  Chapter 4

  I opened my eyes in shock. Why? Because I actually slept last night, even though I knew how dangerous it was.

  I quickly stood up, scanning my surroundings. Fear and confusion washed over me—fear because I had let my guard down in an unknown place, not knowing what dangers lurked around me, and confusion because I knew I couldn't control my sleep.

  Back in my past life, I sometimes went three days without sleeping.

  "So why did I sleep today? There must be a reason," I muttered, thinking over and over again. It wasn’t like I was exhausted, so why?

  Calming myself down, I clenched my fists. "It's not normal for me to fall asleep so easily."

  Stepping out of my treehouse, I was greeted by the rising sun. Its rays hit my face as I stood in front of my shelter. I scanned my surroundings again, looking for anything unusual.

  "I guess I'm the only human in this forest," I thought, remembering that when I first arrived here, I hadn't seen a single human or animal.

  It was time to test if I was really alone.

  "Is anyone there…?" I called out hesitantly.

  My voice echoed through the forest, not too far, but enough. Well, my voice wasn’t SSS-rank strong.

  No reply.

  "That means I’m alone, I guess."

  "Ah… what am I doing?" I sighed.

  This wasn’t the best way to check. Of course, I wasn’t alone. I needed to explore my surroundings properly and, most importantly, find food and water.

  Also, I hadn't fully checked my SSS-rank system yet. There were still two unopened windows. Time to check them now.

  I took a deep breath and said, "Inventory."

  A system window appeared in front of me.

  "What? I have water in my inventory?" I said, surprised.

  I never expected to get free water—and SSS-rank water at that.

  I was starting to understand why everything in my system was SSS-rank. Maybe it was because this land was so barren that farming was impossible. But with my SSS-rank magical farming, I could cultivate even this wasteland.

  That was the most logical explanation.

  Or maybe… it was simply because this was my wish—to become a magical farmer.

  Since the water was SSS-rank, it had to be safe to drink. I had a good idea of how to take it out of the screen. After all, I already knew how to access my SSS-rank farming system.

  I raised my hand, palm open, and summoned the water from my inventory.

  Instantly, water started flowing out from my palm,like water from a pipe. To my surprise, I could even control its speed and flow.

  Slowing it down, I brought my hand to my mouth and took a sip.

  "Hmm… it's fresh."

  The moment the water touched my lips, I could tell how pure and refreshing it was.

  After drinking, I washed my face with the same water, feeling refreshed.

  It was time to check my storage slots.

  According to my inventory, I had 10 storage slots, and they were all SSS-rank. I already knew how to use them—I just had to grab or touch an item, and it would automatically be stored in one of the slots.

  However, I wasn’t sure what SSS-rank storage really meant.

  How much could it actually store?

  I would test that later.

  Now that I had a house and water, the only thing missing was food.

  Right now, I needed food. If I didn’t eat soon, even my SSS-rank strength would be useless.

  Deciding to search for food, I bent my knees slightly and then jumped, using just enough of my SSS-rank strength.

  While in the air—before gravity could pull me back down—I quickly scanned my surroundings.

  Nothing. No animals. No movement. Just barren land.

  But of course, I didn’t have SSS-rank vision, so I wouldn’t be able to see creatures until I got closer to them.

  After landing back in the same spot, I started walking straight ahead, trying to find any living creature I could hunt.

  But suddenly, I stopped.

  "What am I doing?" I thought.

  I had forgotten to check my last system window—the Shop.

  Realizing how important it was, I immediately called it.

  "Shop."

  A new system window appeared in front of me.

  "Oh… it’s been years since I last tasted these fruits and vegetables," I murmured, staring at the screen.

  But why were some items locked?

  "Hmm…"

  Maybe I had to unlock them through progress.

  I knew how to use the system, but I didn’t know what conditions were needed to unlock the rest.

  At least, the good thing was that all the available fruits and vegetables were SSS-rank.

  That meant they would grow easily and be healthy.

  "It would be great if they fully grew within a week."

  Since I was a magical farmer, that was part of my wish. But I wasn’t sure how long it would actually take.

  For now, I had 4 fruits and 4 vegetables available.

  Since I needed more ingredients for cooking with vegetables, I decided to focus on fruits first.

  Choosing Apple, a shovel suddenly appeared in my hand.

  It wasn’t an ordinary shovel—half of its blade tip was red, the same color as an apple.

  I knew what to do.

  Without wasting time, I pushed the tip of the shovel into the ground and pulled it back.

  Immediately, my eyes caught something—a glowing red mark appeared on the soil where I had dug.

  It matched the red on the shovel, signaling where I had planted the apple tree.

  The red glow was dim.

  Now, I just had to wait and see how long it would take for the tree to fully grow and bear apples.

  Having checked every system window, it was finally time to hunt for food.

  But before leaving, I summoned some SSS-rank water and poured it over the soil where I had planted the apple tree.

  Then, without wasting any more time, I started walking straight ahead, searching for anything I could eat or hunt…
