Demon: Stygian Jester

  Description:

Stygian Jesters, the evolved stage of the Stygian Clowns, a sub-species of the infamous Stygian Tricksters.

To make a difference between the Stygian Tricksters and the Stygian Clowns, the latter is best described as a Succubus-slash-Stygian Trickster hybrid. There also exist other sub-species Stygians that take after the traits of other demons again, such as the Incubus or the Evil Eye-using Gazers.

Back to the Stygian Jesters, they are an evolved, humanoid demon species with a knack for acrobatics and demonic curses. Due to their nature of loving to torment people, not many cities would accept them among their ranks...except for a few underground organizations.

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

On a more positive note, good-natured Stygian Jesters are absolute masters of the circus. The cheerful nature of a circus would drive the more bloodthirsty Jesters away, making it almost sure that the Jesters operating in a circus are "relatively" safe to be around. In fact, there are many cases of Stygian Jesters helping lost children who were to be sold to or escape with the circus away from a life on the run, helping them to find good homes or return them safely back to where they really belong.

  Appearance:

Stygian Jesters are humanoid demons with skin colors of either white or black and hair with the opposite coloration, but never the same. They are pretty tall, slightly higher than your average elf, and they possess slim limbs that are perfect to perform tricks with.

While it's not an ironclad rule, Stygian Jesters tend to dress like monochrome clowns, donning a jester's hat and a mask made from black and white materials to give off the illusion of belonging to a board of chess. Some people like to refer to them as the "Chess Jesters".

  Abilities:

  Danger rank: D+

  Rarity rank: C

Stygian Jesters, like other "Stygian-type" demons, do not prefer to fight battles with raw might. Instead, they wish to circle around and stab their victim in the back, relying on acrobatics and other tricks to do the job. As demons, they have a natural affinity for spells and mana, but they like to use indirect spells with status debuffs and ailments rather than attack-type spells or defensive ones.

Another thing to take note of is that the Stygian Jester has adopted some of the "strategies" from their distant relatives, the Succubi. They are masters in the art of honey traps and social engineering, something they can make use of even during combat. This gap makes it difficult for people without a mind of steel to ever hope to survive an encounter with even a single Jester.

One point of interest is that the Stygian Jesters have a great dislike for sudden, strong lights. A skill, spell, or even an item similar to a flashbang would be worth double its weight in gold if you ever have an encounter with a hostile Stygian Jester.

Garami's comment: Okay, I have so many similarities with these clowns that it's scary!

Bloom's comment: The scary thing is the clowns themselves. And the thought of Ms. Mira's safety if you had decided to follow this evolution path. *Brr*...
