TBE Chapter 58

  TBE Chapter 58

Ezekiel was hoping that he would earn the same amount of coins that he did in the first village when he sold the items there but he was a bit doubtful since during that time, he was assisted by one of the merchants there.

His little family needed all the coins they could get that wouldn’t put them in danger, like selling spices and other noticeable stuff. The gold coins would allow him and his two brothers to travel comfortably and not only that, it was used to purchase the spellbooks from his system shopping site and increase the size of his inventory which he called 4th tab space since it’s located in the 4th tab of his system browser.

Ezekiel still felt that it was a pity that he wasn’t an adult since his body’s age and stature limited him on what he could do. He was supposed to be fourteen years old but because he was so small due to malnutrition, he looked like a twelve-year-old kid and that meant that any adult that they met on the road with malicious behavior might have nefarious intentions regarding their belongings. Even their donkey, Prince Charming, looked valuable now due to him being clean and healthy.

Not only that, the three of them looked clean and were beginning to look healthy because of the nutritious food they had been eating and they were eating a lot of it. Ezekiel kept hoping that because of the nutritious food, his small stature would catch up to his body’s age.

Even though Ezekiel was averse to killing, he wouldn’t hesitate to use his magic to defend himself and his brothers even if it were exposed that he was a wizard.

He arrived at the market soon and saw that the merchants were already active and there were already a lot of buyers roaming around. Ezekiel directly went to the location he selected yesterday afternoon and already talked to the merchants beside him. The one on the right was selling fruits and vegetables and the one to the left was selling raw meat. There was a small opening between them maybe because the merchants did not want to affect each other’s products but that was convenient for Ezekiel since the space was enough for his cart.

He tied Prince Charming at a pole located at the back and began arranging his cart. He removed the tarpaulin covering and opened the chest. Ezekiel also arranged the display cases that he was using to display the items that he would sell and he also made sure that the Post-it notes display the prices of each of the items prominently.

It took him around thirty minutes before he was done arranging his things and noticed there were already prospective buyers waiting for him to be done. Ezekiel could not fault them since his products were really good to look at. Each of the items was clean and pristine, the lines straight and if one touched them, they would feel the surface were smooth and there were no bumps.

Those who knew woodworking would probably notice how unnatural each of the items was since they were not made by hand but by machines. Although if a woodworker were used to working with his hands and was very meticulous, they could achieve the same thing but that would consume a lot of time in Ezekiel’s opinion.

Each of the items that he purchased from his system shopping site was aesthetically pleasing so the moment he went behind his cart which signified that the makeshift stall was open, the people who were watching him set up came and looked closed at each of the products.

Ezekiel saw that he didn’t need to advertise since the onlookers were highly impressed at each of the items and the fact that he put a price tag on each of the items helped him a lot since he didn’t need to remember the prices he set for each of the items since it was there already.

Some of the onlookers began haggling with him but Ezekiel was adamant and only shaved off a minute amount from the price tag even if the buyers were threatening him that he would not be able to sell a thing.

Ezekiel knew that the aggressive haggling that bordered on harassment was normal to these people since he had been observing the merchants and customers yesterday. He gave as good as they got and managed to start selling items especially when he shouted that his products were limited and once they’re gone, they’re gone. He reiterated to the customers that they could even sell the items for a much higher price in a more populated city.

After a couple of hours, he managed to sell a few items and he put the earnings in one of the empty wooden boxes that he made. He would count the total earnings after he was done selling for the day. At around ten in the morning when there was a brief lull, Ezekiel surreptitiously purchased two chocolate-flavored loaves of bread and one liter of cold water and called Yuki Onna.

A lot of people were surprised and a bit afraid when Yuki Onna arrived but they calmed down when they saw that the huge owl was Ezekiel’s pet. He asked his familiar to bring the food to Robert and Luke then he went back to focusing on selling his items. He did briefly checked on his brothers using Yuki Onna’s eyes and saw that they were playing with the villagers’ children in some sort of tiny forest or possibly the village park.

Ezekiel sold a few more items before lunch and even the two merchants beside him each bought an item from him. It appeared that they were anxious that there wouldn’t be enough items at the end of the day.

During lunchtime, he covered his stall with tarpaulin and went to Prince Charming who was tied behind him. He fed the donkey with some of his feed and watered him then he took his lunch sitting beside the family animal. Of course, he also sent a couple of bento boxes and a liter of cold water to his brothers through Yuki Onna.

After lunch, Ezekiel rested for a bit and only opened his stall at around one in the afternoon. There were a lot fewer customers during that time and more than likely they were somewhere else eating or resting.

During that bit of downtime, Ezekiel reviewed the grammar book that he had gotten from Norman Duvon and was a bit impressed at himself for being able to go through the phrases much more smoothly. He knew that his reading and comprehension level was already on par with the average literate villager so he decided that he would now focus more on the geography book instead of the beginner book.

At around two in the afternoon, more customers arrived again, and Ezekiel focused on selling his items. He was happy that his products were popular even though they were considered pricey. Everyone could see their quality so it was understandable and he was excited to know his total earnings later that night.

Ezekiel started to clean his stall the moment the last item was sold. Even those items that he had made which were priced much lower compared to the items that he purchased from the system shopping site were sold.

When he checked the time, it was half past four in the afternoon so he asked Yuki Onna to bring a couple of loaves of bread and a liter of bottle to his brother then he began traveling back towards the inn after saying goodbye to the two merchants beside him.

“Are you still selling items tomorrow?" The fruits and vegetables merchant asked.

“Yes. I have more items in my room at the inn.”

Ezekiel was planning to purchase more items from his system shopping site to sell the next day. When he arrived at the stable, he asked John to feed and water Prince Charming and gave the stableman a couple of copper coins. He then headed directly to the inn’s bathroom to take a bath and after that went directly to their room.

He planned to count his earnings immediately. Since it was only around five in the afternoon, he felt that it was still early to call Robert and Luke back and when he checked them through Yuki Onna, they were sitting with their friends telling stories. He was amused when he heard them tell a garbled version of the bedtime stories to their friends that Ezekiel had been telling them every night.

Ezekiel counted the total coins that he earned. Of course, he got an inkling of how much it would be since he sold each of the items around seven to ten times what he paid them on his system shopping site. The final number was 1 gold and 80 silver coins and he added them to the box that was holding the total amount of coins that he had earned through selling wooden arts and crafts, which was now 2 gold coins in total.

The 2 gold coins were separate from his general coins which were 9 gold 28 silver and a few copper coins. He didn’t know if he would earn the same amount the next day but he was planning to purchase 20 silver coins worth of wooden arts and crafts and was happy that the selection in his system shopping site was so huge that the only reason why there would be a repeated item was if he consciously chose to purchase the same thing.
