  Chapter 2

Bai Min nodded slightly and heard the sound of footsteps coming from outside. The door was pushed open, and several people walked in one after another.

It was Spring Peach again, carrying a cool breeze as she stood in front of the bed and said loudly, "Miss, Master and Mistress have arrived."

Bai Min furrowed his brow, inexplicably appearing in this place, inexplicably becoming Murong Feng. Chun Tao raised an eyebrow, her apricot eyes hiding a hint of disdain, and her heart involuntarily surged with a few points of disgust. She blurted out: "I can see it, no need for you to shout so loudly, stand far away, I just woke up and couldn't bear the cool air you brought."

As soon as this was said, Chun Tao was startled, and Chun Liu and the few people who had just entered were also stunned. When did the usually weak and taciturn Third Miss become so fierce?! Chun Tao walked to one side with a huff, sneaking a peek at Bai Min on the bed. Had her temper grown along with her recovery from illness? It really didn't seem like the usual Third Miss, whose words were cold and made people feel a few jitters in their hearts.

"Maple," said Mrs. Murong, looking at her daughter in a soft voice, "Chun Tao said you woke up, Mother is really happy, how do you feel? Do you want to ask Dr. Cao to come and take another look?"

Bai Min looked at the woman in front of him, who was less than forty years old, and still had a hint of charm in her eyes. "I'm awake, but I don't remember anything from before." Bai Min said calmly.

Doctor Cao, who was hastily invited, looked at the girl lying on the bed, and after a diagnosis, shook his head. After some deliberation, he slowly said: "Miss's body has no major problems, as for not remembering things from before, it must be due to the aftermath of a serious illness. It should get better with more rest."

Mrs. Murong frowned slightly and walked out of the room with Cao Taishi, saying in a worried tone: "But there are only three days left before her marriage to the Fourth Prince, it's hard to defy the imperial edict, what can be done?"

"The Crown Princess was also worried about this matter, so she ordered me to come and treat the Third Miss a few days ago. When I found out that the Third Miss was fine, the Crown Princess was overjoyed. The fact that the Third Miss refused to marry must not be known by the Empress Dowager, the Queen, and the Fourth Prince, otherwise it would be a crime of deceiving the monarch, punishable by death for nine generations. If the Third Miss still can't remember anything before the wedding, then we'll have to trouble you and your wife to tell her about it in detail, maybe it's a good thing, at least she won't oppose the marriage with the Fourth Prince so strongly." Doctor Cao paused, then continued, "From what I see of the Third Miss now, she just needs to rest for two or three more days to recover from her weakness, and that's all. I need to hurry back now, the Crown Princess is waiting for me to report back to her."

Mrs. Murong returned to her room after seeing off Imperial Physician Cao.

Bai Min had already lain down again and closed her eyes to rest. Whatever it was, whether a dream or something else, she would take things one step at a time.

"Mrs. Murong looked at her daughter lying on the bed with closed eyes and steady breathing, paused for a moment, took a few steps back, and said to Chunliu standing beside her in a low but stern tone: "Chunliu, you must take good care of Miss these two days, don't leave her side for a single step. If anything goes wrong again, I won't forgive you! If Miss asks about anything, you must tell her everything in detail, just absolutely not mentioning anything related to the Fourth Prince, especially those rumors. In less than three days, she will marry the Fourth Prince, and we can't afford any more mistakes, otherwise, the entire Murong Wangfu will be ruined. Let's go back to our room, sir."

From start to finish, Mr. Mu didn't utter a word, only frowning and staring at his daughter lying on the bed. When he heard his wife telling him to leave, he finally spoke: "Listen carefully, Murong Feng! Since you were born into the Murong family, you can't do as you please. You must marry this person, whether you want to or not. In three days, you must appear at the Fourth Prince's residence! Otherwise, everyone in this household will follow you to the grave!" After finishing speaking, he turned and left.

"It's just a marriage, isn't it?" Bai Min slowly opened her eyes and quietly looked at the middle-aged man who was annoyed. She spoke slowly and calmly without any emotion, "I'll get married, that's all. Just please don't disturb me again before I leave the house, except for Chun Liu. Otherwise, if something unexpected happens and I accidentally bring trouble to the hundreds of people in the mansion, it would be a sin. Now, Chun Liu, please send Master and Madam away, I just woke up and it's really inconvenient for me to chat with anyone."

"Ah!" Murong was almost choked to death by his own breath, and he turned his head to stare at Bai Min.

Bai Min closed her eyes and fell into a peaceful sleep-like state, no longer speaking.

Mrs. Murong gently tugged on her husband's sleeve and whispered, "Let her be for now, after all, she is our own flesh and blood. Although she may not be as likable as the others, I truly can't bear to send her to that fiery place. You know how the Fourth Prince is..." She sighed softly and stopped speaking, instead pulling her husband away. As they left, she glanced back at their daughter lying in bed, wondering to herself: Has this illness really changed our previously timid third daughter into a different person?!

Apart from Chun Liu, everyone else quietly left, leaving behind only the autumn rain outside the window, its sound seeming both real and illusory.

Bai Min only had less than three days to get used to her current identity before she had to get married. She really didn't understand what was going on, and how a 21st-century person like herself ended up in this strange place.

This is a dynasty that doesn't exist in her historical knowledge at all, the Daxing Dynasty. If time can be converted, this is almost an era thousands of years away from the world she lives in.

Her loss of memory was "recognized" by the imperial physician in the palace, and she had a full three days to recover her memories. Wasn't Imperial Physician Cao saying that she would be fine after resting for a few days? So she could use this as an excuse to ask Chun Liu about everything regarding Murong Feng.

She is actually a woman with almost no story.

Murong Feng, 16 years old, is the age when women in this dynasty get married. Fortunately, this dynasty has not yet become muddled to the point where girls are married off at 13 or 14 years old. At 16, even in the 21st century, it's still considered an early romance and is somewhat acceptable.

She is the third young lady of the Murong royal mansion, raised by her husband's mother, also known as Murong Feng's grandmother since childhood. After her grandmother passed away, she was brought back to the royal mansion but due to her weak personality and being taciturn, she never gained much favor from her parents. Chun Liu is a maid who has been with her since childhood, while Chun Tao is a maid assigned by Lady Murong after she returned to the mansion.

As for her father, Murong Lao Ye, he is the current prime minister and also the mentor of the crown prince. He has a close relationship with the crown prince, like a father and son, and married his beloved daughter Murong Xuan to the crown prince as his concubine. The second young lady, Murong Yu, was married to Wu Meng, a great general in the imperial court who held military power. Both of her older brothers have also taken wives: the eldest son, Murong Hua, married the current emperor's niece, and the second son, Murong Mei, recently married the youngest daughter of the richest man in the empire. As for the youngest, Murong Xue, she has already become famous throughout the land for her stunning beauty, and with her illustrious family background, young men from good families have been flocking to propose marriage, almost trampling down the gates of the Wang estate.
