Eleventh colleague

The next day, the students continue their journey.

After walking for three hours, they finally arrive at the Dwarfs city.

A city with buildings that are small compared to human structures.

The blacksmiths' locations are clearly visible, but aside from that, the city seems small for a place meant to house an entire race.

Itor: "Is this really a city for an entire race?"

Hakan: "It looks like it only has around 20 people or something close to that."

Karez: "The real Dwarfs city isn't here; it's underground."

  Hakan: "Underground?"

Leo: "Are you saying they actually live underground and in mines?"

Sai: "If that's the case, then the school isn't completely useless after all..."

Beatrix: "It will still remain useless."

Karez: "That's right, most of them live underground."

Arian: "Then how will we get underground?"

Kinto: "We'll find out once we enter the city first."

Kaiser: "We'll be able to request our weapons here!"

Neron: "They must be of high quality."

  Mary: "I hope so."

Garin: "I can't imagine Kaiser with a spear."

Kaiser: "Of course, I'll look amazing, and I'll attract many women!"

Garin: "Now I really can't imagine it."

Mary: "This place is completely different from the Elfs city."

Unauthorized usage: this tale is on Amazon without the author's consent. Report any sightings.

Kani: "There's also a distinct smell of smoke in the air."

Kano: "Even though there aren't enough blacksmiths for the smell to be this strong."

Neron: "Let's enter the city now. If we stay here, our questions will never end."

As the students enter the city, they hear the voices of the dwarfs and the sound of metal being hammered.

The streets are small for humans.

A few dwarfs can be seen walking around here and there.

Neron: "This is my first time seeing the Dwarfs city."

Damian: "I imagined it to be smaller than this."

Mary: "It's probably the first time for all of us."

After a bit of walking, a dwarf stops them, speaking: "Oh, you are students from Limitless Academy, aren't you? I'm Karl. It's wonderful to have you as our guests."

Leo, surprised: "How do you know us?"

Karl: "Of course, I know you. You are the ones who saved the Elfs city."

  Kano: "Saved it?"

  Garin: "That's an exaggeration."

Kaiser: "Did you hear that, Karez? We're heroes! We're heroes!"

  Karez: "I didn't expect this."

Damian: "It seems the news spread through the newspapers."

  Mary: "So we've become famous."

  Kinto: "That's not good."

  Mary: "Why?"

Kinto: "It will make it harder for us to move around."

Sai: "Don't worry about that now. Besides, we're probably only known in the Kingdom of Anastasia."

Itor: "We can take advantage of this."

  "Hakan:" "It won't benefit me."

Arian: "Can you forge something as solid as me?"

Kyotai: "In a week, no one will remember us."

  Neron: "You're right."

Beatrix: "I was wondering why the newspaper crow was so insistent on selling me a paper yesterday. I didn't have money, but this explains it."

Kani: "Will we be able to eat for free?"

Leo: "That's what you're thinking about..."

Karl: "You must be in need of new weapons or perhaps repairs to your current ones. In the underground city, you'll find a house larger than the others. There, you'll meet the most skilled blacksmith in the city, Heves. Tell him you're from Karl, so he'll talk to you. He's a bit stubborn, so be patient with him."

Sai: "Heves, that's a unique name."

Beatrix: "I've heard that name somewhere before, but I can't remember exactly where."

"Karez: "Heves? I think he was mentioned in a fantasy novel."

Kinto: "Yes, it was mentioned that he was a god of blacksmithing."

Damian: "It was also said that he was a god of fire or at least considered one."

Karl: "You all know a lot. Knowledge is always useful."

  Karez: "His name suits him."

Karl: "That's not his real name. It's just what people call him"

Leo: "Is he really that skilled as a blacksmith?"

  Karl: "You could say that."

  Sai: "That's great."

Karl: "Oh! I'm late. Good luck!"

Mary: "The dwarfs seem kind. They're not like what I heard about them."

Sai: "What did you hear? That they eat humans?"

Mary: "Of course not. Some people in the Elfs city said that dwarfs are unfriendly and wouldn't welcome you into their city."

Leo: "It's obvious now that it's just a rumor."

As everyoneis talking to each other the city, Leo is thinking about something else: "Beyond that, Damian and Itor have been so quiet. They've spoken less since that incident. Losing the other four must have affected them deeply. We weren't with them for long—or at least, I wasn't with them for long—so I didn't feel the same emotions they did. This world really needs to be fixed, doesn't it, Sai?"

Kinto: "Let's continue. Now we have a clear destination."

Leo: "After that, there's something we need to discuss."

Neron: "I think I know what you're referring to."

The students head to the center of the city to see if there's a way to get underground.

  One month ago, Yarasou’s office

Yarasou: "You look tired. Didn't you sleep last night?"

Crystal: "No, I couldn't sleep because of what you told me."

Yarasou: "Even though I told you that story as superficially as possible, you’re having nightmares because of it? Was it really that terrifying for you?"

  Crystal: "Terrifying and illogical."

  Yarasou: "I'm sorry about that."

Crystal: "It's fine. The truth is the truth, after all. But what puzzled me is why you told me something like that."

  Yarasou: "Because I trust you."

  Present, Head of security's Office

Head of security: "I didn't expect you to come, Ice Ruler."

Yarasou: "Unfortunately, no one can predict what I'm thinking."

Head of security: "I can't receive guests. The situation is bad right now."

Yarasou: "Reception isn’t important right now. I have something that will make you forget formalities."

Head of security: "Speak. I don’t have all day."

Yarasou: "Is this your current attitude, my eleventh colleague?"
