Book 5 Chapter Thirty-One; the Northern Moon Sect

The journey to the sect was remarkably interesting to Jazmel. Not only was it well hidden, but it was also difficult to reach. They crossed the fields; they passed through a valley which was covered in wards with barriers and talismans that could send an unwanted visitor out of the valley due to the wards and the different mental warding that would divert them and distract them from the true entrance.

Next up was a winding river which only a few boats could sail down, there were five and three trips were made for all of them to reach the end of the river. Abram explained to Jazmel that the boats were arrayed in wards to follow the river and return to the beginning. So literally once the last person stepped off, the boats veered back into the river and headed back up to return to the side of the river they had entered at.

Next they travelled through a subterranean jungle cavern, it was filled with trees and wildlife. It was like a jungle, no creatures or beasts were present throughout their entire journey and Abram explained how they used warding to block their routes off, so as long as they stuck to their routes. They were not likely to be troubled.

They travelled like this for almost half the day, but it was over sooner than later. Because as they left the subterranean jungle cavern, nothingness opened up before them, but Abram stepped forward and directing Mana from his core into the palm of his hand, he pulled a single talisman from a ring he was wearing. He then placed it in the air, it hung there and then the talisman dissolved. Forming a doorway into the middle of nowhere.

Abram led the way through, with Senju bringing up the rear. Jazmel stepped through, leading his party and the quiet but reliable presence of Baek also. When Baek entered, Jazmel took the time to look around and Katie whistled. A long whistle of wonder, which Jazmel found himself feeling, the sect after all was amazing.

It was a sect, just like Jazmel had always imagined growing up. It looked like a temple, a shrine and a monastery for martial artists all mixed up in one great creation. The arrayed buildings were large, huge temples with deep set pillars to hold roofs up as well as wooden plinths to split corridors and rooms apart. It felt tranquil and peaceful to Jazmel, even breathing here made him feel soothed.

“Welcome to the Northern Moon sect, this is home for us. I will be right with you but let me ensure the dead are buried and the wounded seen to.” Abram said and Jazmel nodded, standing oddly with his group, and watching to see what would happen.

That looked immensely interesting to Jazmel. He wondered if something like that was going to happen to his stronghold, it was in safe hands but to be sure he sent word to Mary about what he had just heard.

“That changes everything, we need to win this domain quest.” Abram said, Senju came running up and Abram and her spoke quickly going over the quests that had just shown up in their domains.

“Gather the elders, we need to speak with everyone now.” He said and she sprinted off, hurrying off to gather everyone.

“Stick with me, I will speak with you all. Let me just figure out the sect’s next steps.” He said and Jazmel nodded.

“Take your time, we are just here to move through the gate anyway.” Katie said, waving Abram off, nonchalantly he smiled at her and turned to the sound of Senju returning with four others.

Jazmel looked at her and she shrugged.

“What he is really handsome.” She said and Jazmel laughed quietly, did Katie have a crush? He didn’t know how to react, but he was going to tell Sadé as soon as he had a moment.

As the elders appeared before Abram. Him, Senju, and the others began to discuss their options, they obviously had received a list of quests, and they had to get them done as soon as possible.

They mulled over it and then Abram turned to Jazmel and beckoned him over, he walked over with Baek and Abram began.

“There are four quests, we have four elders not including me and Senju. I think the domain boss will be released as soon as the quests are complete and once that is, I will go and fight the domain boss to try and win the domain access.” He explained to Jazmel, it sounded sensible.

“But you don’t know if the confederacy will get the same quests, so you don’t know how to plan for it.” Jazmel finished his thoughts and Abram nodded.

“That also is a big thing, but also we have no idea if the difficulty of the domain quests, will be much higher.” Abram pointed out and Jazmel agreed with him, considering.

“You need to send your four elders at each quest. Then you and lady Senju must act as roving groups, supporting whoever will need you and we will support you.” Jazmel offered, he turned to look at Baek who inclined his head and nodded his head slowly to show he approved.

“That makes sense, we will do that then. Me and Senju will lay in wait and whoever needs our help, we will act as reinforcements, be that against the quest or the confederacy.” Abram explained and nodding he considered his next words.

“We head out at first light; I know everyone will want to rush towards the quests. But we are nothing without preparation and resting is part of preparing. So put your teams together, gather your best. Get your items and gear ready, we all head out at first light.” He instructed everyone, the elders left after bowing their heads out of respect, Senju stayed and when the others had gone some. They spoke.

“Pick ten of your best and get them gear ready, I need you to be able to move fast and act quickly.” He explained and she nodded, Jazmel could see the ideas of whoever she was thinking of rolling around in her mind.

She was about to leave but he grabbed her hand.

“Tell Hari, Kuro and Atana that they are with me.” He told her and she nodded, before departing about her duties.

Abram turned to them and with a smile, he welcomed them officially into his sect, his home.

“Now let us see about getting you guys fed.” He said, flashing a smile and winking at Katie who suddenly grew really shy.
