Chapter 19.

Descending into his empty mansion, he went through the glass doors and went straight to his pillow fort bed.

His phone kept buzzing with messages from Count Earl. The Vice-Representative was infuriated that Kayne left the monster heads bleeding out on his table. Kayne simply just told him that he was just exhausted. Turning off his phone.

He bent the corner into his large kitchen and had an unexpected guest.

A lady he knew well, Detective Barrier. Who was Gisseupe’s fiancé, he saw her drinking a wine that his adoptive parents kept in storage.

“You heard too…” Kayne almost broke down crying at the thought. Worse, it could be someone with no remorse who told her. Gisseupe had no family in Minohwa. He wondered if he could bear to tell her.

“Where were you…?” She sniffled, taking another large gulp and showing eyes messed up from washed out mascara.

“Count Earl sent me on a mission because…” Kayne’s heart race, once again his heart was rushing. He couldn’t bear to face reality. Despite what happened that day.

“Don’t even say it,” Detective Barrier cut him off before he says the words that burnt her the most. “You should stop being so kind, you can deny those missions since you aren’t an official Detective.”

“I was trained to do it so… It’s better that it’s me,” Kayne’s tears began to drip. Gisseupe was the only person who didn’t make his hellish training something with friendly interaction.

“Don’t cry right now… Please… You remind me too much of him, if I were to see you cry, I’ll break down,” She got up and held him dearly. Truly, in her heart, she couldn’t stay with him. Kayne needed a rock too and she couldn’t be with him. That boy was like an adoptive son to them, and she reminded him too much of Gisseupe.

“Carla…” Kayne muttered. He didn’t get an embrace about the actual thing that was bothering. Since known of them who were at the Red Panda District knew. He needed this. While she was distracted, he took the wine from her and toss it away. She should have known better than drinking in her conditions, the pain clouded her judgment.

“Gisseupe said to give you this when he died… I thought he was an asshole for thinking that… looks like I’m wrong,” Carla chuckled a bit at the memory. Taking a letter out of her jacket and handing it to him. “Don’t tell me what it says. Unless he’s saying he loves and misses me.”

She abruptly left, rushing through the glass entrance.

“Carla!” Kayne called out to her. She’s gone.

He sobbed. Needing to feel Gisseupe’s words one last time, he opened the letter.

The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.

Hey fool. If you’re getting this, I am dead. I know that’s a surprise because I am really strong but, there’s always a stronger monster.

Kid, you’re emotional, I know it. Fact is, if I were in your shoes I’d probably be screaming while killing who I have to. Don’t let the end of my story ruin yours.

It’s really hard to write about being dead while still alive. Should I be happy? Should I be sad? Should I be pissed off? I really don’t know.

Just know that I love you, Kayne. You are the only thing in this world I have as a son. And Carla, she is getting her own letter.

So, I need to tell you how important you are to this story. I wasn’t able to because I don’t want you having any rash actions.

  Minohwa wasn’t always Minohwa.

At the beginning of the [Grand Approach], when [stimulus] was being reintroduced to this world, Jason Mauter took control of federal and government agencies. Assuming control of this region which was known as the United States of America. Now calling it the Confederation

He didn’t let it thrive newly as a nation of free monsters. Rather, he put persons in these walled settlements and brainwashed them. They would work, provide services and resources to those at the higher end of the ladder. Which was him and those who were strong enough to serve him.

Yet there are many resistances that existed in US, one being the Native Americans. And the family that ruled the Native Americans, had a capital known as Menominee and the ruling tribe having the same name. And they were led by the Zorian Family.

Jason Mauter had taken a strange obsession with the Zorian Family. After a series of unfortunate events, they seized Menominee and moved the headquarters from Washington, DC, to these lands.

Menominee was extremely fertile, and it was not a walled inhabitance, as monsters naturally avoided places where strong people gathered. Which the Natives did well.

After a long slave like rule over the Natives by Jason Mauter, something happened. I don’t know what it was, it wasn’t documented. Rowtag Zorian, the head of the Zorian Family, abandoned the Natives and took control of the Confederation. Jason’s incredible power was somehow sealed, and he was ostracized.

The Natives’ Elders resisted and so, the US was split in half. One half ruled by the Natives, calling the land Choolu. The other by the Confederation with little resistance group appearing in it.

Rowtag continued Jason’s selfish style of rule and renamed Menominee as Minohwa. Moving the Headquarters to Minneapolis.

Detectives never work for good. They work for the higher up’s pleasure. What you are being trained to be isn’t a savior, as you truly never kill for good. You kill because they fear and you’re capable.

You’re far too important to this story.

Just make sure that this evil Confederation never pins you down… Like they did me.

Don't feel any regret. Don't wallow too long in sorrow. As you live your lifetime, remember I will always love you as a father and a friend.

Kayne’s eyes dripped on the paper. All his life, he was taught that he was doing justice. What he did was for the people and for the sake of the Confederation. It was drilled in his brain but, he was slowly starting to see it for himself.

And now one of the most important persons in his life was telling him as his final words that it was wrong. All wrong. He was so confused.

He knew for a long time that name of the Confederation’s Director is Rowtag Zorian and realizing that name is not common. It’s far from it, it’s unique. Able’s last name was Zorian, they had to be related somehow.

In all of his confusion, one question stayed stagnant in his mind,

“Should I really be a Detective?”
