Chapter 15 - The War Begins

  Space feels… different.

  Not empty.

  Not silent.

  Something about it hums.

Like a living thing, breathing between the stars.

  I can feel it.

The cosmic energy inside me reacts to the vastness around us. The moment we drop out of hyperspace, my skin tingles with the sheer scale of what we’re about to do.

  Jovalis-9 looms ahead.

A massive war-foundry planet, glowing with industrial fire.

From orbit, it looks like a metallic behemoth, its surface covered in shipyards, refineries, and towering weapons facilities.

  A lifeline for Akunon’s forces.

  A target.

Dr. Lynn’s voice crackles over my comm.

  “This is a bad idea.”

I grin. “Yeah, but it’s our bad idea.”

  She doesn’t laugh.

Because we both know the truth—

We’re not just here to fight.

We’re here to send a message.

The Cosmic Monster is no longer running.

  And the Hyper Space God?

  I’m coming for him.

Our ship—a modified stealth frigate Bao cobbled together—drifts closer to Jovalis-9, cloaked from enemy sensors.

  Inside, the strike team prepares.

  I look around.

A mix of Earth’s best soldiers, rogue off-world mercs, and a few exiles from Akunon’s war-torn empire.

  They don’t trust me.

  Not yet.

  But they know one thing:

If we don’t stop Akunon, no one will.

Dr. Lynn double-checks her rifle. “Our intel says Morgath commands this outpost personally. Expect a full battalion.”

  I crack my knuckles. “Perfect.”

She glares at me. “Yuri—don’t get cocky.”

  I smirk. “Too late.”

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

  We land.

Stealth holds for about five seconds before all hell breaks loose.

  Alarms blare. Defense turrets activate.

  And then—

A massive figure steps onto the battlefield.

  Morgath, The Tyrant Forge.

Taller than Ordis. Four massive arms, each wielding a different brutal weapon—a plasma axe, a gravitational hammer, a shock-blade, and a fist crackling with seismic energy.

His armor is scarred, a testament to wars across galaxies.

His eyes lock onto me, burning like dying suns.

  He grins.

“I have been waiting for you, Cosmic Monster.”

His voice rumbles through the battlefield.

I smirk. “Yeah? Well, I’m here now.”

He slams his massive hammer into the ground.

  The entire battlefield shakes.

  And then—

  The war begins.

Morgath charges like a walking tank.

I blast forward, colliding with him mid-air.

The impact sends a shockwave across the battlefield, tearing apart structures and sending enemy troops flying.

He swings his axe—I barely dodge, the blade carving through the very fabric of space.

I counter with a punch to the chest—

  He catches it.

  And smirks.

“You are strong,” he growls. “But strength alone will not save you.”

Then he throws me through an entire refinery.

I crash through steel, fire, and molten metal, slamming into the ground with a crater-sized impact.

I cough, shaking off the pain.

  Okay.

  He’s not just strong.

  He’s tactical.

He’s fought beings like me before.

  Which means…

  I need to fight smarter.

Dr. Lynn’s voice crackles through my comm.

“We’ve got hostiles on all sides! We need an opening—now!”

I glance at the foundry’s energy core in the distance.

  A perfectly vulnerable target.

  I grin.

  “Leave that to me.”

I blast off, dodging Morgath’s next attack.

He pursues, but I push my speed to the limit, weaving through explosions and collapsing structures.

  The enemy forces chase me.

  Good.

  Let them.

  I hit the core.

A massive reactor, pulsing with energy.

Morgath looms behind me, his weapons glowing.

  I plant my feet.

And let the cosmic energy inside me burn hotter than ever before.

  I turn to Morgath.

  And I smile.

  “You wanted a monster?”

  I unleash everything.

A blast of pure cosmic destruction erupts from my hands, tearing through the reactor.

The explosion rips through the entire foundry.

  Morgath staggers, shielding himself.

  The enemy fleet reels.

  I grab my comm.

“Lynn! Get everyone back to the ship! Now!”

  She doesn’t argue.

As the base collapses, I lock eyes with Morgath.

  He’s wounded.

  But not defeated.

  Not yet.

He glares at me, breathing hard.

I smirk. “Round two’s gonna be fun.”

  Then—

I blast off, escaping into the sky as the entire war foundry collapses into fire.

  We break orbit.

  The mission was a success.

  Jovalis-9 is in ruins.

  Akunon’s supply lines are crippled.

But as I sit in the ship’s war room, I know one thing—

  This isn’t a victory.

This is just the first strike.

Akunon is going to hit back.

  Hard.

Dr. Lynn sits across from me.

  “You okay?”

  I exhale.

  I should feel proud.

Instead, all I feel is the weight of what’s coming.

I look out at the stars.

  I whisper.

  “Not yet.”

Akunon watches the destruction of Jovalis-9 on his monitors.

  His expression doesn’t change.

He sits in silence for a long time.

  Then—

  He chuckles.

  Slow. Amused.

“Finally,” he mutters. “You are beginning to understand.”

Behind him, Morgath kneels, wounded but alive.

Akunon doesn’t even look at him.

Instead, his gaze remains locked on the stars.

  On me.

  And then—

  He smiles.
