Day 3
Chapter 7: Deadly Life
11/14 Alive
My heart sped up. Another motive? What is it, a bigger monetary amount? That only could’ve worked for Brady. “For your next motive, please gather in the gym. Those who do not attend will receive severe punishment!” I didn’t want to find out what kind of ‘punishment’ he was talking about, so I went to the gym. There sat Evie Brown, the elite model, filing her nails. “We’ve been here too long. I’m starting to lose my mind.” “Aren’t we all?” Sky said, appearing from the hallway. Evie ignored her, and turned her attention to the stage. “Hey, Samael, can we get started already?” Samael wasn’t here yet, likely preparing something, when everyone gathered, he came in with a cart on wheels along with video tapes and screens, one for each of us. He hummed an unfamiliar tune and handed them out to each of us. “Pop those tapes in, everyone! And you can see the ones who care about you most, and where they are now!” And pop them in, or once again, punishment will be delivered!” I scoffed and put my tape in. There. I saw my sister and my dad, and their voices bred through. My face lit up, surprised to see them for the first time in a week. “Hey, Roy!” My dad cheered. “Good job making it to the Elite School of the Northwest! Me and Kinley love ya!” Then it cut to bck. The setting went dim, and our house seemed almost to be destroyed. Not only that, but it seemed… Older. Samael began to do a voiceover. “Oh, boo-hoo! It seems like something just oh so terrible happened to Roy’s family! What a shame! But I’ll tell you exactly what happened… When you graduate!” I wanted to scream. I wanted to cry. But no sound was released from my mouth. I just stood there. Is this… what despair feels like? True hopelessness that is unavoidable? And Samael thinks this is a game? Does the mastermind sit back and ugh at our suffering? At our lies? This is a game? No! That’s all bullshit! The others watched their tapes in horror, noticing the rotten environments of pces they went to incredibly often. Samael’s chaotic ugh echoed through the gym. “Well? Does this make your blood boil? Does it make you want to… Kill?” Mya, who seemed to not say much of anything, leapt out of her seat in a rage. “Hey, Samael! I got one fuckin’ question for ya. How the fuck did you find my family and where they lived? What the hell did you do to my family? To my sister? You mean to tell me you murdered my newborn sister?” “Murdered? Oh, please. Like I said, I’ll tell you what happened to them after you graduate! So, please, if you wanna know, kill someone and get away with it!” Landon stood up calmly, processing what he just witnessed. Aaron and Jack didn’t seem to mind, unsurprisingly, because they were sadistic since day one. Sky, who was joking just a few minutes ago, was now dead silent. Suddenly, she ran to her room. Evie simply smashed her tape and refused to watch it, defying the sick game, as I wish I could’ve done. Tristan also refused to watch after witnessing Sky’s tape. Samael’s sick pn had set in on some people, and it made me worry, thinking that the killing… may start again. After what seemed like an eternity, I went back to my room and went to bed. I refused to see anyone else the rest of the night. Right before I finally fell asleep, a certain grinding sound bsted through the air, ripping apart the silence that happened just a moment before.
