TJoCZ Day 33

Tuesday, July 03, 2018, 12:00 PM Norfolk, VA

I woke up with a purpose to get this firearm upgrade project done as quickly as possible. I rushed to get up and get ready, almost dumping Rex on his ass as I did. He recovered quickly, but harrumphed as he did. I apologized as I rushed, knowing that I needed to get things done quickly. I grabbed a bit of food and water from the new Field Provision Box, took care of the daily hygiene related tasks, and went about meditating to regain my battery of energy.

As soon as I was ready, even before sunrise, I started to work on enhancing the firearms. I know I heard Rex tell me at one point that he was just going to relax and grab a bite to eat or something from the Field Provision Box and read his books until it was closer to sunrise. I spent the next seven hours straight working on the rifles. When I was done, it was lunch time, so I went and got the next set of food and water from the FPB, re-flavored the water and the food, and sat for a quick lunch. I knew that I needed to spend eight hours working on other things, or I would not be able to regain the spells that I had expended in enhancing the guns for the order.

I quickly thought about making the process more… automatic. I figured that I could look into making a cabinet that could perform the spell, if sufficient salt was provided, of course. I figured that I could work on the whole process later. With a requirement for time to pass, I decided to do my next favorite thing, I put the FBP in my Handy Haversack and got my bike ready. I headed to the Norfolk Shelter and talked with the person there. I told them that if they were okay with it, I would be dropping off what were considered “trail rations”, and that they were safe, but they were magical, in that if they were not consumed within 24 hours, they would disappear, same with the water that I was providing. I added that I would work on getting them some of these boxes, at no cost to themselves, if they were willing.

The individual must have seen me on the news or something, because the first question that they had was if I could really do magic. I shrugged and told them that what I did was considered magic where I was from, but here? I didn’t know. They asked if I could do anything, and I used Prestidigitation to clean the table that we were at, slowly but thoroughly. They seemed a bit impressed, before I asked them if they would be willing to try something themselves. They cautiously accepted, and I grabbed one of the bottles of water that were on the table, and used Prestidigitation to make it taste and look like coffee.

I offered it up to the person, and if they were worried, I could drink it before them. The person shrugged and said that I didn’t seem to be the kind to poison someone with which I had no history. They took the bottle and drank it, tasting it, before saying that it certainly did taste like coffee. I told her that it wasn’t coffee, I had only changed the color and taste. The volunteer said that this would be a very useful thing for people who want to diet.

I told them that it would be a useful thing if they could get me a general quantity of an average amount of people that they have to feed on a daily basis, and I can try to make something that would help mitigate the amount of food that needed to be donated on a daily basis. I told them to see if anyone was willing to try it, and if so, they could let me know, and I would try to get back here as soon as I could to start creating boxes to install here so that I can set them up with a bank of food. I told them that the only requirement that I have, is that they can’t tell anyone that I am the one who is providing the food, as I don’t want the donation to bring any kind of ill luck from being associated with a superhero. The person thought a bit and agreed, and told me that they would text me a number after they find out who is willing to eat the “rations”. I gave them my S.H.I.E.L.D. phone number and thanked them, before heading out to go to the hospital to do a shift with the EMT’s.

I got to the hospital, parked the bike, and found a different pair of EMT’s waiting to go out on call. I asked if they were willing to have me on a ride along, and they agreed to let me go with them, since I had gotten a reputation for being a very useful person to have on the calls. The calls went okay, and I had spent the time healing others magically and through my skills. The EMT’s were very thankful for the help that I had provided, and told me that I would very much be welcome back tomorrow, assuming that I was available for the holiday. I told them that I would make it a priority, assuming that no gangs or villains made me deal with them first.

The EMT’s laughed and shook my hand as I headed off to catch a cat-nap. I got to my bike and started heading back through the streets. Along the way, I spied a person lifting a wallet from another person, and I slowed down and stopped them. They started to proclaim their innocence, and a group of people gathered around the two of us. I grabbed the wallet that they had pocketed, and asked him if his name was the name on the license, a person who obviously wasn’t him. I asked the crowd if any of them knew the person who’s name I called out.

One of the people yelled out, “that’s me.”, and pushed their way through the crowd to reach the two of us. When they did, I showed the wallet with the license to them and the crowd. The would-be pickpocket tried to claim that I had planted it on them, but the crowd wasn’t buying it anymore. I asked the person who had lost the wallet to just continue on, that I’d handle this. The victim grumbled but walked off, and the crowd dispersed, not having nearly the same spectacle as before.

I took the kid a distance away and asked him why he was trying to steal. The kid was indignant that he didn’t do it and that I had set him up. I stopped him and told him quietly that I wasn’t turning him in, this time, but that I needed to know why he was trying to steal from that person. The kid told me that it was rough since everyone got dusted, and he was just trying to make his way. I reiterated to him that I wasn’t about to turn him in this time, but that if he was just trying to eat, there was a shelter or two around that could get him a meal at least.

The kid scoffed and asked if we were done. I told him that we were, but cautioned him that if I caught him doing it again or something worse, I wouldn’t likely stop. I cautioned him specifically about getting involved with any gangs or the drug trade. I let the kid go and made my way back to the storage unit without any difficulties, and took a nap on my cot with the bedroll for an hour. I sprung up afterwards and meditated for fifteen minutes to recharge my magical abilities. Thinking about it quickly, I decided to finish off the two firearm enhancements.

With the remainder of my magical energy, I cast a series Unseen Crafters to start the work on Boron Carbide Fabric to bind it into the Living Metal structure. This was going to take a long time to get done, but hopefully I will have it more together before the projected three month construction time passes. Sighing, I decided to get ready to head to sleep, Rex having long since done so. I think tomorrow is some kind of holiday, maybe I’ll check in with Jonathan after I check in with the EMT’s. I got everything cleaned and cleared before heading to bed.
