.

  "Yes, I also saw it..."

Upon hearing his deputys words, Zhan Enring crossed his arms and nodded slightly in displeasure. Looking around, one could see that the entire underground city was shrouded in a thick layer of white mist, with frost covering the ceiling and floor, seeping into the cracks on the ground, making it seem like a massive ice cave. The biting chill hit them head-on, Zhan Enring was fine, but Beike Sis small face had turned pale, her teeth chattering.

Its not because there are four seasons in the underground, but simply as Enyo said - they summoned too many undead creatures.

After returning, Zhans power expanded further, and now his dungeon had more than a dozen undead creatures. Although this number of monsters patrolling the dungeon was sufficient, it brought an unintended side effect.

The undead are the spirits of the dead, and they are feared by the living not only because they are walking corpses, but also because they themselves are death, emitting an aura of death wherever they go, which is why the living keep their distance. In the words of Jians hometown, its just too yin.

Dozens of undead creatures roam the underground city, turning Jains underground city into a real tomb. In this environment surrounded by death, any living thing will be unlucky. If you inhale too much dead air, youll either fall seriously ill or die. Even as a demon, Jain cant stay in such a place for too long, otherwise hed have to consider turning himself into an undead creature.

"Disperse the female monsters to patrol the outskirts of the dungeon and just throw the remaining few undead creatures inside."

After a moments thought, Zhan En quickly made his move. Fortunately, this also had its advantages, if the other party was just an undead creature, they might only treat this place as a tomb, and this disguise would be very useful for Zhan En.

To think that other demon kings sons would be eager to carve the name of their underground castle on a sign outside, while I have to deliberately conceal it... Ah, this is indeed the difference.

Shaking his head and sighing, Zhan En turned around and walked towards the study.

"By the way, Enya, hows things with Verna?"

"So far everything is normal and theres nothing unusual."

After that, the lonely and isolated Verna was thrown into the Blackstone Tower by Jain to be in charge of guarding. The half-blood dark elf did not raise any objections or show any intention of escaping. She was very clear that after losing the mercenary group, she alone could not stir up any major waves in the Dark Territory. At least with Jain by her side, having this undead mage as a backing would allow her to live somewhat more stably. If she were to leave Blackstone Tower recklessly, Jain couldnt guarantee what the outside gray dwarves would do to this lone and unsupported dark elf.

Although the Dark Elves have a bad reputation, are the Grey Dwarves just vegetarians? Not to mention others, which race that can live in the dark underground until now without becoming someone elses slave is not having two brushes?

And its still yellow and red.

"Do you think our deal with Brandon Stonewall is feasible at this point?"

Pushing open the door to the study, Zhen En let out a yawn and then looked over at Enoia. However, in response to her masters inquiry, Enoia shook her head with a worried expression.

"Im sorry, master. I dont trust the dwarves. If it were just an occasional transaction, that would be one thing, but if were going to have a long-term stable trade channel, I worry the dwarves will get other ideas."

  "This is also a problem..."

Upon hearing this, Zhan En involuntarily furrowed his brow.

Zhan En is currently not short of money or treasure, but he lacks something very important - food.

Before this, Jenns food was all prepared by Enoa, basically obtained through hunting the subterranean lizards in the surrounding area. The amount wasnt much, but since there was only one living person, Jenn, it was enough. Even now that Becks has arrived, the dwarfs appetite is only at the level of a normal human child, so it doesnt need to be worried about.

But if you want to summon other racial creatures, especially rare ones, as long as they are alive, they will inevitably need to eat. The rarer and more powerful the creature, the larger its appetite. Now, Jains food reserves on this side are only enough for him and Bixie, and if he summons again, it will be a rhythm of famine. In this way, a large amount of food reserves is needed.

And thats where Enyos concern comes from. If it was just occasional purchases of food, the Grey Dwarves wouldnt mind. But if regular large-scale purchases are enough to feed an army, unless the Grey Dwarf official is an idiot, even a fool can see the problem.

Not to mention the money spent on buying these foods is also a trouble for Zhan. Employing monsters also requires payment, and its only natural for an employer to provide employees with food, shelter, and salary. If someone comes from another space to risk their life for you, wouldnt they expect some compensation?

Thats why Jann chose to summon undead creatures - they dont need to be paid, nor do they need to eat, and their combat strength is not weak. Of course, the undead are not without flaws, like the undead creature that Jann summoned now has already reached its limit, if Jann summons again, the underground city that cant withstand the invasion of death aura will really be finished.

Thats why no player has ever built a pure undead dungeon in the game - this is truly "asking for death".

"It seems like its really troublesome..."

Sitting back at his desk, Jian opened the thick book in front of him and muttered to himself. What the underground city lacked was a good circulation system. If Jian could open up the location of the underground city and lure adventurers in, he might be able to make some money. But for now, his underground city was still very weak, and it could barely handle those disorganized and undisciplined fools. If a slightly stronger team came, his underground city would probably need major repairs.

Just as Jian En was deep in thought, a sweet and clear voice suddenly appeared, interrupting his train of thought.

"Well, let me help you solve this problem then?"

Upon hearing the voice, Enyo immediately stepped forward to block Zhans path. At the same time, the dimly lit and trembling shadow in the study suddenly seemed to burn like a flame, swelling and twisting. Next, a petite and slender figure emerged from the flames, emitting a silvery laughter.

That was a girl who looked about the same age as Enyo, but unlike Enyos big sister dress, the girl in front of her was wearing a black and white tailcoat that only men would wear, with shiny black leather boots reflecting the candlelight. Her fiery red long hair was tied into two ponytails hanging down from her shoulders, looking very neat and mature.

The girl just walked out of the flames and then solemnly bowed down, respectfully saluting Zhan En.

"Long time no see, Your Highness Prince Zain. Kuris Gaien Merchant Association is at your service, your needs are our honor... May I ask what can I help you with?"

"What brings you here, Miss Clarice?"

Facing the girls words, Jian En simply stretched out his hand, pushed his glasses up, and then reluctantly opened his mouth to ask.
