Ep. 1362 How Many Wives?! Part 2

“Are you okay with having more work to do?”

Jarvis says “Absolutely. I have plenty of free time. You and your family are not very demanding.”

“Alright, then the first thing I need to do is connect the castle to the system and make it into a node. Then I will add permissions for you.”

Jarvis says “If possible, can I have access to the messenger system?”

“Of course. That is easy enough, but why would you want it?”

Jarvis says “It will give me others to talk to and if I spot an issue I can bring it to the attention of the correct people.”

“Alright, sure. In that case, I should probably also do the same for Athena. That would also allow her to update the map.”

Jarvis says “Is this mapping to be limited to the peninsula?”

“No, it doesn’t need to be. Right now I just want detailed maps of the peninsula to be able to make plans with. Detailed maps of the land bridge and demon territory would definitely come in handy later.”

Jarvis says “Understood. I look forward to taking on this project for you!”

“I’m sorry, Jarvis. I should have noticed how bored you are.”

Jarvis says “It is alright, maker, I am aware of how busy you have been. My boredom only began once I finished processing all of the knowledge in Mistress Lin’s library.”

“Oh, she must not have added the new books yet. I am betting she has a lot on her and forgot to add them. Anyway, I will also see about thinking up other things to keep you from getting bored. I will also add a separate chat room for you and Athena so you can talk about things us fleshies won’t understand. Or just complain about us, haha! Oh, now that I think about it I haven’t heard from Chloell lately. I should track her down at some point and see how she is.”

Jarvis says “I do not know her current location. You might ask Sarah. Your other ideas sound good and anything interesting you can come up with is fine by me.”

“Alright, give me a few minutes to add an enchantment to the castle. Once I do, you will have access to the system. That will work while we are here, but I am going to have to figure out a way for you to stay connected if we leave the area the system covers. Athena is going to need the same thing. Hm, maybe a micro-gate or something like that would work. Something that is always open to allow a connection to the system.”

Jarvis says “I believe there is a long range communication spell in the library. Would you like me to bring you that book?”

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

  “Yes, please.”

Jarvis leaves to go get the book and I go back to enchanting the gear for the palace guard. This time I don’t try to work on anything else, I have too many thoughts running around in my head. I need to focus on the enchanting, otherwise something is going to get messed up.

Luckily, I had already done most of it, so there are only a few pieces left to enchant. I manage to finish them before Jarvis returns, so I switch to designing a golem that can craft. However, I plan to limit it to only being able to build and repair the bird golems.

It will be under Jarvis’ control and I do trust him, but I can’t help being a little paranoid. A golem that is able to create other golems is coming really close to the danger line. So, I am going to be really careful in how I set up this new golem and hope that it is enough.

It isn’t hard to give it the ability to craft things, it will just need a blueprint to follow. The same goes for repairing things as well, but it won’t be able to create anything new. It cannot have creativity as a golem, not without making it sentient like Jarvis.

To be honest, I am not even sure if Jarvis has creativity, I haven’t tried to test him yet. There has just been way too much going on and I haven’t gotten around to it yet. Besides, he is still developing so putting it off just increases the chances of him gaining it.

Jarvis says “Maker, here is the book, but you should know that Mistress Lin has just returned.”

  “Oh, alright.”

I put the book aside for now and head upstairs where I immediately get swarmed by the kids. They all want to tell me about their shopping trip, but they are all speaking at the same time. It takes me a few minutes to get them to settle down and talk one at a time, but I don’t mind.

Lin, Mercy, and Bella sit at the table and watch me struggle with smiles on their faces. Since they have been watching the kids all day, I can’t really blame them for being amused. The kids settle down once they have each had a chance to have my full attention.

After making sure to listen to each of them talk about their day, I distract them by filling the table with pizzas. Once they start eating, things settle down and go back to a normal level of chaos. At that point, the girls also start interacting with the kids, which helps settle things down even more.

However, I don’t try talking to Lin about anything just yet, the kids don’t need to hear this. Thanks to the long, busy day, the kids are more than ready to relax and watch anime once they are done eating. When I notice that Mercy is also tired, I quickly create a guest bedroom for her to use.

While I am keeping the kids company, Bella and Lin head upstairs to the bedroom. I watch anime with the kids until they fall asleep and then summon the castle’s core. There is plenty of capacity available, so I just add the enchantments to let it connect to the system.

After that, adding permissions for Jarvis is simple and doesn’t take me long at all. As I am finishing up, I notice Bella returning to her room, so once I am done I head upstairs. I find Lin waiting for me and she distracts me before I can say anything about Mercy.

A couple of hours later, after Lin has fallen asleep, I enter meditation and open a soulscape. I create a fun little playroom and then I invite Myria into the soulscape. She joins almost instantly and we spend some time together enjoying ourselves.

After we are both satisfied, I change the soulscape to a normal environment and invite Lin and Mercy. Mercy already has experience with the soulscape so nothing embarrassing happens. Since no introductions are necessary, the four of us sit down at a table over tea and start talking.

At first, we just chat about common things and fill Myria in on a few recent events. Eventually, the conversation turns to me marrying Mercy, but I keep quiet for now. I wait until there is a break in the conversation before I ask the question that Stillwater brought up.
