Ch 4 - Taste the Auction Part 2

"Die bastard, Blade performance castrating slash!" Fallace swung his sword, but Jester managed to save his jewels by leaning forward as much as he could.

Fallace blade drew blood as it instead slashed through the surface of the stomach instead.

"Encantation moonlight fracture! The blinding moonlight beam appeared and instantly pierced Fallace from several different directions at once. Under the course of the fight, John had casted silent moonlight mirrors that orbited around 200 meters around the battle. In Fallace's last moment of consciousness, he realized that he never stood a chance against this foe. His power was vastly superior to the ogre, and his skill was in a different league.

However, the moonlight combo intentionally avoided his vitals in case Fallace's life was of any importance to John. The fallen Fallace was bleeding out on the rooftop, and the terrified Soshi ran at him furious.

"How could you kill him!? Why! Why do the people around me die because of me!" Soshi cried out as she sat hopelessly beside Fallace.

Was this the girl Delues told him about? He was confidently analyzing the situation, and unless Fallace was a master curse user, there could be no way it was still active. Her reactions were genuine and not scripted.

"He is still alive... my moonlight fracture avoided his vital organs. Fallace... who is he to you, brave girl?" John muttered, trying to be professional.

"He'll live? Thank goodness! I swear he was innocent and...

  John interrupted Soshi's explanation.

"Young girl, by fighting that man and witnessing your genuine concern, I suspect that the mistake is mine and for my men to bear. Does he have close family, or is he a... slave."

"He is free... Fallace is an adventurer apart of an awesome party and a man who helped to save my life."

"Adventurer ey! I have never in my life seen an adventurer fight with such grit. I will take responsibility for taking him to his comrades ey."

John took Fallace's body and shocked Soshi on his shoulder.

"What are you... ah!" Soshi screamed as John jumped down the building and landed on the street.

Soshi could feel the impact, capable of killing a regular person. In front of them, Soshi could see Delues applying some low-level healing potion on the unconscious Roberto.

"Captain Jester, I see that the..." Delues was saying as he was interrupted by his leader.

"Silence, you pathetic whelps! You and Roberto have sincerely disappointed me, and here I thought Roberto had the potential to become a captain. Delues, the midg... Fallace was innocent, and this girl was right. There must have been a misunderstanding since she isn't currently under the influence of any magic."

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

"Captain, I apologize for our incompetence. I and Roberto will take any punishment." Delues apologized, stressed and bowing.

"Sigh... You and Roberto can forget about the Chastya shrooms! Now begone Delues, I don't want to see you until you and Roberto are ready for a true apology!"

"Yes, Sir!" Delues announced as he carried Roberto back to headquarters.

"Well then, do I leave you here, young lady?"

"If it's not too much to ask... could you take me with you to Fallace's friends and then leave me at home? So I can thank him in person when he gets better."

"Alright, young lady, now brace yourself ey!" John said as he jumped with all his might onto the roof and continued leaping from roof to roof with Soshi's guidance until he got to the inn.

Some hours before Jester's arrival at the inn, Audrey and Konstantin were going back to the cathedral. When they entered, they saw a class of clerics learning house grade healing magic and performing it on roughed up dogs and cats.

"Audrey, while I apologize to Pastor Contrario, please wait for me to return." Konstantin told Audrey before leaving her in the grand hall.

Audrey had visited churches in the past, but now, with what Clause Frudou had told her, she had quite conflicted thoughts about it. That girl, Soshi, said something clever. Why did the Savior allow suffering? Audrey was not really one to think deeply about such topics, but the holy atmosphere brought her to those thoughts.

However, the blessed magic that clerics use to bring miracles to life given to them by the Savior isn't that proof enough? But was the Savior really the one he claimed to be, the Creator. Audrey's inner discussion managed to reach no conclusions, being instead struck by a headache.

"Audrey... Audrey, are you listening!" Konstantin asked happily.

"Oh, sorry, Koney... No! I..." Audrey panicked in embarrassment as she accidentally used that nickname. The one she had imagined for Konstantin in one of her romantic dreams."

"Do not worry, Audrey, mispronouncing my name is no sin. Let us pray instead." Konstantin said, and they walked over to the seats as Audrey was relieved that Konstantin didn't mind.

On the stage, there were children acting out the story of how the gods, the Creator's servents, brought mortals to life in the living realms. It is told to us by the Savior that there is only one true god, the Creator and his mortal incarnation, the Savior. The other gods were created to rule over the concepts of creation.

In her childhood, Audrey desired to witness a God and then befriending or fighting them depending on if they were nice. She was really a crazy girl back then, Audrey reminisced as she zoned out during Konstantin's prayer.

"Oh, it's you, I saw you in the morning!" A pastor exclaimed, getting Konstantin and Audrey's attention.

"I see that you have robes and armor of a war priest. You must be an adventurer, right?"

The pastor then proceeded to explain that he thought that Konstantin may have been one of the many clerics and other magic users interested in getting his guidance on learning healing magic.

Today had been one of his lessons, and he asked if Konstantin and Audrey wanted to join.

It was free of charge, and the only requirement was to spread the good will of the Savior when healing others as this power was drawn from him.

Konstantin and Audrey were guided through a step by step process explaining how simple healing magic worked. Then, they were supposed to apply the knowledge by learning the most simple healing spell, Organic Restoration.

Different from more advanced healing spells that need intense and precise magical control. Organic Restoration, unlike the high level, healing magic above the ordinary that systematically regrows and sows the body back together. It instead blesses the body and increases its already existing self-healing ability by 10000 times for 5 minutes.

This spell was discovered only 2 decades ago by the current Almighty mage, the title of the most powerful magic user in the world. This spell and simpler ways of healing are still only spreading throughout the world.

Konstantin, who has struggled with precise magic control, was finally able to learn healing magic, which instead relied on sheer magic amount to amplify the body.

Audrey, however, was unable to grasp how to use the very basics of magic.

It was all about one's spirit, the pastor told her. She had felt spiritual energy flowing through her body when she fought Clause Frudou. Was that similar to magic, but even then, she couldn't use the power she felt at that time. It was out of reach...

She was disappointed with herself, but seeing Konstantin succeed in healing a hurt kitten made her feel really warm. He was like a kind and protective giant.

Konstantin congratulated Audrey on her efforts even though she didn't achieve anything today.

"Magic is just like any human endeavor. It requires repetition to learn." Konstantin told Audrey as they walked out the cathedral to the wagon.

They then rode back to the inn to check on Melian. When they were back, they saw Melian reading on one of the public sofas in the hall leading to the cafeteria. Melian was seemingly perfectly healthy.

Time passed, and the adventurers awaited Fallace's return. When it had turned night time, Audrey expressed her concern that something may have happened to Fallace.

On the other hand, Konstantin reasoned that Fallace had lived a large part of his life in this city. In addition, it could be that he was just late, having been invited by Soshi and then forgetting about the time.

As the clock approached midnight, a figure unknown to the adventurers opened the door
