Book 5 Chapter Twenty-Five; the Final Fountain II

“Well that wasn’t too bad.” Katie huffed, in between draining a Mana potion.

“Speak for yourself, I am drained.” Tera Nema said, she drank a stamina potion and a Mana potion.

“We have another foe.” Bannerman was saying, he hadn't released his full moon mode. But he drained his own Mana potion, then drank another just to fill his tank.

Only Sadé and Jazmel seemed comfortable with their levels. Sadé had 1000 points per kitsune tail and at the moment she had six. So she was probably carrying the most Mana in the entire outpost. Jazmel himself, had a good amount of Mana points. But because most of his skills were incorporated into swordsmanship and his skills. The cost of Mana was reduced because he had to exert stamina to move and with his tyrant body.

  DING!

  THE SECOND FOUNTAIN GUARDIAN APPROACHES!

  BE READY!

  …

The system seemed to be warning them. Sharing that this next guardian would be more dangerous than the previous.

A man stepped out of the shadow, or he might have been a man. He was one of the biggest men Jazmel had ever seen, he looked similar to the lightning lord, but Jazmel’s eyes told him otherwise. His Mana was dark, pitch black, his entire core was the colour of the night and Jazmel felt a tremor of dread from the man.

He was pale as the moon, skin like alabaster. His head bald, his entire body was hairless in fact. He wore cowl of shadow; it looked like material. But Jazmel could see that it was made up of Mana from within this man’s core.

  DING!

YOU HAVE BEEN PULLED INTO THE DOMAIN OF THE SHADOW ADVENT!

TIER IV SHADOW ADVENT FOUNTAIN GUARDIAN HAS LAID HIS CLAIM!!

  …

  BEWARE!

  …

How long has it been since I have been pulled back towards the light.

The shadow advent spoke and Jazmel felt his heart tremble.

Did you mean to free the primordial? The one I have been charged to guard? Your lives will be recompense for rising me from slumber. The shadows beckon for us.

His words were hollow, his voice sounded like the whisper of death. But Jazmel steadied himself and forced the thread of dread from his heart.

  DING!

YOU HAVE STOOD AGAINST SHADOW FEAR!

  EXP ACCRUED!

  Inferno!

Tera Nema raised her wand, and a spiralling blast of fire shot forward towards the shadow advent. He raised the shadows beneath his feet and smote her flame.

“Great, he used the shadows.” Katie murmured, but Jazmel heard her.

  Thunderfire!

He raised shadows again, but rather than absorbing the skill, he shielded himself from that strike instead.

  Chained hydra!

  Howl!

He froze for a mere moment and peering at Bannerman he disappeared into the dark. Katie’s chains shooting through the air where he had been moments before. Jazmel traced his trajectory with his eyes and leapt in front of Bannerman, guarding them both with Yoru No Tsubasa. A hand made up of claws of darkness stabbed forward; aiming for Bannerman’s chest. Jazmel had been there instead and though he blocked the strike. It took him off his feet and sent him and Bannerman tumbling.

  Darkened anchor!

Stuck. Everyone had been stricken in their current spot, Somehow, the advent of shadow had transfixed everyone to their spot through their shadows.

  Night of the white moon!

Baek stepped in, creating that pale but brimming white orb of Mana. all the shadows hissed as they sizzled out of control. The shadow advent had lost his hold on all of them.

It would only be befitting that one such as yourself would step forward.

He beckoned Baek forward, but Baek merely held the last line of defence, which led back towards the staircase.

“Your fight is with them darkness.” Baek uttered.

  So be it.

  Twilight domain!

The entire room fell dark. Not as in dark as if they were out in the night, no this was a darkness as if the existence of light had been stolen. But for Jazmel it merely dulled his sight. He could still see the shadow advent, his pale form. Now darkened but outlined with a ghost grey.

  Great rumbling dragon!

No! How can you perceive me?! You are not worthy of that sight!

He cut through Jazmel’s dragon made of Mana and he shot through the shadows towards him. his blackened claws struck at Jazmel, and Yoru No Tsubasa simply parried and glanced each strike away.

  Grave iron?

  The shadow advent cried out.

“A sword made of grave and cold iron.” Jazmel responded as they fought.

You have some strength child, but it cannot vanquish me. I stand guard before the fountain and my might is immeasurable.

“You hide in the shadows and wield the dark, you are not strong. You just have the advantage.” Jazmel told him and he cried out in anguish, his words doing some damage.

How dare you! Dirty this place with your filth! The primordial are to slumber for an age!

  Flaming Evisceration!!

Blue and black flames escaped from his sword and three swathes glanced through the darkness. The shadow advent dodged, but the swathe managed to break the barrier. The domain cracked and the dim light of the cavern returned.

I tire of your boorish ways.

The shadow advent raised both his hands. Coils of shadows wrapped around each arm, Jazmel watched the core in his stomach begin to activate with the amassing of the shadows.

  Darkness dirge

Jazmel watched as the environment around them begins to dim as shadows coalesce, drawing in all light. A deep, resonant, and mournful melody starts to play, seemingly emanating from the very darkness itself. This dirge reverberates through the air, carrying a sense of profound sorrow and dread.

Jazmel could see his friends in turmoil, trying their best to push past the fear. But the song that Jazmel was suffering under, was damaging all the others too.

  DING!

BASTION OF THE TYRANT STANDS FIRM BEFORE THE DIRGE!

  …

The Shadow advent’s skill slowly became partially obscured by swirling dark mist or shadowy tendrils that spiral outward. The ground around them could crack or darken as if being consumed by the void. The shadows extended and rippled, taking on ghostly shapes or wraith-like figures that move in time with the song, it was as if the dirge was calling forth spirits from the darkened abyss.

As the skill reached its peak, Jazmel watched as if the darkness might surge outward in a wave. The dirge had an ethereal, echoing quality. Making it feel as though the sound is coming from all directions, adding to the disorienting and terrifying atmosphere.

Shadows formed into beings, into creations of beasts and revenants.

“Banish them!” Jazmel yelled over the dirge of the shadow advent. But his friends still suffered.

  Howl!

The roar ripped from Bannerman’s throat and Jazmel watched as his friends became energised. Almost fuelled by the sounds of the howl.

  Your skills are beneath me!

  The shadow advent howled.

“So what?” Katie said as she began to whirr her chains around herself.

  Chained hydra!

Nine different chain heads flared out and struck different shadow aberrations. The shadows burst and fell to the ground, to be no more.

  Wand warfare!!

Tera Nema was sending barrages across the cavern space and doing her best. She was aiming with power and not accuracy, she was trying to bring the numbers down of the shadows.

  Foxfire!

  Thunderfire!

  Lightning fall!!

Skills struck at the advent, and he wrapped himself in wars and shadows to hide. But Jazmel saw him, he could always see him.

  Sundering Raven

Jazmel sliced through the shadows and when the advent was revealed he was trying to gather his Mana to heal himself.

  Flaming Evisceration!

Jazmel cut through the shadows as they tried to engulf them both. He smote the shadow advent, searing his body with his scathing skill.
