First wish part 1

Kyle was furious. A little rat had left a stinking…rat! In his backpack a bloody rat one! He had even done his work for once and the rat had ruined it! If it was the last thing he would do he was going to get revenge on the little prick. He couldn’t even sleep. His mind ran in a loop replaying the moment of touching the still warm corpse and slipping in surprise crushing the carcass with his hand, the bloody ooze worming around his fingers. He was going to kill the little brat who put it in there.

But who would do it? Only an abject loser would dare try to pull a trick on the lacrosse captain. Especially with the championship two weeks away. It could be a teammate but Coach would be furious if he found out. Plus he could smell trouble an isle away. He punched the bed in a rage trying to figure out who it was.

The person who did it must be a total loser like a goth or some other moron. Like the weirdly dressed guy watching the practice for some reason. Eric was the only one who knew him. But he had ran when he called him. Why did he come if not to watch Eric? In fact he was standing near the entrance to the mens changing room. More importantly the entrance across from his locker! That little freak had done it!

He threw off his blankets still fully dressed and stormed out his house only grabbing his lacrosse racket. In his haze of rage he didn’t see the brick path change to sidewalk then to asphalt. And as he got nearer to Eric’s house. He didn't even notice the houses getting more rundown, faded and strewn with abandoned artifacts from a better economy. He only had his eye set on a house that's paint was the definition of peeling. Kyle walked up and banged and banged on the door. It imminently opened to a pissed Eric who snarled at Kyle. ”What the heck are you doing here?”

Eric was tall but thin like a reed had been blown up by a gust of wind and decided to give being human a whirl no matter how hard he worked to build muscle it never really showed all that much on his frame even when he wore shirts and gym pants that would have broken school dress code if worn by a girl. Or a guy that had any weight on him which was the main reason that kept Eric on the number three spot on the team still he was strong and fast enough to keep that spot.

Who immediately responded with, “Who came to practice?”

Eric shook his head clearing the sleep clinging to him, “Why are you asking about Luke?”

Klye said “The diphead named Luke left a stinking rat in my backpack.”

Eric quickly shook his head then said slowly, “Luke put a rat in your backpack?”

  “Yes”

He triumphantly crowed out, “Luke did? I knew there was something wrong with that guy!”

Poking Erick Kyle responded, “Yes? Why are you being weird.”

Letting out a fake laugh that would make a politician envious he responded “It’s just surprising! But why the heck are you over here so early? You could have woken up James -no uh Jim and he goes ballistic when he has a hangover.”

  Kyle questioned “Jim?”

  “Yes my moo-”

Kyle instantly shook his head, “Nevermind. Just tell me where the little jerk is so he and I can talk.”

Eric muttered under his breath “You will do more than talk.”

Kyle shook his head. I didn't hear what you said.

Eric's smile crept across his face. It was also something that would make politicians envious, “He has band last period just follow me after school. Now go back home and stop keeping me up. It’s the buttcrack of dawn.”

Eric swung the door shut on Kyle. Kyle stared at the door and raised his fist. Intent on smashing the door down to get more answers before he lowered it would be better to get his revenge at school and Eric being a stubborn idiot would probably not answer the door again. He turned and began to walk home just as the sky groaned like an old man shooting out a turd and began to rain. Now Kyle was the one to groan cursing Luke in his thoughts all the way home.

  How permanent are wishes?
