Chapter 62: Kioharumomo

The morning couldn't have gone worse. I mean, I started off the day watching someone die again. That can't be very good for my mental health, can it? To be completely fair, I didn't know if I could even turn him into a vampire, and he knew the risks, so it's not totally my fault now, is it?

I killed him, I know! I am just trying to drink a big cup of copium since the nurses think he died of natural causes when I very well know that's not the case. At the very least, I got to say goodbye to him. Unlike Seras and Nero, they seemed like cool guys. I bet our adventures would've been great together.

Oh yeah, that reminds me of today's mission before the lady interrupted me by telling me Alex was still alive. I was supposed to find a lady named Kiokukaru or something like that in town. "How did the visit with your friend go, madam?" Jaimie asks me right away as I leave the adventurer's guild.

I suppose I also forgot to tell you that now I've got this guy that follows me around everywhere when I am outside, did I? His name is Jamie, and he is a charming, cold killer. Since I am technically categorized as potential royalty, Adriale assigned me my own personal bodyguard, which is actually quite nice to have.

Although I do feel a bit weird about having a bodyguard, it kind of makes me feel like a princess in an old Disney movie, which is great until you realize that I am quite capable as well, not that I mind his company. "It went as well as it could've when your friend is on the verge of death," I respond to Jamie, who quickly starts following me as soon as I start walking into town.

"I'm sorry to hear that, mam, but I'm sure they appreciated your visit. It was a goodwill gesture for you to show up, so cheer up, my lady." Cut it out, Jamie! You're making me blush! This is the first thing that popped into my mind as my heart pounds faster, making it difficult to keep calm.

I know I've said it a thousand times, but I'll say it again: being a girl is not as bad as I thought. While having several weaknesses when it comes to my subscription to getting sexually harassed, this also poses the benefit that a lot of guys will also want to protect me more than if I were a guy.

If you think about it, most of my story can go on because I am a girl now. If I swapped genders, I doubt things would be going so swiftly. I mean, what would Martigan have done to me? He got me pregnant in this instance, but if I were a guy? Would he have cut off my dick or something? I guess I'll never know.

If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.

It's not like any of that matters now, though I quite like my current gender. It has its ups and downs, but for the most part, even if the downs are really deep, the highs are also pretty high. "There's Kioharumomo's shop, mam. Do you want me to wait outside or go in this time?" What the fuck did Jamie just say? I thought as he said Kio, whatever, whatever.

I swear the people in this nation hate regular plain names! No offense, but even the king has a weird one, with Jamie being the only one with a plain, uninteresting name. Everyone else is Romamama or Kiokuru or something, geez! Is this kingdom supposed to be the cheap copycat of Megumi's town or something? Canonical reference included.

"Well, I think they're supposed to take my measurements, so it will be fine if you keep watch outside," I respond to Jamie. He quickly nods, approving of my orders without question, and quickly moves toward the weird guy's shop. Hmm, I for sure thought it would be a gal, but hey, who am I to judge?

"Oh my, oh my, but let's see who we have here! If it isn't, good old Jamie! And I suppose you're Annabel, the renowned newest Adamantite adventurer in town!" Kio guy says while moving like a weird mix between Jack Sparrow and a super duper gay guy from a 90s movie.

I don't know how to describe the guy other than to say he was definitely arrogant. I mean, the guy was judging me with his eyes right away, squinting and making faces as he looked at me all over the place. Oh man, am I that flawed!? I thought to myself!

"Yes, she is indeed Madam Annabel. I believe the king already told you about her severe resistance to magic, so try not to go too crazy. Kioharumomo:" Gosh, how the hell did Jamie pronounce that without stuttering!? Let me try Kio-haru-momo. Oh, I guess it ain't so hard after all. It even sounds Japanese, although it would make no sense.

"UH! You offend me, dear Jamie! Yes, I know about her magical resistance already, and that's why I have prepared for this task quite well! I've got just the thing for such a young, beautiful lady like her. I won't fail!" Momo says while pointing his finger at Jamie, who doesn't seem bothered or anything, giving me the impression this wasn't his first rodeo with the guy.

"I am sorry, but what was your name again?" Ultimately, I couldn't help myself even when I tried to hold off my mouth a little bit. I had to ask!

"I am Kioharumomo, the best fashion designer in all of Romaritime!" Momo responds with such an aura that it feels weird, but it's okay. I mean, if the king trusts him, so be it. Kioharumomo, uh, try saying that twice!

"So, what are you doing today? I wasn't told." I ask Momo real quick, and he responds by pushing me inside his store, which is full of fancy dresses, suits, and armor sets of all types, hitting right in the lack of wealth! Oh man, this guy was a professional, alright!

"Oh, don't you worry, honey! It's just a simple magical armor pre-measurement! And also a bunch of other things like corset discipline and stuff you'll have a blast!" Momo responded with the most insincere thing I've heard so far, for what comes next is nothing but torture!
