Episode 56: Epilogue

The harbor was alive with activity. Vienna looked over it a wistful feeling rushing through her, she looked to her side to see her father well and standing tall beside her already looking upon her with a reassuring gaze. On her other side was Zephyr Soren.

Vienna looked to the port where Ravven stood waving, beside him a somber dignitary, the great Elem king Ralph stood.

“Do you think I’m making the right decision, Pop?”

  She had rejected a king.

She had rejected the safe choice, all for a journey of uncertainty.

“Life is about the journey, little flower. We cannot let the what ifs stop us from experiencing it.”

Vienna saw her father join her leaning upon the railing.

“You both will live long, perhaps one day you’ll be ready to take the step toward him. For now, you have an adventure to embark on.”

Vienna smiled up at her father, “This time you are with me.”

“I’ve always been with you, Vienna. Just a whisper away.”

  Their journey would be long.

They would be set upon pirates and storms until they at last reached the Forgotten Isles.

At first, all was silent, as if nothing remained of a once vibrant people but then whispers from the sea came.

Beneath the rolling waves, aided by the sea folk they found the sunken lands now forming a new society alongside the Sea Folk.

Safe amongst the kelp and sea life.

Safe within the melody of the sea.

300 years later on the other side of the Continent in a grand mansion where music and livery spun tales through a star-filled night….

Two figures danced at the center of a lit hall. Twirling through the couples was a male seemingly made of Starlight and a dark-haired Mynd?lfêt lady in green. An odd pair with their gazes locked and secret little smiles at the tips of their lips.

The being of Starlight looked into the gaze that always reminded him of a deep dark forest.

  “Will you answer me now?”

The lady shook her head, “You’ve never answered the most important question.”

Silver strands fell over a shoulder as the Elem tilted his head down waiting for his lady to speak.

  “Do you love me, Ralph?”

The lady curtseyed at the end of the dance before pulling him down a darkened hall into a portrait gallery.

A lady in red showcased at the end.

“I met the owner of this manor long ago, in the Mynd?lfêt-Sea Folk lands. He was just a young lad then. He would stare out the thick windows that looked out to the sea with such a look of wonder in his gaze. He’d close his eyes and look as if he was listening for something. I asked him once what he heard, ‘the melody of the sea’ ‘the melody of home’.” The lady in green sighed and looked at the portrait above where they stood, “When he met the lady in red, I asked him again. ‘Does she have a melody?’ His gaze grew awestruck and he said, ‘The sweetest of all melodies.’ A melody of the heart.” She turned toward the tall figure beside her, “Your Majesty, do I have a melody in your heart?”
