Chapter 29.

“I feel like an asshole using these people to blend in,” Luluwa said, clutching her bag straps as she maneuvered through the crowd. It was very early, she left the mansion as soon as she could to escape her despicable father. “I don’t want a repeat of that monster.”

She muttered to herself, recalling the decades she spent in that fracture of time and space. Learning her mistake that in the slums, it’s easy to ambush her. The streets are far less populated since the Confederation warns citizen to stay as far from the walls as possible.

They were unaware of the reason. The truth is that monsters that manage to make it over the walls will attack the slums first.

Luluwa walked through the Commercial District on the way to school. A lot of people roam the area, on the ways to their brainwashed lives. The Confederation would dare to attack her in such a public area.

“Oh yeah, it’s all coming together,” Luluwa smirked, she couldn’t sense a monster no-where near her. At that rate, she believed she could reach to school safely.

Her mind pondered off to what was happening recently. She had to lay low after killing Detective Clawer, by her father’s commands. Strangely, he didn’t ask her to do anymore. Luluwa hid herself away in the mansion and he didn’t summon her.

“Why am I worried about that? Fuck it, we ball,” She shrugged it off and started walking briskly. The crowd might have been safe but, the school will be safer.

As she walked further down the street, Luluwa realized the crowd was getting thinner. So thin until no one else was around her.

“Holy shit, I am no idiot….” Luluwa mumbled to herself lowly, so no one would hear her. She froze and looked around cautiously, “What the fuck should I do? Should I run? What if they have me surrounded already? Dammit it isn’t my fault, Gisseupe attacked me I had to defend myself.”

“Fuck…” Luluwa reached for her phone and realized she had no one to call.

She finally noticed the scent. The scent of monsters.

Projectiles started soaring towards her rapidly. The strength of the attacks were too much so she couldn’t deflect or withstand them. Gracefully transforming into her grotesque and evading the attacks, she stared at the perpetrators.

“6 grown adults on one little girl?” Luluwa mocked them, hands on the ground to stop her momentum as she nervously stared up at her. She didn’t have the Potentia Historie on her, it would be difficult for her to handle. Even if Giseuppe Curry was the best the settlement had to offer, she knew she couldn’t underestimate them.

“You fucking bitch! I will kill you!” The leading detective barked at them, she stood on a barrier in the air and had hateful expressed. A hostility so powerful that Luluwa felt nauseous, “You act so casual after killing Gisseupe!?”

“I didn’t want to kill him! He attacked me, should I have just died instead?” Luluwa argued, she acted in self-defense. She’s isn’t a cold hearted killer, she isn’t a monster.

“You would do the world a favor by removing another one of Jason’s offspring,” The Detective said harshly towards her.

“I will finish the job myself.”

Jason quickly moved to continue his plans. It was nearing the climax of this war’s history, Jason needed the upper-hand. That’s if he dared to go against the Confederation or the Roundtable.

“What are we doing here?” Pearl voiced out, asking Jason. Jason noticed that Pearl was being more vocal lately but, he had no problems with it.

Jason loved to chat. As long as Pearl knew his place, Jason would not go berserk.

“This here is where Minohwa gets all its water,” Jason said vaguely.

They were marching down the sewers, in the section where clean water is pumped. It was dark and grimy, moss covered the walls. No small life could be seen in the sewers, reasons for it Jason found hilarious.

He was being escorted by his followers. Yvette and Oliver were there, following closely from the back, they were the only ones Jason didn’t make in a lab. Pearl, Nagasaki and now Douglas were guarding Jason closely.

Douglas was one of Jason’s creations that he recently released, due to the death of Hiroshima. She fitted well into the group, a bold and stoic woman.

“That thing is,” Pearl muttered as they stopped in their traces.

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

A gigantic blob of a monster was before them, its limbs outrageously small compared to its large body. Its head reminded one of a giant Asian salamander, with a bright blue body. It constantly released fresh water from its mouth and pores.

“Bingo, the thing is what gives us fresh water. My bad for polluting the natural resources,” Jason sneered, clapping his hands and then Oliver gave him a very special device. “But, this thing is always guarded by the best detectives Minohwa has to offer.”

“That’s why I made sure to send them all away,” Jason was sure that by now that Luluwa was being ambushed by them.

“This thing is vital, they can’t allow their brainwashed citizens to consume strange water and become mosnters,” Jason scaled the monster and it squirmed since it wasn’t used to touch. He plunged the strange device into the monster and it screamed in agony, its skin turning pink. Suddenly sirens went off in the sewers, flashing red lights. “Listen carefully! The Confederation is about to send literally anyone to stop us, hold them off until the device is fully fused into this piece of shit!”

Jason carved into the monster’s skin and caused it greater pain, since he knew it couldn’t defend itself. Jason could recall the poor child they used to create it, “I am sure they can’t create another one of you.”

Jerome couldn’t stand his thoughts. He kept wondering why Lucia, his beloved wife, would allow Jason to get what he wants so easily. And jeopardize everything that the Rosario Family has built.

He couldn’t stay in their family house and see them. Lucia would laugh happily with her brothers, Skylar and Amethyst, but as soon as he came around her expression worsened. Yet, he was blinded by love and ignored the thought.

Jerome chose to distract himself and came out on the fields, to watch the work go down and help where he can.

He keeps seeing vans from the Cult of Jason come in and out of their territory, heading to the old Confederation Headquarters turned into a cathedral. His rage built up and then he could take it no more,

“That’s it. You know what? I am the head of this family,” Jerome took out an extendable baton from his coat and griped it. “I can pass my own judgment!”

He suddenly sprinted off, with his capabilities of a monster his speed was outrageous. Yet, he couldn’t out run a speeding vehicle. He had to make a sharp turn in order to catch up to it.

The van wasn’t guarded, Jason must have assumed no one would attack it.

“Supply!” He charged electricity into the baton and then pointed it to the sky. The energy quickly went to the clouds and casted down as lightning, hitting the vehicle to its side. He was sure many saw this disturbance but he didn’t care.

There were strange humanoids operating the van, of course they died on impact of his attack. He took note of them and bust open the van’s doors.

“What in heaven’s name…” Jerome muttered in disbelief. Viewing the contents of the van.

There were assortments of generation, of definite powers and volumes. Corpses of varying ages, from babies to elderly. Not to mention the monster corpses included and stranger equipment.

“They are transporting this! On Rosario’s Territory!” If his baton wasn’t reinforced, he would have snapped it. “And Lucia allowed this? Knowing what the Confederation would do!?”

Jerome identified another van speeding towards the Cult of Jason’s new cathedral. He gathered electricity in his baton, “Suppl-!”

He was attacked, narrowly avoiding sharp claws to his neck. He looked to the cathedral and saw that smoke emitting from it, meaning his attackers were just released.

Four individuals of unique looks. One having light blue hair, one having long metal like fingernails, another having shields fused to its limbs and the other spewing fire from himself.

“Who are you people!? Do you work for Jason?” Jerome took guard as the surrounded him perfectly. He looked towards his family’s house and saw his wife and her siblings. Skylar and Amethyst were bounding towards him to help while, Lucia looked with a frown.

Jerome knew Amethyst could kill them all by himself and probably would immediately. He wanted to question his attackers at least.

“That’s right, we are the Prophet’s creations! I thank you for waking us up from that lab!” The light blue haired one spoke for all of them, he had quite the charisma. He grinned with Jerome, “I hope this fight isn’t boring for you, we’re just born so we aren’t used to our powers.”

Jerome heard that key detail, they are amateur monsters. He could surprise them quickly with a quick move. Amethyst wasn’t moving using his sword so he and Skylar would take some time to reach.

Jerome moved to incapacitate them. He attracted discarded technology and formed them into a large machine around him quick, before they could react. He turned on the new machine and was about to hit them with a strong move,

“Rising Savior!” Suddenly, dusts of gold appeared at Jerome’s feet. He recognized this ability, being from his beloved wife’s. Sparkles of potent energy rose from the gold and destroyed his machine, while at the same pushing the attacker’s away.

“Dammit! We can’t handle that one, let’s go!” The blue-haired one looked at Amethyst as he got closer and declared. The ones with shield augmented to him grabbed the vans with his great strength and they escaped to the cathedral.

“Why….” Jerome muttered lowly as he stared at his wife in the distance. She avoided eye contact with him, looking at her feet.

  Amethyst and Skylar finally arrived.

Amethyst’s fingertips tore open and he plunged them into the earth. Spikes of blood and earth, having incredible pressure, launched forward as they attempted to escape, “Danube!”

With the help of the clawed girl, they managed to escape the speed of the spikes. But that wasn’t it, Skylar with his strange feet bounded high into the sky.

“Don’t char up too much!” With his clawed gauntlets, he scrapped them together and produced glowing orbs in his palms. He blew them out like dandelions and upon touching the ground, the exploded magnificently!

Yet, the attackers managed to escape.

“Are you alright, old man?” Amethyst marched up to Jerome and asked. Jerome was still lost in thought.

“The blue-haired one was kinda cute,” Skylar said in a seductive tone, biting his fingertip.

“Shut up queer, do not flirt with the enemy,“ Amethyst spat out at his brother.

“You had to include the queer part!?” Skylar almost grabbed his little brother into a chokehold.

Jerome spoke more loudly, with the most sincere look aimed at his beloved wife.

  “Why would you save them?”
