TBE Chapter 70

  TBE Chapter 70

The sun was shining above but it was not too harsh since it was still in the middle of the spring season. The breeze was comfortable and there was a sense of idleness about Ezekiel. The cart was also surrounded by the noises from the birds and the noises that came from Robert and Luke playing with their new toy ship and pirates and it was pleasant enough that they were making him a bit sleepy even though it was only mid-morning.

Ezekiel knew that soon he would have to purchase a new cart that had a roof since the sun would be very punishing during summer. He might even think of purchasing a portable air-conditioner and generator so they would have a comfortable travel but those were just idle thoughts.

He was glad that the Galder’s Tower description said that towers would always be warm and comfortable and to Ezekiel’s understanding, that meant that the inside of the towers would have a comfortable temperature even during the hottest day of the summer or the coldest day in winter.

He loved the Galder’s Tower spell. It made their travel very comfortable. He didn’t even mind living with it permanently since the towers, although small were versatile enough and the design could be changed anytime based on his imagination. Since the internet consisted of very talented people, there were even design submissions from the netizens that he was planning to apply to the spell. He particularly liked the Elven Spire design since it was elegant and the stairs weren’t a simple ladder and hatch but an actual circular stone ladder that was located in the center of the tower and the furniture surrounded the stairwell.

With those kinds of stairs that were elegant and easy to navigate, he would even consider just creating a single tower instead of the multiple houses that he had been making. The first floor would be the Living Room and Kitchen. The living room could also work as their dining room and his workplace. The second floor would be the bedroom and the third floor would be the washroom but he could only cast a three-story tower once he reached level 4.

Ezekiel would still have to cast a separate tower to be used as their mounts’ stable though since he didn’t want to smell the animals while he was working or resting.

One peculiar thing about his Galder’s Tower spell though that it provided water. However, he couldn’t bring the water outside because, during testing, anything that came with the spell would turn into smoke when brought outside. He tried searching the internet for information about the spell and he didn’t find any info about the spell providing water to the caster. He briefly wondered where the magic came from that allowed the spell to keep producing water. Was it from him or the ambient mana in the surroundings? It does provide heat and water while the spell was up and that was still a form of energy that needed a source which in terms of fantasy should come from magical energy commonly referred to as mana. The water could be the same but the fact was, he just didn’t have enough knowledge to even form a valid theory so Ezekiel just accepted the fact that his Galder’s Tower could produce water that they could use to wash up.

After thinking about improving Galder’s Tower, Ezekiel thought about the hunter’s situation with the Galder’s Tower that he left behind. He was able to think about different things on the road since Prince Charming’s walk was stable and instead of truly falling asleep, he was thinking about different things.

Ezekiel wished that he could see the hunter and his family’s reaction when the houses disappeared and that thought made him snicker a bit.

“What are you laughing about?” Ezekiel heard from his back and when he turned, he saw Robert and Luke briefly stopped playing, looking at him giggling like a fool.

“The houses that we left behind wanted to be claimed by that hunter but they will disappear tomorrow morning. I was imagining their reaction once the houses suddenly were gone,” He told his brothers he then laughed out loud. His brothers joined him and then after a while ignored him again to continue playing with Merry and Luffy’s gang toys.

This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.

Ezekiel suddenly thought of purchasing the One Piece manga and giving it to his brothers but decided instead that once they stopped for the night, he would start teaching Robert and Luke to read and write the common language, at least for an hour a day.

An hour wasn’t much time but they were on the road and he had a lot of projects going on like his wood crafting and butchering plans. Even if it weren’t much time, Ezekiel thought that it should accumulate and by the time they reached a city, his brothers could then join the normal classes for young students.

“Robert, Luke, tonight I’ll teach you how to read and write. It would only take an hour a day,” He said to his brothers.

Ezekiel saw his brothers looking at him when they heard him say that he would be teaching them but then Robert just shrugged and went back to playing and Luke just ignored what he said which made him shake his head and smile.

They stopped during lunchtime to eat and Ezekiel was glad that his brothers liked his cooking. He did make sure that they were delicious and nutritious but the fact that their drinks were just cold water, his Prestidigitation spell made it so that every drink they consume was delicious as well. To be honest, even plain bread could be delicious with his favorite spell. Before they ate lunch, Ezekiel also fed and watered Prince Charming. He liked seeing his donkey healthy so he made sure that it was always well fed. He even spent some time reading about facts on how to take care of his donkey although, he didn’t know if they applied to the animals of this world but they shouldn’t be too different since Prince Charming wasn’t an extraordinary animal.

The sun became much gentler they continued their travel after lunch. Ezekiel felt that this new world that he stumbled into was truly beautiful with its verdant forest and the gently swaying grass by the side of the road. He was glad that his little family hadn’t encountered a lot of vicious predators, animals, or otherwise on the road since it made their journey enjoyable.

Ezekiel knew that it would help him a lot if they did encounter a lot of enemies on the road since they were precious experience points but he thought that making his and his brothers' lives stable and peaceful which were conducive to the healthy growth of their mind and body was better compared to him becoming more powerful.

Of course, he would change his mind if they encountered powerful enemies all the time but as of that moment, the only enemies they had encountered so far were regular animals and people with the exception of the zombies that he fought with inside what the villagers were calling a haunted mansion in that village that they had stayed in.

At around four in the afternoon, Ezekiel started looking for a good campsite where they could stay for the night and after a few minutes, he just decided to enter the forest and look for a clearing wide enough for three Galder’s Tower houses that he had been casting during their travel.

At least, with Yuki Onna guarding them from above, no creature could come near them without Ezekiel being aware of them.

When the Galder’s Tower houses were formed, Ezekiel’s brothers ran inside the bedroom immediately. He knew that they would probably go into the washroom so they could play with their toy ship while it floated in the water inside the bathtub.

In the meantime, Ezekiel made sure that their donkey was comfortable in the stable, and then he went to the dining house to continue his plan of constructing stackable boxes that they could use to organize and store their items in their cart.

After a couple of hours, he was successful in crafting a second box that he could stack on the first box that he had already made but to be honest, he wasn’t very satisfied with the boxes. When one looked at them, it was obvious that they were made by an amateur carpenter but then again, he was proud that even without an actual teacher, he was able to create something like them. Given, that he had access to the Internet as his study resource, it was still a fine achievement in his opinion.

He then cleaned everything up and put the two stackable boxes in their cart then he went to the washroom which was still being used as his brothers’ playroom. He took a shower while his brothers were still preoccupied with one of the bathtubs playing but he had asked them to stop playing and take a bath so the boys leaped inside the bathtub to continue their playing while they were bathing.

At least they were following his command that the only thing that should be wet was their arms while they were playing earlier since if they were soaked in water for several hours, it was inevitable that they would get sick so he was grateful that his brothers were careful.

After they bathed, Ezekiel cleaned their clothes using his favorite spell and then went downstairs to eat dinner.
