Pain assaulted my body out of nowhere. I couldn’t help but let out a groan of pain. What the hell is going on?
My head was pounding as I found myself laying on a cold hard surface. I willed myself to sit up before barely managing to get halfway all to just collapse miserably right back in place.
My thoughts were jumbled all over the place. Where am I? What happened to me?! I was indignant at such a scenario.
Turning my head around a little I observed that I was in a dingy dark alley which just served to aid my confusion.
After another agonising struggle, I manage to sit myself up against the cold wall of the dark alley that I found myself in.
I was trying to keep my cool, since staying calm is always the best state to be in when experiencing the unknown. However, physically I was an absolute mess, and mentally probably worse, so not an easy task.
I glanced over myself just silently thinking. How am I in this situation?
Ignoring the state I was in for a moment, I peered down at my very unfamiliar clothing, which was certainly not anything I owned, let alone wore.
I was clothed in something that vaguely resembled robes; which were surprisingly comfortable to wear. This was my first time wearing such an outfit, and absolutely nothing made sense right now.
Then an idea struck me. I safe right now?
Suddenly I found strength in fear, perhaps the most potent form of strength. I powered through and stumbled my way out the dark alley, coming out to…
Another dark alley. Perfect.
That’s when noticed a glass shard on the floor beside me, it looked to be from a broken bottle. I glanced past it but at first, but then I had to do a double take, and my head snapped back to it.
I looked into the shard, and I saw myself look back. I saw myself look back; I was sure of it.
100% sure it SHOULD me, but no, that was certainly NOT me.
I saw a battered and bruised face with some dried blood around the nose with cut lips. I hastily tried to wipe away to help get a better look at my features.
The face looking at me and mimicking my every move was relatively average looking, just like I remembered, not that I would ever admit that.
Either way, this face was unequivocally not mine. A distinctly a different person, different hair different eyes and a different physique.
Suddenly a wild thought came to my mind, one so shocking it trumped anything else I felt before, even the pain and confusion was sent to the back of my mind at this thought.
Surely not… It can’t be. No, no, no. it can’t be right? I mean that’s just ridiculous; those are just stories.
I was zoned out a little, but I was gently taken out of my thoughts when I heard some faint sounds.
I followed them, after going through another alley, which was much cleaner. I took one more turn I saw real light ahead, and not just the spare sunshine that was rarely offered to the alleyways.
I started walking faster and faster until I glimpsed a street, I started to smell something that my stomach yearned for, good food.
A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
Me? I could smell some good food from a mile away, maybe a street vendor?
I saw a couple people pass by the alley, most not even sparing me a single glace, whilst some looked for a moment but quickly moved on.
I noted that their clothing was odd, almost like this was some sort of ancient drama…
Not what I wanted to see, I could feel my anxiety increasing, my suspicious growing, things didn’t look good for me.
I almost burst onto the street, looking around anxiously at my surroundings, things were slightly blurry for me but I could see well enough. What I saw was exactly what I feared.
My life is not a book.
It is not a film.
It is not any sort of story, so why, WHY has this happened to me?
I started to laugh, at first a light chuckle, which soon turned into a crazed laugh.
Transmigration. I’m in another damned fucking world.
People stared at me, which was reasonable, looking like a crazy man just laughing with wounds all over was a natural reaction.
People gossiped about me, just loudly enough for me to hear them.
“Is that young master Song? What’s wrong with him” a woman asked her husband, who looked at her and said “Young master? Ha that was a thing of the past, look at him now. I do feel sorry for what happened to his family, however it seems he has now gone mad. Let's leave before any trouble comes.”
My family? What happened to them?
I my light headache getting worse, I started to realise that the body I had, had a family.
I heard another talk about an attack, from what I could piece together, my family was attacked somehow, and it sounded quite serious. Great, just great.
I saw different emotions from the eyes on me, some frightened, some plain mocking and a looks of pity.
Just then. a young man and woman came running towards me, the young man stunned me for a moment, he was dazzling to say the least.
Dressed in an immaculate white robe, with a sword hanging by his waist, but what caught his attention was his model like features combined piercing emerald eyes. He looked like a perfect main character for some novel.
I froze for a moment, choosing between running away or staying, I didn’t want any trouble and really needed to get a stable understanding of my situation. Unfortunately, I had no choice, before I could even react, they were upon me.
I flinched as the young man grabbed me shouting “Duyi!! We have been looking for you all over, where have you been! what happened to you!?”
Duyi? Is that me?
He seemed to know me, and quite well at that and thankfully positively. He wore a very concerned look on his face, and he seemed genuinely worried about me.
Internally sighing in relief I tried to answer him, albeit a bit awkwardly.
“Hey…”, I paused to think what to say to this guy I had no idea what to say.
Well! Honesty is the best policy after all!
“Actually, I don’t really know. my memory is fuzzy.” I looked down, implying my state had something to do with that.
The young man gulped, clearly nervous, as he observed my condition. He turned to the girl beside him and said “Quick, go get Uncle Jian, I’ll take him back with me.”
For the first time I looked at the girl, if the young man was shocking, she was even more so.
Now that I’m in a world that seemed more and more like one of those ‘Xianxia’ worlds I read about once or twice, the correct term would be jade beauty. She was extremely beautiful and had those same emerald eyes as the young man, surely, they must be siblings.
The young woman simply nodded, she had a serious edge to her and her attitude was cold, but I saw in her eyes that she also cared about me.
Without another moment she and turned around and, I kid you not, jumped straight over a building and out of sight. My eyes nearly popped out seeing this jaw dropping scene.
The young man must’ve misunderstood because his traces of worry intensified at that moment. He gently cursed under his breath and glanced away, clearly thinking. After a moment he looked at me with a slightly sheepish look and muttered “sorry about this.”.
He then grabbed me, lifting me on his shoulder, which made me grunt embarrassingly loud.
Before I could say anything, he copied the girl, and I felt the world spin around me.
Fuck! These guys are crazy! I thought, resisting the urge to shout out.
I spent the next couple minutes being tossed around as this man defied gravity as if it was just a suggestion to him.
Finally stopped at a big wooden gate that had a few guards standing outside, adorned with armour and both carrying sharp spears that gleamed with a dangerous glint.
The young man only stopped for a moment to converse with them before they let him in almost instantly. The doors opened to reveal an incredible sight, it seemed as if those doors opened to new world, again.
An exquisite courtyard with a beautiful garden was revealed with a clear lake dividing it. Behind the lake stood buildings built in ancient Chinese style, looming over these grand buildings was a humongous tree with golden leaves.
We hastily went over the bridge that stood above the river as I thought to myself. Well, this will be interesting…
The shock of everything pretty much drained me of all surprise at this point.
Well, time to go with the flow.
How was the first chapter?
