Chapter 1 Bad News
Lu Chengfeng was impatiently waiting at the airport, although he had already agreed on a time with his parents, but more than ten minutes after the plane landed, his parents were still nowhere to be seen, and their phones couldn't be reached either. This made him very unhappy, as waiting was never supposed to happen to him. His irritable and impatient demeanor intimidated those around him.
Twenty minutes have passed, and his parents still haven't shown up. He gets up and walks away in big strides when the phone in his pocket vibrates. He answers it with a tone of discontent: "Old Wang, what's going on? Why haven't my parents come to pick me up yet?"
"Master, something's wrong! Master and Madam have had an accident, they're in the hospital now. I'm already at the airport, you'd better hurry up and come out, if you're late, it'll probably be too late." Then it directly turned into a busy tone.
Lu Chengfeng thought he had misheard, but looking at the phone in his hand, no, it wasn't a dream, he hadn't misheard. His father and mother hadn't appeared on time, not because they stood him up, but because something had happened. Something had happened? He didn't have time to think about Old Wang's words, Lu Chengfeng quickly got out of the car and saw the dazzling sports car, directly getting in without waiting for Old Wang to speak, asking himself: "I don't want to hear anything else, hurry to the hospital as fast as possible, I want Father and Mother to be fine."
Old Wang didn't say a word, started the car, and what was originally a half-hour drive took only half that time. Lu Chengfeng, sitting in the car, had sweat on his palms. Yes, he was terrified, afraid of that intangible fear that occupied all his breath. From childhood to adulthood, he had experienced all sorts of situations, but never such tension. It turned out that even he was just an ordinary person in the face of death.
Despite a thousand unwillingness to accept this fact, the car still stopped in front of the hospital. Old Wang quickly opened the door and got out of the car. The hospital director and police appeared together with Lu Chengfeng, because no one dared to offend this man.
My feet feel like they weigh a thousand pounds, every step is so difficult. The pungent smell of the hospital makes me want to vomit. If I could, I wouldn't come to this place for the rest of my life. Dad and Mom, I've been away from you since I was little, but now that I'm finally grown up and back home, I want to be with you. Please promise me you won't get sick, don't let anything happen to yourselves. Dad and Mom, I need you to live, you must live.
"Mr. Lu, please be prepared for the worst, as the car accident was very severe. Mr. Lu has already passed away in the ambulance, and Mrs. Lu is still being treated," the police officer said with a slight tremble. As soon as these words were spoken, Lu Chengfeng could hear the sound of his own heart shattering. His prayers had been in vain, and he had actually heard the news of his father's death. He felt an icy chill spread throughout his body, and the cold air seemed to be closing in on him. Just after finishing this sentence, the police officer could sense the chill emanating from Lu Chengfeng, and even unrelated people would be affected by it.
"Tell me? What's going on?" Lu Chengfeng suppressed his emotions, forcing himself to speak in the most ordinary tone, but he had already reached his limit. Death, how frightening a word it was, and yet it happened to Father, the one he loved the most, respected the most. He didn't even have the chance to say goodbye. Clenching his fists, quickening his pace, he wished all of this were just an illusion.
"It was the other party's fault, they were in a hurry and ran the red light. Later it was discovered that they were actually driving under the influence. Mr. Lu and Mrs. Lu are completely innocent." The police officer said with some guilt and more tension, afraid that if he wasn't careful, he would be implicated himself.
