13 - Order

Peter was walking along the streets, Finding the other four commandants was simple. He just had to walk until he was at one of the four doors of the town and find the nearby barrack and the associated commandant.

While walking, Peter thought about what Cherry had said to him. Was order really that important in hell ? Peter did not understand how such a human concept based on cooperation and trust was going to apply in a chaotic environment with nothing but demons with power and creepy creatures. Of course, order was sometimes more a product of fear and constraint but here ? Peter was quite sure any demon with an at least decent understanding of their power would be able to survive outside of a town and try to find its way away to another settlement.

A noise disturbed him in his thoughts. Someone was getting hurt in a nearby alley. Peeking his head, Peter saw a male demon with arms covered with small blades and dripping blood above another one, a cat one based on his ears and hands with a face covered with cuts.

“What did I tell you, stupid cat ? ” The blade arm demon growled at the cat one, putting a hand on the hair of his victim and pulling him closer. “The next time you'd fail to bring me water, I’d drink your blood instead.”

Peter was a little shocked but was able to stay quite calm. That kind of situation was going to happen in town. That was why Edgar had created security teams in the first place. Creating a town with the worst of humanity was going to bring some incident. Since Peter was the new head of security, he did not have any other option but to act.

Tapping into his power, he ordered the ground to bring the cat demon closer to him. The ground obeyed creating a dirt wave that pushed the cat demon toward Peter breaking the hold of the blade demon.

“Sorry, no blood drinking without consent in this town.” Peter said loudly, extending an arm to catch the cat demon.

“Who dares to take my prey away from me ? ” The blade arm demon yelled, turning his angry face toward Peter. The face shifted to a more surprised and disturbed one as the demon seemed to realize who was in front of him. “Oh, would we look at that ? Our new council member is trying to enforce what authority he thinks he has in this place.”

Donero did tell Peter that not all demons were smart enough to avoid conflict with him but he could not have totally believed it. Peter really thought his multiple power demonstration would have calmed down the town. And even if he could understand a team up from all commandants to at least try something, he did not expect some random demon to stand up against him.

Putting the wounded cat demon against a wall, Peter sighted. Resorting to violence and power was as exhausting as it was necessary here.

“Tell me what’s going on.” Peter ordered the blade arm demon. “If I’m going to smash your face with a shit ton of rock, at least I want to know why.”

Peter started powering up. Not wanting to destroy the whole alley, he called to him three small spear projectiles, they were only one feet long instead of the usual six.

“Yeah, as if I would obey you. You don’t want me to drink that filthy cat, fine. I’ll drink you instead” The blade arm demon yelled before rushing toward Peter as the blades on his arms grew.

Peter sighted, not even surprised. Snapping his finger twice at his spears sending two of them at maximum speed aiming for the demon's shoulders. The spread fused through the air as Peter's opponent raised his arms to block the projectiles.

The first spear broke against the wall of blades on the demon arm but the impact was strong enough to destabilize him and the second one hit the demon on the right shoulder exploding in a volley of debris as blood started to spill from the wound. The bladed demon stopped instantly and put his left arm on the wound

“Argh ! What is that ? ” The blade arm demon cried, his hand trembling.

Peter raised a hand as two larger spears emerged from the ground. He watched the demon growled a little more before answering.

“That was me, Primordial Peter, stopping you from doing something stupid and destructive while trying not to kill you” Peter said with a calm but authoritarian tone. “Now, you have two choices. Option one, you walk away, heal yourself and stop harassing other demons in town. Option two…”

Peter finished its sentence by indicating his spears which started to rotate.

“Ugh, you're no fun at all and probably worst than Edgar” The blade arm demon groaned before walking slowly away, a hand still on his shoulder.

“I have to keep order in this town. Sadly for you, I can’t be fun.” Peter said trying to convince himself probably as much as the other demon.

“Yeah, yeah. Fuck off.” The demon yelled giving Peter the middle finger.

Peter shook his head and went back to the other demon, the cat one.

He, or more likely she, based on her body, was badly hurt and unconscious on the ground but she was still breathing.

“Well, I just have to hope they can fix demons at the barrack.” Peter said to himself.

Putting the demon on his back, he created a slider similar to the one he used with Sophie a couple of day prior and started riding it in town.

“Th.. thanks” Peter heard as he was gliding his way.
