Useless Skill!

"What do you mean by that?", Avion asked in a little serious tone.

Scarlett leaned back, her arms crossed, a confident smirk on her lips.

“Hey, do you remember the time when we first met? You told me something interesting about your past,” she said, tilting her head slightly, her tone teasing.

“You said that you had just escaped from Hell… and then you saw the fight between the first Hero and Sylvania. You were so amazed by their power that you felt the need to become stronger. So you trained for countless years and finally became the first Demon King. Isn’t that what you said?” She raised her eyebrow, clearly setting a trap.

Avion leaned forward a little, his expression calm. “Yes, that’s what I said. What about it?”

Scarlett’s smirk grew wider. Her purple blindfold shifted slightly as she looked directly at him.

“Well, I learned something different at the academy,” she said, her voice cool and sharp. “According to the history lessons, during the era of the first Hero—Viktor—there were already three demon kings. And Viktor killed the third one with his own hands.”

“So if you became the ‘first’ Demon King after Viktor died… then how can there already be three Demon Kings before you?” she asked slowly, letting her words sink in. “That means someone’s lying. Either you… or Miss Lilith.”

Her words hit like a hammer.

Avion sighed and leaned back in his seat, a small smile playing on his lips. “Took you long enough to figure it out. I was expecting that question the first time I told you the story,” he said, his tone filled with light disappointment.

Scarlett rolled her eyes. “Well, I had just escaped death at that time, I just accepted whatever bullshit you said", she replied, her voice a bit defensive.

Avion chuckled softly, then shook his head. “Fair enough. But let me clear things up. What you said is true… but neither of us is lying.”

  Scarlett looked confused again. “Huh?"

Avion leaned forward slightly, his voice calmer now. “Well I’m technically the first Demon King. Let me explain it properly.”

He took a breath and began in a simple tone, like a teacher explaining something to a student.

“You see, the title ‘Demon King’ isn’t like some royal bloodline thing. It’s not passed down. It’s a title—a recognition of power.”

  Scarlett blinked, listening closely.

“When a non-human becomes powerful enough to rule over a large number of demons and monsters, they’re given the title of ‘Demon King’. It’s like how humans crown someone King or Queen when they rule a kingdom.”

He glanced at Scarlett to make sure she was still following.

“For example, even an ancient dragon like Zephyrion is called a Demon King by many. Not because he declared himself one, but because countless tribes and lizardmen worship him. He has influence. Power. Control. Even though he don't have his territory here but there are still many places under him!",

Avion scratched the back of his head and gave a small sigh before speaking.

“So… actually, I wasn’t really the first Demon King,” he admitted with a calm, steady voice. “Back in Viktor’s time, there were already three Demon Kings before me. The first was a guy named Omar. The second was Zephyrion—yeah, the ancient dragon—and he’s still holding that title even now. The third one… was Lustrous.”

Scarlett’s eyes narrowed slightly as she listened carefully, her arms still crossed. Avion continued, his voice becoming more serious.

“Viktor had the power to defeat all three of them. But during his journey, he found something that changed the way he saw demons. He realized that most demons weren’t naturally evil or hostile like the ones found in the human kingdoms and Most of them didn’t even have much intelligence. They just followed instincts. And in demon realme, The Demon Kings were more like protectors and leaders… beings who united demons and monsters to defend themselves whenever humans, elves, beastkin, or dwarves attacked.”

His words were calm but carried a bit of weight, like he was trying to explain something deeply misunderstood.

“Except for the first and especially the third one… Lustrous,” Avion said with a bitter edge in his tone. His eyes turned cold just from saying the name. “He was different. He was truly evil. He didn’t care about protecting anyone. He took human women—and women from all kinds of species—and forced them into his harem. He did terrible, horrible things. Things that made even the other Demon Kings disgusted.”

“So Viktor killed him,” Avion said simply. “And Viktor was planning to take down the first Demon King too… the moment he stepped out of line.”

Avion then looked down, his voice softer now.

“But… before Viktor could do that, he was killed by Sylvania. And after that, I came to this world.”

He looked around as if remembering a time long gone, then continued.

“I stayed in the land that used to belong to the first Demon King. Thousands of years had passed, and things had changed. Eventually, me and the previous Demon King had a fight—a death battle. But I defeated him and killed him. And I took his title because I always like to be no.1.”

Avion then stretched his arms out slightly with a light shrug. “And that’s why people call me the first Demon King now and since I killed the first demon king not Humans, Thus Humans have no record of it and they think I was the first demon king from the start!"

He finished explaining and looked at Scarlett, waiting for her reaction.

But Scarlett just stared at him quietly, her expression blank and hard to read. Her purple blindfold didn’t hide the small twitch of her eyebrows.

“I don’t know if I believe you or not,” she said softly, her voice almost like a whisper. There was no anger, just quiet doubt.

Avion gave a small smile, his eyes half-closed.

“Well… that’s the truth,” he replied with a calm voice. “You’ll find out sooner or later.”

There was a heavy silence in the room for a few seconds. Scarlett looked serious, while Avion and Lilith both waited quietly. Then, Scarlett finally broke the silence.

“I still have a lot of questions,” she said in a frustrated voice, her arms crossed tightly over her chest. “But I know you won’t give a proper answer. Whether you know it or not, you always speak in riddles.”

“But I do have three important questions. So let’s start with the first one.” She paused for a second and then asked clearly, “Can you explain what Unique Skills and especially Ultimate Skills are really capable of?”

Avion narrowed his eyes and tilted his head slightly. “Didn’t I already explain that last time?” he said, rubbing his chin. “Unique Skills are created when someone has a very strong desire and meets the right conditions—like going through something really painful or working really hard. And as for Ultimate Skills… there’s no rule for how someone gets them. Only the rarest and most powerful people have them.”

“I’m not asking how they are made,” Scarlett interrupted. “I mean, how do I measure them? How do I know how strong mine are compared to others?”

She took a deep breath and then raised two fingers in a V-shape with a cheeky smile.

“Because… I have two Ultimate Skills.”

  “What?” Avion blinked in surprise.

“Wait, is that true?” Lilith, who usually stayed quiet, also looked genuinely shocked.

Scarlett smiled more to herself now. “So it is a big deal, huh?” she muttered, feeling proud of her rare power.

But then she coughed awkwardly, suddenly looking a little embarrassed. “Well… I mean, I have two. But only one of them actually works right now. The second one is locked.”

Avion added while raising one eyebrow. “Locked? That’s ridiculous. This isn’t some kind of video game where skills get locked like treasure chests. Are you sure you’re not just imagining things?” he asked with a half-joking, half-serious look on his face.

“I’m serious!” Scarlett said right away, frowning at him. Her tone made it clear she wasn’t joking at all.

Avion and Lilith both paused to think. After a few seconds, Avion rolled his eyes and gave a small shrug. “Maybe the second one is locked because you’re already using another one,” he said. “Like how you can’t use your both eyes at the same time.”

Then he leaned forward. “Alright, then. What’s your working Ultimate Skill?”

Scarlett raised a hand and wagged her finger. “Didn’t you say we should never reveal our Ultimate Skills? What if someone tries to steal it?”

Avion gave a tired sigh. “Come on… no one can steal an Ultimate Skill. That’s not how it works. Just tell me, or how can I help you?”

Scarlett thought for a moment, then finally gave in with a sigh of her own. She touched her forehead with one hand and let out a few dramatic chuckles like she was in a play.

“You better not get jealous,” she said, grinning. “Because this skill is super overpowered. Fufufu…”

Then with a quick motion and a proud look, she revealed the name of her skill.

“My Ultimate Skill is called Infinite Growth,” she said, raising her voice slightly with pride. “It gives me 5 to 10 stat points every second. And the stronger my opponent is, the more stat points I get. There’s no limit. I can grow stronger forever. I don’t need to break the Creator’s will. I don’t have any limiter. Hehehe…”

Avion and Lilith both stared at her in complete silence, their eyes wide with shock. They didn’t blink for a moment, as if trying to figure out if she was joking or not.

“A skill that increases your stats infinitely?” Avion finally asked, his voice low with disbelief.

  Scarlett proudly nodded. “Yup.”

  Then something unexpected happened.

  “Pffft… Hahahahahaha!!”

Avion suddenly burst out laughing. He laughed so hard that he bent forward and started banging his hand on the soft couch like he couldn’t breathe. His whole body shook with laughter.

Even Lilith, who usually kept a calm and emotionless face, turned away and let out a small chuckle.

Scarlett blinked, completely confused. She stood there frozen, mouth slightly open.

“W-What’s so funny!?” she asked, clearly upset and confused by their reaction.

Avion wiped imaginary tears from the corners of his eyes, still chuckling.

  “… What a useless skill!”
