201. Dessert

  Julianne: Oh... really?

Rose: Uh huh. She isn't really interested in cooking shows, or even T.V.

Tiffany, at that point, flinched. Hearing her name mentioned and herself being talked about, truly an uncomfortable feeling

  Julianne: Really?

Rose: Yeah! I've never seen Tiff watch anything in T.V before. Never ever.

Julianne: I see. (thinking: This girl...)

She had to admit, this young teenage girl was truly something. She fought alongside super powered beings and held her own, had a particularly honourable personality, and to top it all off, had the discipline not to watch T.V. Truly, she was a remarkable teenage girl.

  Rose: But it's ok.

She turned to Tiff with a bright smile.

Rose: She's the bestest best friend ever and the bestest team leader ever!

Tiffany was almost shocked to hear that, not just because Rose said it or how she'd said it, but also, because she could sense that Rose meant every word she'd said. In a sense, she was somewhat flattered to hear that.

As for Julianne, she had long since figured out that she was the team leader. Something that only served to improve her standing in her eyes.

Rose: There's no one on Earth like Tiff. Absolutely no one!

And that actually made Tiffany pause. Being flattered like that around others was, in a way, embarrassing.

Julianne: Hmmm. I can believe that.

  Rose: Yeah. She's super special.

And as if to add insult to injury...

Luke: Yep. She really is something...

For a second, Ken considered things, and then....

  Ken: Hmph. Seconded.

Tiffany's face turned red, not only in embarrassment, but also in something of a rage. She knew Luke and Ken knew she wouldn't enjoy being praised like this, and so this was, for the most part, just teasing.

  Julianne: (giggle) I see.

Had Julianne joined in? That just made things even worse.

In defeat, the blond girl simply lowered her head. What could she say? Stop? Please stop? That wouldn't work.

As for Julianne, she noted this. All that had happened that night was progress. Sure, they still didn't speak to her directly, but being able to speak somewhat freely in her presence, that was a huge improvement over their previous situation.

And so, she was satisfied and full willing to let the night end. Of course, she would attempt to get them to stay the night, as she knew from her teen days that sleep overs built friendships at an incredible pace.

But, in her mind, what she'd done was sufficient.

Julianne: (thinking: At the very least, they'll only feel a little awkward coming to visit.)

But, in the meanwhile, she'd have her fun.

And she'd have it till she the night was done.

Julianne: Alright, let me take your glasses.

  Rose: Ok...

And with that, clones climbed out of Julianne Hunter, one after the other.

  Rose: Wooooooaaahhh!

Ken: Hmmm (thinking: So she can make more than one of them...)

  Luke: Huh?

And when the mother was done, five clones were created, and immediately made for a different glass.

  Julianne 2: Hiya kids!

  Julianne 3: Hello!

Julianne 4: Oh, let me get that for you.

  Julianne 5: Excuzez moi

Julianne 6: I got it, no need to worry.

And the original Julianne took Max's own glass and gave it to Julianne 2.

  Julianne: Do you mind?

  Julianne 2: Do you?

And then all the clones started laughing all at once, amusing Luke and Rose, and slightly unnerving Ken and Tiffany. As for Max, he was completely unamused, as he'd seen this happen several times before.

Julianne: (sighing after laughter) Oh.. sorry kids, clone humor.

Rose: (giggling) Oh, I get it. It's because all of you are the same.

  All Julianne clones: That's right!

And they all walked over to the sink and placed the glasses there, one after the other, each one dissipating right after dropping the glass there.

Julianne 2: (bowing) And with that, I bid you ado!

Julianne 3: Now remember kids, it's always....

Julianne 4: (continuing) ... healthy to wash...

Julianne 5: ... your hands right after you eat.

Julianne 6: It's hygenic. (to Max) Bye sweetie!

Rose: (clapping) Wow! Your clones are so cool.

  Julianne: Thanks Rose.

Ken, on the other handwas in deep thought.

  Julianne: Something wrong, Ken?

  Ken: Hmmm. No... it's....

He had a complex question. One that he really wanted to ask, but... talking to her?

But since he really wanted to know...

  Julianne: Well... it's...

Ken: You said.... you made clones out of dead cells, do I have it correct?

  Julianne: Well, y...

She almost instantly figured out what he'd meant.

Julianne: (thinking: This teen.... he's....) Yes. And that, of course, means that there is a limit to how many clones I can make for a time.

Ken: (thinking: It's just as I figured.)

  Rose: Wait! Really!

Julianne: Mmm hmm. Right now, I don't really have that many more in me. Maybe 4, maybe 8. But... that's about it.

  Rose: Oh....!

Julianne: Yeah. Kudos to you for figuring that out, Ken.

Ken flinched. All he really wanted to do was satisfy his curiosity.

  Ken: (uncomfortably) Well... I...

Julianne: No really, that was a good question.

And even then, Julianne was happier. Max's friends were slowly becoming more comfortable. Maybe it would be feasible to have them stay over.

Now, she just had to wait. She wouldn't force things. Just... wait.

  Julianne: So, who wants desert?

The eyes of Tiffany, Luke, and Ken widened.

Julianne: Oh.. just kidding. But if you want any, there's some leftover cake in the fridge.

  Rose: Really?

Julianne: Uh huh. It's from all our baking from the other day.

  Rose: Oh! Ok!

She giddily ran to the fridge, as for the others, a breath of relief left their chests.

"Finally, something about this dinner that was normal."
