XIX: Iris

I hear a noise in the distance. I turn my head around from the fire making little noise possible. Luckily Lindsey is fast asleep. I turn my whole body around and the forest is filled with darkness. I hear my name called, Jaxson is here. I get up a head over to his voice. I find him lighting a torch. He stands up and turns to me.

  “You ready?” he asks.

“More than I'll ever be,” he grabs my hand.

  “Let's go, it's a far walk.”

  …

I see the end of what seemed like a never-ending forest. Jaxson lets go of my hand and leads me to this bottomless ravine but it goes outwards forever.

“Wow, what is this?” I say taken aback.

“The voice led me here. It told me if I pushed someone down there they would lose all their lives. But I wouldn't gain any from it, it goes all around the area of land” I reach for his arm. I really don't want to die from Jaxson. He turns his head. “Don't worry I won’t push you off,” he smiles and holds my hand again.

“So basically we are on an island but instead of water, it's endless darkness,” I squeeze Jaxon’s hand. I stare into the darkness then I turn to Jaxson. “Why did you tell me this?”

“I didn't know I needed to tell someone and you’re the only person I really trust.”
