  Holy shit.

  I've done it.

  This is my first log from the other side of the gate. Now, I know there won't be any two way communication here, but at least I can record my findings and pass them back to you so you can do with them what you need. All the footwork is up to you now, so don't let yourself get caught up in the fine details and miss the big picture, kid! Judging from the looks of this place, you're going to be up to your ears in data to sift through and comb over. I'll do my best on my end, but just in case...

  I can already imagine what things will be like when I get back home. The discoveries we'll have made, the valuable research we've collected, and the incredible findings that will no doubt change the world. Who knows, maybe we'll even earn a Peace Prize for this?

  You can't say you haven't dreamt of it yourself, either, kid. So shut up. I know you're making a face right now.

  I'm about to head in deeper and I'll keep you posted. So far all I can see is lush forest. Something is chirping nearby, but other than the whistling of the wind through the trees, I'm alone as far as I can tell. What kind of life this place holds is a mystery, that much is certain. But Orbeetle and I are prepared for anything we'll encounter here.

  There are Pokémon here!

  The first one we've seen, a little Dedenne, came up to our camp for the warmth of my heater during a storm. It nestled at my feet after barely a sniff of my scent. The creature was incredibly trusting, and when it woke up, I startled it by moving my foot. It almost felt like it hadn't even seen me as a living thing until I moved.

  Not a good sign that humans can/do live here, but who knows?

  I've found signs of life. Human life.

  But...

  I don't think there's any of us left here.

  Everything is in ruins. Buildings and cities, what looked like quite advanced civilization, all demolished and left to rot under the growth of the earth. There are no remains thus far, however. You'd think that if a civilization was wiped out, there would be bones still left on the surface. How long has it been since humans lived here? None of the Pokémon here seem to understand what I am. Some are curious and some are scared, but I am certain that humankind is new to them.

  I've set up waystations in various places to provide shelter and aid to the wild Pokémon here, and in return they provide valuable research. Each way station has a computer connected to the gate, so any information the waystation collects can be passed on to you. I can only do so much on my end, after all, since you're the one with all the fancy equipment back at the lab.

  I may have uncovered clues about this world that I don't fully understand. Something in this world ended human civilization, but Pokémon life continued on. Was it the doing of a legendary beast? Something otherworldly? As turbulent as the conditions here are, if it was the environment, then surely the Pokémon would have been lost too.

  There's a site nearby that may have answers to these questions. I'll be checking it out tomorrow. But for now, I rest.
