Nova sped through the forest, his thoughts racing. ‘I need to find a city, or anything to give me direction. I’ll come back once I’ve figured things out.’
It wasn’t until an hour later that he spotted the forest’s perimeter.
As he stepped through the dense trees, the sight of civilization greeted him. Tall, imposing grey walls loomed ahead, at least 200 meters high. The material appeared stone, but there was an almost ethereal shimmer to it, as if it were something far beyond simple rock.
Before him, a long line of figures stood motionless, each awaiting their turn to pass through the gates. Some were accompanied by animals, their beasts burdened with large packs, while others were alone, or perhaps with one or two companions.
As he drew closer, about a kilometer away, he finally got a better look at the strange figures.
They were towering—between seven and nine meters in height, with the smallest standing around three meters tall, which Nova quickly realized was a baby. Their bodies were a weathered bronze color, their massive heads crowned with thick, unkempt dark brown hair, though some had streaks of grey, flowing in wild, tangled locks. Their molten gold eyes, as large as boulders, gave the unsettling sensation of seeing through everything.
‘So, they really are giants’ Nova mused, his gaze lingering as he examined them closely. ‘Those limbs must be as wide as tree trunks. They should be considered a tier above goblins, trolls, and orcs—but yet they still wear hides.’
Unfazed by the consequences, he made his way toward the end of the line, drawing the eyes of the giants in his wake.
Standing at 1.90 meters, Nova was dwarfed by the towering figures around him. He couldn't help but feel a faint twitch at the corners of his lips. From a distance, their heights hadn’t seemed so imposing, but now, standing among them, he felt every inch of his size—small, insignificant.
A male giant’s voice boomed, drawing attention. "Whose baby is this?" He scanned the crowd, looking for any sign of a worried parent.
“Quick, find their parents!” urged a female giant beside him.
Suddenly, the area erupted into chaos as the giants began running in every direction, desperately searching for anyone that might have lost a child. Nova, despite his own stature, was ignored. His height was so minimal compared to theirs that no one considered him capable of being anything other than an innocent child—too young to understand the situation.
A burst of amusement threatened to escape him, but Nova held it in, his lips curling into a subtle grin. Dozens of giants rushed about in a flurry, their frantic movements growing more absurd by the second as they searched for his parents.
‘Alright, that's enough’. His thoughts cut through the scene, as his patience began to wear thin.
Glancing to his side, he spotted an 8-meter-tall giant, its bulk blocking part of the sky. Without hesitation Nova thought ‘Status.’

‘Strong’ Nova thought as he approached the towering figure. Without missing a beat, he asked "Hey, where are we?"
A heavy silence settled over the area, every eye turning toward them. The giant in front of Nova stared down at him, disbelief etched into his massive features. "How do you know how to talk?"
Nova’s smile was casual, almost playful "Answer me, Krogar."
A collective gasp rippled through the crowd, their astonishment palpable.
From the side, a male giant’s voice cut through the tension, sharp as stone. "You aren’t from here."
Nova could hear the murmur of whispers spreading like wildfire, but he paid them no mind. His gaze remained locked on Krogar, unwavering.
Krogar, clearly rattled but trying to regain his composure, stiffened. His posture shifted, and he put up his guard, the threat of violence simmering in the air. "What’s your motive?"
Nova's tone was nonchalant, unfazed by the rising tension. "I just need you to give me some information."
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
The murmurs grew louder, and a ripple of unease spread among the giants as more turned to look toward the back of the line, where the commotion was brewing.
Noticing the heightened tension, Nova couldn’t help but sigh. ‘I’m just asking for information...Why are they so on edge?’
Krogar didn’t respond, his eyes never leaving Nova, watching his every movement with an intensity that seemed to pierce through him.
‘I gave you a chance’ Nova thought as he, spear in hand, surged toward Krogar in the blink of an eye. In one swift motion, he buried his fingers deep into Krogar’s left calf, then propelled himself backward, dragging the giant along with him into the forest.
It wasn’t until a split second later that the giants roared in unison, their voices shaking the air.
“STOP HIM”
Only then did the pain register in Krogar’s mind, and he groaned in agony.
Without a moment’s hesitation, Nova continued to drag him through the dense forest for half an hour, deeper into the wilderness. Finally, Nova released his grip. Blood poured freely from Krogar’s calf, the flow unrestrained now that the pressure of Nova’s fingers had ceased.
Nova couldn’t help but find the situation ironic as he looked at Kragor.
He was a mess—his body littered with bruises and blood streaming from various wounds, his calf the worst of it.
Due to his massive size, the giant’s head and body repeatedly slammed against the ground as he was dragged through the forest. Nova had treated him no better than one would treat trash.
With a deep sigh, Nova muttered, “I just wanted some answers, but you’ve made it so difficult.”
Krogar’s fury surged again. “YOU—!” His words broke off as he tried to push himself to his feet, only to collapse halfway, a sharp hiss of pain escaping his lips. Gritting his teeth, he glared at Nova and spat “What do you want?”
Nova rolled his eyes, exasperated. “As I’ve said already, I just want to ask a few questions.” His patience was no more—he’d repeated himself too many times now. Was this really that hard to understand?
Krogar sucked in a deep breath, trying to steady himself, the tension palpable. Finally, he spoke through clenched teeth, “Are you going to kill us?”
Nova raised an eyebrow, his frustration evident. ‘Does he even listen?’ he thought, barely holding onto his composure. The giant was stubborn, dumb, and it was rapidly draining Nova’s patience.
“I don’t care about killing you, so stop asking these pointless questions,” Nova snapped, his tone sharp. “Just tell me what’s going on with this portal.”
Kragor's eyes gleamed with a new understanding. What had once been a mere suspicion was now confirmed—Nova wasn’t from this world. He could feel the weight of the realization settle in, and with a sharp breath, he asked "What’s your mission?"
A fist slammed into Kragor’s stomach, driving deep and nearly bending him in half. The impact created a small crater beneath him, and the sickening crack of his bones echoed through the air.
Nova pulled his fist back, his voice cold and unwavering. “One more useless word, and it’ll be your last.”
Krogar groaned, blood spilling from his mouth as he gasped for breath. His chest heaved as he slowly recovered, then he spat out, “That city is called Galthar.”
Nova’s eyes narrowed. “Keep talking.”
Krogar’s gaze locked with his, the defiance in his eyes never wavering. “It’s the second-largest city in the Avalgor Kingdom” he began, breathing deeply to steady himself. “We’re in the southern region. The capital city, Skygrag, lies at the centre.”
He paused, his eyes hardening as he defiantly stared at Nova. The giant wasn’t about to make it easy—he wasn’t keen on aiding someone, an outsider, threatening his home.
Nova’s cold gaze bore into him. “I want information on the ruler, and the nobles—how many are there?”
The air thickened with tension as Krogar’s internal struggle played out in his eyes. He fought with himself, weighing his options, reluctant to speak further. After what felt like an eternity, he finally opened his mouth. But just before he could utter a word, a flicker of something flashed in his eyes that soon dimmed.

In an instant, Krogar’s head was severed from his body, falling to the ground with a dull thud.
“You took too long” Nova said with a smile of annoyance on his face.
He briefly reviewed the information Kragor had provided before his thoughts sharpened. ‘I need another giant for more answers’. His gaze shifted toward Galthar, and an idea formed.
Without wasting time, he pressed his foot into the earth, propelling himself forward with blinding speed.
In twenty minutes, Nova returned to the perimeter of the forest, unburdened by the giant’s corpse this time. As he surveyed the sprawling city of Galthar, he saw giants scurrying around like ants, their movements frantic and desperate.
‘They’re still searching for me. Stubborn fools’. Nova couldn’t help but chuckle. ‘I’ll wait until nightfall.’
But then, tilting his head to the sky, he muttered “Do they even have a night here?”
Shrugging off the thought, he moved deep enough into the forest where he could both train and hide from the giant’s harassment. Once he found a good spot his eyes narrowed as he began performing sweeps with his spear.

Time seemed to fade away as Nova became one with the world around him. His movements, fluid and precise, synchronized with the rhythm of nature itself. Each sweep of his spear grew faster, building momentum with each pass, the wind adding to the speed, as if it, too, were aiding him in his dance. The spear blurred in his hands, a streak of silver, and even Nova lost track of how many sweeps he was executing each second.
It wasn’t until the sky began to darken that he finally came to a stop. His breath was steady, his body feeling the pull of the world’s energy, but his eyes were drawn upward.
Two moons loomed in the sky, their size far greater than Earth’s, casting an ethereal light over the land below.
A thought crossed his mind. ‘I wonder how long I’ve been training... There's only one way to find out.’
‘Status.’

‘I may have overdone it a bit’. Nova glanced at the mastery level—16—on his Swear Sweep skill, a slight shake of his head accompanying the realization. Running the numbers in his mind, he estimated, ‘It must’ve been around 30 hours... but I don’t feel tired at all.’
With a small sigh, he murmured “It’s time.”
Stepping out of the forest’s edge, Nova began his approach toward Galthar. His pace was steady until he reached the halfway point of the road. Then, without warning, he leaped.
