Chapter 25.

“It doesn’t make any sense that you keep running! Eleca!” Xavier howled before sending another vibrating blades of wind at them.

“Tsk. Make yourself useful,” Tristan spoke harshly to Lauri and Evelyn, while directing his giant centipede’s path. He sent blades of black blood at their pursuers, “Execution.”

“How!?” Lauri yelled in panic, her heart was beating rapidly. She wasn’t prepared for something this dangerous of the bad, “We don’t even know how to use our powers.”

“Wait, maybe this is our moment! Like in those shounen manga where they get stronger in a life or death situation!” Evelyn excitedly cheered. She couldn’t float up or the centipede would rush past her. A bullet almost came close to her and she avoided it by her portal, her eyes widened, “Or maybe not…”

“Give up! The Confederation will hunt you down!” Ryan yelled at them. His grotesque was obscure, a rifle formed on his hand from purple flesh and scales. He rode on the back of a beast summoned by Brookyln. Abigail also rode on a monster’s back but, Xavier kept up by foot like the inhumane being he is.

They all were firing ranged attacks. Abigail possessed a strange wand that she sent projectiles with, Brooklyn sent darts of toxins at them, Xavier had his vibrating winds, Martin didn’t have much ranged capabilities but somehow, Ryan was the most dangerous of them all. Bryant stayed quiet so he didn’t accidentally speak his thoughts, he would purposefully miss with his projectiles and ruin the others’ attacks for their sakes.

Ryan’s bullets managed to rot cells and interfere with stimulus slightly. But, this slight effect was enough to quickly kill over time. Stimulus is the energy of life after all.

Tristan clicked his tongue, his Extalis Pendra couldn’t take much more of the corrosion or slicing to its exoskeleton. Peaches, their powerhouse, was also out at the moment. And he was stuck with complete novices.

“Listen, we’re monsters, using our powers to fight come naturally,” Tristan decided if they were to keep up the chase long enough and survive, they would need to learn to use their powers. “You’ve been introduced to your abilities. Now, just use your abilities with the intention to harm.”

“Give a name along with the intent,” Tristan commanded them. He kept exchanging projectiles with the enemy as best as he could.

“Like how they do in anime? Why?” Evelyn asked, she thought that would be lame to do in real life.

“When you read the Records of Dystopia you’ll understand, it has something to do with the FAME System,” Tristan responded vaguely. It was the first the girls heard of the ‘Records of Dystopia’. “You need to attack.”

“It will come natural as breathing.”

They stood up valiant, in the cover of projectiles by the centipede. Feeling the course of their abilities through their bodies, they felt for a way to cause destruction. A course of action to make all fall.

“This is it… I feel it,” Evelyn said with a still atmosphere, as if she’s reached enlightenment. She clasped her hands and pulled it back, “Super Canon….”

“Death Laser!” She extended her hands forward with all her might but…. Nothing came out.

“What the hell was that!? Ha! Graveyard.” Xavier sent large vibrating needles from his body at them. He was no regular persons; he produced fifteen of them so easily. “I can’t wait to torture that pale face of yours!”

“Noooooo! Don’t tell me my only use is portals and floating!” Evelyn dropped to her knees and screamed in disbelief. She didn’t want to accept a fate like that, what will happen to her action-packed fights?

“Shelter.” Tristan stood over her and extended his infernal stimulus out as a shield. Protecting them from the incoming needles by deflecting them, Extalis Pendra took damage from it.

“That isn’t a part of your ability,” Evelyn is incredibly smart, she has observed that all of their abilities have a basis. Tristan’s ability dealt with his black blood.

“This is called a [Spell], you don’t seem battle oriented so I will teach you some later,” Tristan helped her up. Sending blades of black blood while keeping up the chase.

“I feel something…” Lauri spoke up. She had her eyes closed for some time now, feeling the course of power in her body.

“Act on it and give it a name,” Tristan said to her simply.

“Gnostic.” Snakes of different shades rose from the ground and coiled together, opening their mouth and charged stimulus. They released it as a powerful beam.

“Fuck! That shit is no joke! Fall back!” Martin said, as if he sensed it beforehand. His teammates were going to argue with him but, he yelled, “Trust me! Not even Kayne could handle that!”

They slowed down their pace and distance were made immediately. Just for the sake of avoiding that beam of stimulus.

“Lauri! That was amazing!” Evelyn cheered for her sister and embraced her tightly.

“It really was…” Lauri looked at her hand, the snakes she summoned withered away. She wondered what that endless feeling was.

“Dammit! You’re not going anywhere! Death Sentence!” Xavier spread his arms wide and clapped. The air vibrated so harshly that it split apart, causing a vacuum as it raged forward.

The wind shaken up by it was enough to push his teammates back a bit. Withstanding such wind pressure wouldn’t be easy for any monster. This attack was incredibly dangerous, tearing down buildings as it zoomed towards them. It’s attacks like these that made him worthy of Diane’s Excellency second strongest.

“Shit…” Bryant mumbled under his breath. He would reflect the attack but, that’s way more than his defense could handle.

“Nayotake Torii!” Evelyn opened a massive shoji like portal and it displaced the attack upwards. At cost of massive internal damage to her and overworking her brain. Since her portals and floating works by incredible equations in her mind.

Her nose began bleeding but, she looked at Lauri and Tristan with a grin, “Don’t think I am a burden, I am still useful!”

Extalis Pendra kept rushing forward as they began the chase again. Tristan wanted to focus on the centipede so they could move faster, “How many of those do you two still got in you?”

“A lot more!” Lauri and Evelyn said in unison, feeling a new sense of independency and power coming to them.

Tristan boosted Extalis Pendra’s speed since he could focus on the path, he spoke coldly, “Then keep them coming.”

“My queen, this cannot prolong any longer,” The blind dragon that covered Emilia spoke. Having its gray wings spread wide to shelter her from the many explosions. “Let the empress take over your vessel.”

“Blind Dragon, I said to quit that shit… I won’t make her take over my body,” Emilia responded sternly to the blind dragon. Holding onto its wings dearly and producing as much imps as possible to counter explosions. She wasn’t sure if they were dying in vain or actual fighting back, her protection came first.

“Over some mortal’s lives you are risking yours? I say we join these fools and help capture the four that got away,” Although the blind dragon spoke temptations into her mind, it can’t go against her actual commands. It was sacrificing its well-being to protect her.

“I won’t do that! Heart is my best friend!” Emilia raged, punching the dragon despite it not feeling. Emilia knew it was reckless for her to hold them off with no support but, she smiled, “This is the least I can do for her.”

“My queen, you are fighting three opponents. A single one of them would be a challenge for you but, you chose to fight three of them on that level?” The blind dragon persisted on convincing her. “Let the empress take over your vessel.”

“No, Blind Dragon…. Rashnoi….” Pitch black owls separated from her body and formed a bowl with inscriptions, from calcified flesh in their mouth. She used this floating bowl to pour her black winds and infernal stimulus into the Blind Dragon, “Sacrifice yourself for me.”

The blind dragon’s old face seemed to smile, “I understand, my queen.”

A huge explosion erupted, she was left unharmed by it! Raging up and dragging down buildings around them. The destructive tendency of infernal stimulus and her black winds complimented each other for disaster.

The power build-up and dust cleared, and to her displeasure, they survived. Jason’s Mourning Stars. They didn’t utter a word at her, the one who led them had a smile plastered on its face.

“Tsk! Naamah!” A black feather appeared in her throat and she screamed. Black winds blasted all around her and her ear-popping scream surged out. Forcing the Mourning Stars to make distance again.

Emilia extended the duration of her scream too long, causing her to spit up blood. Wiping her lip and glaring at the men, she couldn’t bark at them as she wanted to.

One of the Mourning Stars quickly rushed to her and kicked her in her face. She was tumbling but caught her balance.

“What are you waiting on you sick fucks-!?” Emilia coughed up hoarsely, her stubbornness was unbelievable. “Do you think I will go down without a fight?”

“You know, it’s really a shame,” The one leading the Mourning Stars, Pearl, spoke up. He slouched over Emilia who sat on the ground from exhaustion.

“What?” Emilia was confused by his response.

“Normally we just followed orders and do only that, we never get any chance to have fun. But, it’s when we are away on a mission that we can make a little detour,” Pearl began his explanation as to why he hasn’t killed her yet. “Just like Jason, I like to dabble in a little bit of fun.”

“I am going to shove my fist so far down your alimentary canal that it exits through your fucking asshole,” Emilia said harshly to him. She couldn’t muster up any strength yet spitfire as always.

“I am just noticing since you were hiding behind that creature but,” Pearl grabbed her face and peered into her eyes. She felt disgusted as he continued to speak, “You are prettier than average. I bet you break a lot of hearts.”

“You disgusting bastard, how low will the Cult of Jason stoop,” Emilia grunted as she fiercely stared back into his eyes.

“Oh, you’re misunderstanding,” Pearl felt offended, releasing her chin and stepping back slightly. “I have no interests in romance or copulation. I was made in a lab after all.”

“But,” Pearl faced the other two Mourning Stars. “I am not sure if my brothers are.”

The tall one fully dressed in dark clothing turned his head away, having a sharp glare on his face.

The freakishly large one, fat and seeming to be born with a lot malformations stepped up while clapping his hands. Grinning and showing his crude teeth, “Big brother! Big Brother! She pretty! Make Hiro play with her!”

“Awww, Hiroshima, you wanna play with the pretty girl,” The odd large man came to Pearl and got pats from him. It was strange sight, Hiroshima looked like he could break Pearl with a handshake.

“Yes! Big Brother! She pretty! Hiro play with her!” Hiroshima begged.

“What the fuck,” Emilia’s eyes widened, a man like this was being used as a soldier. Jason was sinister!

“Go right ahead, Hiroshima,” Pearl gave his little brother a thumbs-up and sent him along.

Hiroshima grabbed her aggressively and lifted her up by the collar. Emilia was suffocating a bit. Hiroshima turned to his brothers and grinned, “Big Brother! Big Brother! She smell like fruits!”

“Atta boy Hiroshima, go get her, tiger,” Pearl supported his little brother, watching carefully of what happens. Nagasaki looked away, seemingly disapproving of what they were doing

“Let me go, you defective piece of shit, Jason made you artificially and he couldn’t even make you perfect,” Emilia coughed up and spat in his face.

Her words made them mad, obvious by their rage expressed through their pheromones. Those were words they didn’t want to hear.

“You make Hiro mad!” Hiroshima slowly started to tighten his grip around her neck.

As she suffocated, her pale skin gained color. A mark appeared on her iris and her mind flashed to a vision. A vision of Kayne carrying her princess-style while standing before the Mourning Stars.

“As if I am some damsel in distress,” Emilia held onto Hiro’s fingers and fought it as long as she could. She wouldn’t last any longer.

She smiled as her body was beginning to give out, “I wonder if…. he shared that vision with m
