The Great Glitter War

I wake up again. This time, Anne is getting a bag together for me, and she’s thrown in all my books. She notices me wake up. “Good morning, Miss. Did you have a good rest?” I rub my eyes. “Yeah…” I mumble sleepily. Anne hands me an outfit. “OOH, Anne! This looks like @D0’s W!$H Tour outfit. @D0’s W!$H Tour. AAAAGH COME ON MOUTH, SAY @D0 RIGHT!!!!!!” “Miss, I think those words are copyrighted. You can’t use them in your story.” Anne, smart as ever!!! You use those brains on romance, but you are a true genius! “Thanks, Anne,” I say. “Anytime, Miss,” she says quietly while fighting sleep.

I pull the new dress on over my underclothes, grab a sketchbook and the bag, and run out the door for my first day of school. “Seeya, Anne!!!” I yell back down the hallway. Angelita runs out of her hallway, apparently doing the same thing I am. “WE’RE LATE, YUKI!” She yells. We run to school, chatting as we go.

The prince runs out of the boy’s hallway and pushes me to the side. “Did I get you?” he asks. I grin and speed up. “Dude, I saw you coming. No way!” I yell. Angelita grabs my hand, and the three of us run into the school.

“Prince Keith. Lady Yuki. Lady Angelita. Would you care to explain why the three of you ran into school twenty minutes late?” The three of us have ended up in the principal’s office. I really want to laugh when I see him because he looks like a walrus and a giraffe mixed with a human. Angelita flicks her wings and speaks up. “You see, sir, we kiiinda accidentally broke one of my glass swans. So Yuki and Prince Keith, being somewhat responsible for the mess, helped clean it up.” Angelita winks at us. The principal nods but speaks again. “This is behaviour unfit for royalty and the lords and ladies of this country. As much as I appreciate your responsibility, this would not have happened if you weren’t horsing around in the first place. All three of you will go to detention.” I sigh.

“It’s not that bad,” Angelita whispers. “Okay,” Keith says to the principal. “What will we be doing?” The principal sighs. “The three of you will mop the hallways that you tracked mud all over. Do you understand?” I look him in the eye. “I did most of the muddy-ing, sir. So I’ll clear most of the halls.” He nods. “Well, off you go. Come on now, shoo!” Angelita grabs a mop and thrusts it into my arms and Keith grabs a bucket of water. I yell, “Race ya!” to Ang and Keith and we run down to the entrance.

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

And so, we arrived and mopped. Keith pulled a Magical Item out of his pocket, and suddenly the floor was spotless. “Hey, why couldn’t you have done that from the start???” I whine. He shrugs. Angelita smacks my face with a sopping-wet sponge, and I whipped around and splashed the contents of the bucket on her face. “Hey!” She yelps as the cold water streams down her back. “Okay, that’s it! We’re going back to the dorms, and I volunteer Yuki’s dorm as the party room!” I smile. “Fine!” I grab Angelita and Keith’s hands, and off we run.

When we arrive at my dorm, Angelita grabs, like, 27 towels and begins drying off. Keith flops onto the floor and proceeds to announce that he is taking a nap. So much for partying.

I decide to take over. “KEITH, GET YOUR ASS UP! ANGELITA STOP SWIMMING IN THE TOWELS! LETS PARTY!!!!!!!!!!” I grab a Magical Item off the floor and use it. Suddenly, the room is decorated with glitter. Keith is appalled. “Why. Just WHY?!?!?!” he yells. “Glitter is the best colour,” I say smugly. “But it’ll get all–” I cut him off. “All over your ‘manly’ clothes? Puh-lease, it’ll be fine. You’re a prince. You have lots of clothes.” Angelita nods. Keith sighs. “In that case, let’s party.” Angelita and I grin.

“HELL YEAH!” We cheer in unison. Then we all start throwing glitter at each other.

A couple of hours later, Keith is on my bed, Angelita is on the floor, and I’m flopped on Keith’s stomach. The Great Glitter War will go down in history. “I’m gonna pass out…” Angelita says. Keith speaks up next. “Yuki, get off, I can’t breathe.” I snap back. “I would but my muscles are totally shredded… Angelita, can I have some help?” Angelita pushes me off his stomach, but now my face is practically buried in his shoulder. I huff. Keith and I both mumble something about the new arrangement being 10x worse, and a few minutes later, the three of us are asleep.
