TBE Chapter 29
At the village park, Ezekiel was thinking of what food he could order from his system shopping site to celebrate earning a whopping 10 gold coins from the spice merchant. He went to the section where fast food was located and saw one of his favorite sandwiches which was a foot-long roast beef sandwich so he decided to purchase it.
He then purchased a liter of cold water. He planned to use the Prestidigitation spell to make it taste like fruit juice.
When he brought out the already cut-up roast beef sandwich, Robert and Luke were looking at the sandwiches with wide eyes.
“What is that!” Robert asked the familiar question.
Ezekiel knew that he would hear that question from Robert a lot since he would be bringing out unfamiliar food a lot.
“It’s a roast beef sandwich. It’s meat and vegetables stuffed inside bread.”
There were six sandwiches on the table since the foot-long roast beef sandwich was cut up into six pieces.
He then retrieved the water and cast Prestidigitation on it to taste like fruit juice poured them into the plastic glasses that he purchased before and hand put them on the park table.
While the three siblings were eating their sandwiches, three boys arrived in the park. It was actually the three youths who stopped and tried to bully them before. According to Mr. Duvon, the kids were young, just around 10 to 11 years old, basically just a few years older than Robert.
“Boy, what are you eating,” The lead boy asked. He was the one who got punished when his friends ratted him out about him bullying Ezekiel and his two brothers.
He was surprised that they were still together.
“It’s a roast beef sandwich. It’s roasted meat and vegetables stuffed inside bread. It’s really delicious!” Ezekiel was surprised when Robert answered.
He was just glad that his younger brothers didn’t seem to be afraid of the other kids.
“You want one? We have an extra three sandwiches here. We also have fruit juice but we don’t have extra glasses,” Ezekiel offered which surprised the boys.
After a few seconds of deliberating, Ezekiel could see the desire in the boys’ eyes so he offered again. The three boys took the sandwiches from the table and began eating them.
The moment the three boys bit into the sandwich, much like Robert and Luke, their eyes went wide, and began exclaiming that the sandwich was delicious. The three previous bullies were eating too fast that Ezekiel was afraid they were going to choke so he offered the water bottle to them and they all drank from the bottle.
The look of appreciation on their face when they tasted the water, which was spelled to taste like fruit juice, made Ezekiel a bit proud of how powerful his magic was.
The three boys ate so fast that they were finished with the sandwiches even though Ezekiel and his two brothers were not yet halfway done with theirs.
The three boys thanked them with blushing faces then they all ran away which only made Ezekiel smile.
Robert and Luke stared at the three boys who ran and went back to eating their sandwiches. After lunch, Ezekiel checked the time and it was only around two in the afternoon so he decided to roam around the village market.
The village was really large and he wondered why it was called a village and not a town. He decided he would ask Mr. Duvon the next day.
They arrived at the section where horses and donkeys were being sold. Ezekiel was surprised at how costly the horses were when he listened in to a merchant who was buying a horse. He then looked at the horses in the corral.
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
Ezekiel noticed a donkey that was being led away by one of the horse traders. The donkey was limping and looked like it was heavily injured.
“Sir, where are you bringing that donkey?” Ezekiel asked the young man who was leading the donkey away.
“We’re going to slaughter it. It was injured by a wolf during the travel from an inland village to the city. The caravan that was bringing the horses and donkeys left it here. I was just surprised that the wolves attacked the caravan since it was heavily guarded. All the wolves were killed as expected. The donkey shouldn’t last long, at most three days, before it dies. Such a pity.”
“Can I buy it from you for 2 silver coins?” Ezekiel asked.
“What do you need it for? The donkey can’t be eaten!” The young horse trader said.
“I managed to get some herbs from the forest that could maybe cure it. Since you’re just going to kill it, you can just sell it to me then.”
“I know you! You’re that orphan who has been killing a lot of ferocious animals in the forest near here! Wait I’ll go ask boss.”
After a few minutes, the young horse trader returned.
“The boss said that you can purchase it for 2 silver coins as long as you are aware that the donkey would die soon and confirmed that you’re not being cheated,” The young man said.
Ezekiel simply handed 2 silver coins to the young horse trader and led the limping donkey away. On the way back to their house on the outskirts, Robert asked him why they purchased the limping donkey.
“He’ll be our donkey from now on. Remember I have magic? I can cure him. We’ll need a horse or a donkey to hitch the cart I’m planning to purchase.”
Even though the donkey was limping, the animal was following obediently. Ezekiel was a bit worried about the animal once it was cured since he had read that donkeys were stubborn animals. He then just shrugged and thought that he would deal with it when that situation happened.
Soon, he had to stop walking since the donkey looked exhausted and it was swaying. It looked like it was about to fall so Ezekiel cast Healing Elixir and poured the contents of the vial into an apple he retrieved from his 4th tab space then he fed the apple to the donkey who munched it excitedly.
The two boys jumped from the cart where they were riding and looked at the donkey that was eating the apple.
After a few seconds, the donkey honked, and looked like a burst of energy was injected into the animal. Obviously, it was cured but based on the wound on its leg, it wasn’t fully healed yet so he cast the Healing Elixir spell again, poured it into a second apple, and fed it to the donkey.
This time all the wounds in the donkey’s body disappeared. The donkey became extremely affectionate and kept bumping its head on Ezekiel as if it were thanking him for curing it.
“The donkey is fully cured. We should name it. What name do you want the donkey to have?” Ezekiel asked his brothers.
“Is it a boy donkey?” Robert asked and he nodded.
“We should name him Prince Charming!”
Ezekiel laughed when he heard what Robert had said. The fairy tale that he had been telling the kids for the past few nights was Cinderella.
They continued walking toward their home and this time, Ezekiel didn’t need to lead the donkey. It was following them obediently.
When they arrived home, Ezekiel tied the donkey to a tree near the front of their house. He planned to research the internet on how to take care of a donkey.
When they returned home, he immediately cast Galder’s Tower to renew the spell to make sure that it wouldn’t disappear while they were sleeping. There was an indicator in his system browser about an active spell but he couldn’t be looking at his system browser all the time so he planned to cast the spell once in the morning, and once in the evening to make sure that the house would be in existence all the time.
The two boys ran upstairs to play in the washroom. Robert shouted that he wanted to swim in the washtub and Ezekiel just told them to take care. At least the washtub was safer than the river.
While the kids were playing upstairs, Ezekiel read up on how to take care of the donkey. At least he could purchase its food from the system shopping site but there was so much advice that he was getting confused.
He decided that he would feed the donkey tonight with hay that he would purchase from the system shopping site then he would go back to the horse trader the next day to get his advice on how to take care of the donkey.
Ezekiel bought some hay from his system shopping site for a copper coin, went outside, and began feeding it to the donkey. The donkey munched on the hay enthusiastically. Now regarding water, he didn’t know how much water it should drink so he decided to get water from the water barrel in their old shack since he could not get water from the tower. Anything from the inside would disappear once he stepped outside and it included water.
When he returned from their old shack, Ezekiel retried the bucket with water from his 4th tab space and placed it beside the donkey. The donkey began drinking the water.
Soon the donkey was done eating and drinking so he placed the bucket back into his inventory after cleaning it with Prestidigitation.
Suddenly, the donkey began defecating and there was so much feces that came out of the animal that he was shocked. Ezekiel was truly glad of his Prestidigitation spell since one cast of the spell that was placed in eleven slots cleaned the place up in seconds.
He decided to clean the donkey as well and the donkey’s hair became clean and glossy.
