Chapter 14: Level 7

A full month had passed since Christian's last major project, and though he absolutely hated training, he had remained consistent. Every morning, he cursed Genesis under his breath but still completed his sprints, weight training, endurance drills, and flexibility exercises.

To offset his frustration, he spent his free time with the orphans, maids, and even the elves, bonding with them while ensuring the sanitation and water projects remained functional. Despite his reluctance, his persistence paid off.

  His stats had improved significantly:

  Strength: F- → E+

  Speed: F- → E-

  Durability: F- → E

The morning of the grand unveiling, Christian groggily opened his eyes to see a golden system notification flashing.

[Congratulations! You have maintained consistency for one full month.]

  [Reward for Discipline:]

Temporary Physical Boost: All physical stats increased to D+ (Highlighted in red to indicate temporariness).

Effect Explanation: [This boost is temporary. However, continued consistency will extend its duration indefinitely.]

Christian sat up, rubbing his eyes. "So, what you're telling me is... I have to keep this up forever?"

  [Correct.]

He let out a long groan before flopping back onto the bed.

  "I don't want to. It's a lot of work."

  Genesis, clearly agitated, flickered angrily.

[Administrator, do you recall that stinky, disease-ridden place you once lived in?]

  Christian grimaced. "...Yes."

[I have worlds far, far, far worse than that.]

A shiver ran down his spine. Without hesitation, he scrambled out of bed and dropped into a full dogeza.

  "I'M SORRY!"

Just as Christian pushed himself up, the doors swung open with a commanding presence. Queen Seraphina Costa entered the room, her piercing gaze sweeping over the absurd scene before her—Christian on the floor, looking guilty, with Mina and Marianne barely containing their giggles in the background.

She raised an elegant eyebrow. "What exactly is going on here?"

Christian, thinking fast, straightened his posture and forced out the first excuse he could think of.

"I was...practicing my humility exercises. Very important for a future leader."

A beat of silence. Then, from the sidelines, Mina and Marianne exchanged looks before bursting into laughter.

"Oh, of course" Marianne teased, barely holding back a smirk.

  "His Majesty, the Humble One."

Mina nodded dramatically. "Perhaps we should now call him Lord Benevolence!"

Christian twitched, but before he could retaliate, Genesis flickered to life with the worst timing possible.

  [New Title Acquired: Lord Benevolence.]

  Christian's soul left his body.

  Genesis, I swear—

  Seraphina scoffed, shaking her head.

"Enough nonsense. Get yourself ready—we are heading to the main city to announce the completion of your project. And Christian?"

She gave him a pointed look.

"Try not to use that devilish grin of yours. Keep it diplomatic."

The main city square was packed. Thousands of people—commoners, nobles, merchants, and even wary government officials—gathered in curiosity. Standing at the center, atop an elevated stage, was Christian, flanked by Seraphina and her elite guards.

I stand before the massive crowd, my legs locking in place as thousands of eyes pierce through me. My throat dries instantly.

I hate this. I hate this so much.

  Genesis flickers.

[Administrator, focus. Explain the benefits of the sanitation system.]

  Right. Benefits. Words. Speak.

  I inhale sharply.

"We built this city's new sanitation system, reservoirs, and public bathhouse brick by brick, alongside the elves. We worked together, blending magic and engineering to create a cleaner, healthier way of life."

The crowd remains stiff, skeptical. My hands feel clammy.

[Break it down. How does each part help them?]

Unauthorized use: this story is on Amazon without permission from the author. Report any sightings.

I clear my throat and force myself to continue.

"The reservoir and dam provide a steady water supply—not just for drinking, but for agriculture and industry. No more relying on unpredictable rainfall or polluted sources."

A few murmurs ripple through the crowd.

  Encouraging. Keep going.

"For too long, sickness has spread due to poor waste disposal. That changes today. The new sewage system ensures that waste is properly handled, keeping our water safe and preventing disease." More whispers. I see some merchants and nobles nodding thoughtfully.

"And the public bathhouses? Open for all. Cleanliness is no longer a privilege of the wealthy."

That gets a reaction. Some nobles shift uncomfortably, but the commoners murmur in approval.

  Genesis flickers.

[Well done, Administrator. Proceed with confidence.]

I exhale slowly, gripping the podium.

  Maybe—just maybe—I survived this.

As the final words left his lips, the city square erupted. The commoners roared, chanting his name—"Christian! Christian!"—their voices blending into a deafening wave of approval. Merchants whispered amongst themselves, nobles exchanged glances, and even the more skeptical officials nodded with reluctant respect.

Christian's legs trembled. The adrenaline that had carried him through the speech was rapidly fading, replaced by the sheer terror of realizing just how many people had been watching him. He swallowed hard, gripping the podium like it was his last anchor to reality.

Seraphina, standing beside him, took a single glance at his barely contained panic and stepped forward gracefully.

"People of the city" she called, her voice commanding instant attention

"On behalf of Christian, I thank you for your support. Your future begins today."

The cheers grew louder. Christian exhaled in relief—until he felt something dangerously soft and warm dangerously close to his face.

Seraphina had turned toward him, standing just a little too near, her boobs at an unholy proximity to his head. His entire body went rigid.

  Oh no.

Two sides of his brain immediately began waging war.

The Devil Side: This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. You should commit this moment to memory. Savour it. Thank the heavens for this blessing.

The Good Side: DO NOT. MOVE. DO NOT THINK. LOOK AWAY, YOU FILTHY GREMLIN.

Christian twitched, forcing his gaze anywhere but forward.

Seraphina, entirely unaware of his internal struggle, smirked.

  "You did well, Christian."

"T-Thanks." His voice cracked. His soul was ascending and descending at the same time.

  Genesis flickered.

[Administrator, your core temperature is rising. Should I assume combat mode?]

  Christian internally screamed.

  Genesis, SHUT UP.

Christian's vision was suddenly flooded with notifications.

[Achievement Unlocked: Architect of Civilization – Your creations will last for generations.]

[New Heroic Title Acquired: 'Pioneer of Progress' – Recognized as a revolutionary mind who reshaped society.]

[Effects: Massive increase in Mana Control. Unlocks a new ability.]

Christian barely kept his face neutral.

  A new ability?

  His hands twitched with anticipation.

  Genesis, status.

Christian stared at his status screen, his eyes darting over the sheer number of titles he had accumulated.

Huh... I sure have a lot of titles now

  Genesis flickered in response.

[Administrator, titles are not just for recognition. They hold hidden value.]

  Christian raised an eyebrow.

  Hidden value?

[Indeed. If you were to acquire all Heroic Titles or reach a milestone of 100 total titles, you would receive special rewards.]

  Christian's curiosity piqued.

Special rewards? What kind of rewards are we talking about?

[Unknown. The system only confirms their existence. However, Heroic Titles and Title Milestones unlock unique abilities, modifications, and potentially even System Privileges.]

Christian exhaled, a grin creeping onto his face.

"So, all I have to do is keep stacking achievements, and I might get something ridiculous?"

[Correct. But given your current pace, you are well on your way to discovering the first milestone reward.]

Christian's grin widened as his mind wandered.

What kind of ridiculous rewards could I get?

His imagination ran wild—an endless supply of luxury, a lavish estate, a hot wife who adored him, a group of stunning maids at his beck and call, and even handsome butlers for balance because hey, why not?

A life where he never had to lift a finger, sipping fine wine while being fanned by an exotic beauty, while his butlers and maids handled everything.

  Genesis flickered.

[Administrator, you were chosen to be a hero]

  Christian hissed.

  Let me dream, damn it!

After the speech, as the crowd dispersed, Christian immediately pulled up his status screen.

The carriage rocked gently as Christian leaned against the cushioned seat, exhaling as the chaos of the event faded behind him. Seraphina sat beside him, reading over a document while Mina and Marianne quietly whispered among themselves across from them.

Christian sighed and mentally called up Genesis.

  Genesis, status.

  [Administrator, before that—look outside.]

Christian blinked and turned his head toward the window. The city streets they passed were different. Cleaner. The new sewage system was already in motion, evident by the lack of filth in the gutters. The reservoirs and dam had stabilized the city's water supply, with people filling up at public fountains without worry. The bathhouses had opened, and for the first time, even the lower class had access to proper hygiene.

  His creations were working.

A golden notification flashed before his eyes.

[Your inventions have successfully reshaped the city!]

[Christian Level Up! Lv. 5 → Lv. 7]

  [New Feature Unlocked: Detailed Status]

  [New Ability Unlocked: ??? (Locked)]

Christian's excitement surged until he saw the last notification.

Wait, what do you mean 'locked'?!

  Genesis flickered smugly.

[You'll find out when you reach Level 10.]

  Christian clenched his jaw.

Teasing me with power I can't use yet? Rude.

  Genesis ignored his complaint.

  [Now, pulling up Detailed Status.]

  Christian's fingers twitched.

  Genesis. What's the locked ability?

  [Classified.]

  He scowled.

Classified?! I'm the Administrator! Who classified it?!

Genesis flickered with what could only be smug amusement.

  [I did.]

Christian groaned, dragging a hand down his face as Seraphina glanced at him from the side.

"What are you grumbling about now?"

He crossed his arms, pouting. "My own head is bullying me."

Seraphina snorted but said nothing, turning back to her document. Christian, however, leaned back in his seat, staring at the passing streets with a smirk.

Even if Genesis was messing with him, there was no denying it—his work was changing the world.

And this was only the beginning.
