I admit... I have way too many subplots going on. Ugh! I hate past me sometimes.
Speaking of the past. It's already been three years since I started writing this story. Crazy.
I did mention at some point that I was working on publishing the first volume on Amazon, but after much deliberation, I held off on doing that because out of all the stories I want to publish, this one would require the most revision and rewrite. The original themes and tone I envisioned for this story are drastically different from what I've initially drafted here, so the version of the story that I'll eventually be publishing on Amazon (probably not gonna happen until late next year) will be drastically different from this version.
As a consequence, this version won't get stubbed. So I guess that's a good thing.

Here is a chronological timeline of major events from "Saga of Ebonheim" Seasons 1 through 3, using the AE (After Ebonheim's Manifestation) year system for consistency:
Year 0 AE:
- Various groups, displaced and disillusioned by their former gods, unite under leaders like Engin Meric.
- They found the village (~800 settlers) in the Eldergrove valley, naming it Ebonheim after the resilient local trees.
- The council decides to create a fictional patron deity, also named Ebonheim, to foster unity and deter outsiders. They collaboratively design her appearance and virtues.
Year 0-2 AE:
- Villagers begin offering prayers and performing acts of devotion to their imagined goddess.
- These acts generate Quintessence, tracked by the mysterious Akashic System.
Year 2 AE (Approximate - Ebonheim Manifests):
- Sufficient Quintessence accumulates, causing the goddess Ebonheim to manifest, initially as a mote of light.
- Ebonheim explores her surroundings and takes physical form, getting briefly trapped in briars.
- Her first attempt to reveal herself nearly causes Old Man Doyle's death; she heals him using 'Ailment Cleansing Pulse'.
- She is captured by Thorsten, suspected of being a spirit, and interrogated by him and Engin. She uses Divine Sight to reveal personal details but fails to convince them fully and escapes.
- Hiding, she learns about her divine attributes and abilities via the Akashic System.
- She encounters hostile Kungwan monsters and inadvertently leads them towards the village.
- The village fights the Kungwans; Ebonheim aids with 'Entangle' and a makeshift catapult before Hilda arrives and defeats the creatures.
- Ebonheim proves her divinity by making the resilient Ebon trees harvestable, finally gaining the village's full acceptance.
- She integrates into village life, learns skills, completes daily quests for Quintessence, and notes the village stats in the Akashic System.
- A sparring match with Thorsten highlights her need for more power.
- Hilda teaches her archery and 'Verdant Craftmanship'; Ebonheim crafts an Ebon Bow and acquires new combat abilities.
- A Qliphothic Remnant (aberration) is accidentally released from a mine; Ebonheim, with Lira's aid, defeats it after a difficult battle.
- Ebonheim discovers a hidden Magitech chamber in the mine but the Akashic System triggers a security protocol, wiping her memory of it.
- Merchant Roderick Sedley arrives, learns of the harvestable Ebonwood, and proposes opening the village to trade. The council agrees after debate. Gold is discovered in a new mine.
- Ebonheim builds the western road using 'Path of the Earthen Passage' and encounters the Ent guardian Elmsworth.
- Ebonheim cleanses a corrupted grove protected by Elmsworth, saving the dryad Aelindra by removing another mysterious Magitech device.
Year 3 AE (Approximate):
- During a village festival, Ebonheim accumulates enough Quintessence and ascends to 'Lesser God - Ascendant Stage'.
- She receives her first invitation to the Celestial Auction.
- She attends the Auction, meets other gods like Aetheron and Ariastra, and observes the bidding process. She realizes she can acquire abilities far more cheaply via the Akashic System, a unique advantage.
- The starving Aslankoyash beastkin tribe, led by Serrandyl, raids Ebonheim. Ebonheim intervenes non-lethally, capturing the raiders. After hearing their plight, Ebonheim and the council offer aid and allow them to integrate into the village.
- An unnatural storm, the Elemental Conflux, hits the valley. Ebonheim learns about the phenomenon and the Elemental Keystone from Elmsworth. She retrieves the Keystone, acquiring 'Elemental Admixture'.
- Ebonheim, aided by Serrandyl, Thorsten, Lira, and others, performs the ritual at the planar breach, sealing it and ending the Conflux despite heavy resistance from elementals.
- The village mourns the casualties (Caleb, Leiv). Ebonheim grieves and keeps vigil.
- Ebonheim discusses the Akashic System and Mana with the reclusive Arcanist Th'maine, who requests her aid in his research.
- (Peaceful passage of a year) Ebonheim attends her second Celestial Auction. She acquires the Gauntlet of the Storm Giant and the Chalice of Eternal Nectar. The Chalice sparks a debate about longevity and inequality, resulting in a council being formed to manage its use.
- Kungwan War: Seraphidae scouts report a massive Kungwan resurgence. A scouting party (Bjorn, Th'maine, Serrandyl, Lira) discovers a hidden Magitech gateway abducting people and imprisoning the dragon Kelzryn. Ebonheim leads the defense against the Kungwan horde, utilizing her Elemental Admixture abilities. Ebonheim defeats the Kungwan alpha near the gateway. She uses sudden, unexplained engineering knowledge ('Akashic Engineering' skill unlocked?) to dismantle the device holding Kelzryn, freeing him but causing herself to de-manifest. While de-manifested, she experiences visions and encounters a mysterious cloaked figure. She returns after a month.
Year 4 AE:
The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.
- (Start of Season 2) Village enjoys peace after the Kungwan War. Ebonheim remains concerned about the Magitech group and the Akashic System's memory wipe.
- A massive caravan (~5000 settlers) led by Roderick arrives, including Artificer guilds (Les Artisanats d'éclair led by Evelyne, Ethervein Enclave led by Orin), Silverguard mercenaries (led by Lorne), Hrafnsteinn warriors (led by Ingrid), and Deep Miners from Gorgandale (led by Brevin).
- Welcome feast and integration period begins. Ebonheim uses powers for construction. Settlements established (Stoneheart Chamber). Conflicts arise and are managed.
- First joint Harvest Festival is held. Ebonheim and Evelyne share a dance.
- Verdant Pathway Expedition (East): Ebonheim leads a diverse party (Thorsten, Ingrid, Lorne, etc.) to build the eastern road. They survive attacks by an Abyssal Dweller and Morkhai, traverse the illusion-inducing Miasma of Dejection, discover ancient ruins containing Magitech artifacts (cube, Aetherframe 'Cepheid'), and battle but ultimately ally with the Harpy Queen Liselotte.
- Brigands attempt to raid the town, instigated by Xellos who had been manipulating them with his power. They are thwarted by the town's defenders.
- Kelzryn arrives in humanoid form, seeking to become Ebonheim's Exarch. Awkward tension develops between Kelzryn, Ebonheim, and Evelyne.
- Artificers begin studying Cepheid; Ebonheim demonstrates its 'Divine Arsenal' mode.
- (Start of Season 3) Roderick returns with news from Ardeunius (Order of the Burning Shield) about Asuras (demons) occupying Old Drakon Castle and holding a god (Xellos) captive. Ebonheim reluctantly agrees to lead a raid.
- Siege of Drakon Castle: Ebonheim, Serrandyl, Ingrid, Evelyne, Viviane, Silverguards, and the Order attack the castle. Ebonheim rescues Xellos, who is afflicted with 'Godblight'. (Later revealed the raid was orchestrated by Xellos himself).
- Xellos recovers slowly in Ebonheim's cabin. Kelzryn expresses concern. The council decides Xellos must leave once healed. Ebonheim realizes she needs food unlike other gods.
- Xellos manipulates Ebonheim, playing on her sympathy while hiding his true intent to use her. He used an 'Irresistible Influence Mantra' on her. He proposes establishing new settlements with her help. The council discusses the idea but tables it due to concerns.
Year 5 AE:
- Period of relative peace and growth.
Year 6 AE:
- (Two years pass since Xellos's departure) Ebonheim notes the town's significant growth (Pop: 6051) and reflects on her people and her unusual connection to the Akashic System.
- (Sunswell) News arrives of potential settlers finding a site southeast of Ebonheim. Ebonheim discusses trade tolls with Kelzryn.
- (Dayhelm) Miners discover a potential path to the Underrealm. Ebonheim leads an expedition (Evelyne, Orin, Serelle, Lilin). They discover Eclipsium crystals and encounter Netherling Cryptids. They are trapped by a cave-in, discover Vesperia ore, and eventually escape. Ebonheim observes the Netherling colony. Gossip arises about Ebonheim and Evelyne's relationship. The council decides to cautiously stockpile Vesperia. Engin asks Lorne and the Silverguards to mediate between Ardeunius (now occupying Old Drakon Castle) and Elmsworth.
- (Scarlettide) The Silverguards travel to Old Drakon Castle to mediate. Ardeunius meets Ebonheim, explains the Order's god-neutral stance, and receives her support. Silverguards spend months at the castle. They receive a message to return for the Harvest Festival. They journey back with Lira and the sprite Ivera. Ebonheim tells Th'maine he's nominated for the Chalice; he deduces the other nominees. Argoran confronts Serrandyl about mating; she confesses interest in Thorsten. Engin decides to accept the Chalice after talking with Suna. Harvest Festival: Chalice ceremony - 7 accept (Engin, Bjorn, Th'maine, Argoran, Roderick, Ionus, Brzenk), 2 decline (Olav, Hilda). Argoran's arm regenerates.
Year 7 AE:
- (Lustertide) A new caravan (~3000 settlers led by Gareth) travels towards the Eldergrove. They are attacked by Bog Trolls. Xellos saves them, reveals himself as a god, and joins them. They found the settlement of Corinth; Xellos becomes their patron. Ebonheim visits Corinth, learns Xellos is its god, and is informed about Aetheron's plan regarding the ascension barrier.
Year 8 AE:
- (Amberfall) Serrandyl actively (and awkwardly) courts Thorsten. Reo challenges Serrandyl for her affection and loses. Thorsten, confused, seeks advice from Bjorn and Ebonheim. Thorsten asks Serrandyl fishing ("a date?"). They hunt a spirit boar together, get trapped by vines, and share their first kiss.
- (Raincrown) Fractal Conduit Quest: Ebonheim joins Aetheron, Ariastra, Nephri, and Syntris at the Sanctum. They enter the fractal dimensions to find the source of the ascension blockage. They face trials in shifting realities, battle multiplying sentinels and reality-warping guardians, solve puzzles involving time manipulation and harmonic resonance, and destroy reality filters/locks (obelisks, constructs). The final battle involves fighting a gestalt guardian formed from five merged guardians.
- Mysterious Encounter: After defeating the final guardian, a robed figure ('Grimoire') appears, interacts with the main Quintessence conduit (releasing stored energy to the others but not Ebonheim), and vanishes. Ebonheim experiences a painful reaction and a Divine Sight warning about the entity. The gods return to their domains.
- (Dayhelm) Ebonheim debriefs Xellos in Corinth; he gifts her a mysterious bracelet she cannot analyze. Ebonheim reflects on the upcoming Founding Festival and town life. Founding Festival: Amidst celebrations, Ebonheim ascends to 'Intermediate God - Dawn Stage'. Elders discuss her rapid ascension rate.
