Chase and Selena trekked through a forest path, the sound of birdsong and rustling leaves their only company. The air was fresh, and sunlight filtered through the canopy, painting the ground in shifting patterns of light and shadow.
As they walked, Selena’s ears twitched catching a faint sound. She froze, crouching low, her eyes locked onto something in the brush ahead.
Selena (Whispering): Chase… stay quiet. There’s something ahead.
Chase: What is it this time?
Selena: A rabbit. A big one. Could be good for lunch.
Chase: Hmm… It’s probably just a regular rabbit with that level of disturbance in the bush. Just leave it-
Before he could stop her, Selena pounced. There was a startled yelp from the bushes, followed by a loud splash. Chase rushed forward to find Selena standing knee-deep in a small stream, soaked and holding… a fish. The rabbit was long gone.

Selena: Well, food is food!
Chase: At least you caught something.
As Selena climbed out of the stream, dripping wet and holding her prize triumphantly.
Chase: (Chuckle) The water’s good, I presume?
Selena: Is that so? Can you hold this fish for me for a while?
Chase took Selena’s fish and after he does, she starts giving herself a quick, full-body shake sending droplets flying in every direction.
Chase: Ah! Wait! Selena! You…!
Selena: The water is good, Chase. You should try it, too. Hahaha!
Chase wiped his face with his sleeve, groaning as he flicked away the stray droplets clinging to his hair.
Chase: You did that on purpose.
Selena flicked her tail, utterly pleased with herself.
Selena: Did I?
She stretched lazily, stepping out of the last puddle with practiced grace. Meanwhile, Chase just shook his head, sighing in defeat.
Selena chuckled, walking ahead with a noticeable bounce in her step. She enjoyed her small victory over him.
Chase gave a small smile after. No matter how much of a handful she was, there was never a dull moment with Selena around.
